Day 54 - Sunday - August 29, 2021

Last night Hannah told Xavier she wants to use her veto on him, but she wanted to check with Tiffany and Claire. She ran her pitches for each, which Xavier said sounded good and logical, and he said he was grateful to her. Later Hannah told us she was hoping to build up some loyalty from Xavier and maybe he'd take her to finals, thinking he could beat her. And she said "Tiffany still needs to feel like her and I are like this [close]." And Kyland pitched to Tiffany a plan for Hannah to use veto on him, and Tiffany retold that to Azah this morning. They laughed and said he can pack and sit on the block.

Hannah made her pitch to Tiffany (who had already said she wants it used on Xavier), and they agreed they didn't want two Cookouts on the block, but they said they needed to figure out how to tell Kyland so he wouldn't think they're more solid with Xavier than him. There was some general anti-Kyland talk, and Hannah said they need to convince Xavier that they (Hannah/Tiffany) would be the better duo for Xavier to stick with than Derek/Azah. They still don't know or seem to suspect the three Cookout guys have had an F3 deal for weeks. Tiffany told Claire that Kyland was going to try to pitch for Alyssa to go up in his place. Claire said she'd already promised Alyssa she wouldn't go up. They agreed having only Kyland and SarahB on the block Thursday would be best, partly because he got to vote to keep Derek X when they had to vote him out. Claire told Tiffany she'd found out if she should somehow win Thursday's HOH, second place would get the win (since she's required to throw it). Tiffany reported most of their convo to Xavier. And Hannah made her pitch to Claire, who'd already talked it over with Tiffany.

Pitches carried on, and on, plus retells of them. Cookout members griped to each other that Kyland wanted to be pulled off the block so he could give SarahB a sympathy vote, and that annoyed them since he'd already given one to Derek X, and a second would be giving Kyland extra jury points. Kyland finally talked to Hannah for a full hour and a half. That finally wrapped up partly because she had to use the bathroom. Apparently Tiffany also escaped her Kyland marathon by saying she did too. Kyland told them "I told you both to go first." Hannah and Xavier went to Have-not to do Hot Takes with Hannah but really they compared notes about Kyland's pitch. Xavier called it "a weak ass sentimental pitch" and neither of them were very pleased with Kyland in general. They also thought he probably has a Final Two with everyone still there. Meanwhile Kyland went to work on Derek, maybe trying to exert pressure for all of Cookout to tell Hannah to use her veto on him rather than Xavier, or not to use it at all? I don't even know. She's going to use it on Xavier, she was always going to use it on Xavier.

Tension continue to rise between Xavier and Kyland. Xavier popped in on Kyland pitching to Derek to say all the meetings look sketchy and they're raising suspicion. Kyland said he's just doing what everyone on the block has done, which is to meet with everyone. Xavier said that's after the veto meeting, and only Hannah has the veto. They broke up but minutes later Tiffany cornered Kyland to tell him to chill and lay low the rest of the night. SarahB had said earlier she was waiting to talk with Kyland about his meeting with Hannah before she talked to her, but she finally started a pitch to Hannah in the hammock. A loud group rendition of Say Hello to Lucius broke out on the other side of the yard about then, followed by Welcome to Big Brother, with bonus handclaps, and Do What You Gotta Do. I don't know how Hannah kept a straight face with SarahB, but she did. Kyland then started a round with Alyssa in the bathroom. Hannah came along to use the toilet, as did Claire, and Tiffany. Hannah reported her Kyland talk to Claire.

They had the selfie camera so after dinner they sang all the many songs they've written so far, loudly, and then they had an obstacle course relay for their latest activity, BB Olympics. They split in two teams and had to run through pool ring floaties, limbo, pass a cookie from their forehead to mouth with no hands, belly crawl under lounge floaties, go under and over the hammock, find a hidden lime, and sack hop in a shopping bag. It was very loud, chaotic, and fun, except for Xavier's first pass over the hammock when he landed hard on his ass with an audible WHOMP. He said it still hurt an hour later. Hannah caught up after Diary and did a round against Derek (she won), and a round against Xavier (he won, after going all the way in the pool for the lime.) A good time was had by all, and then Kyland brought SarahB to Have-not to talk at her some more. And then they got a booze delivery, which led to laughs and sex talk downstairs, while Kyland and SarahB did their tragic soap opera thing in Have-not.

Day 53 - Saturday - August 28, 2021

Claire told us she was proud of Tiffany for getting the HOH win, and she wondered aloud if everyone knew she (Claire) was the secret HOH? She answered herself "sort of, but some believe it's Tiff." We also learned from this and other morning convos that Claire bet Heads for the winning coin flip, Alyssa would likely be her renom if needed, and she will play for HOH on Thursday but she's required to throw the comp, and that's known by all of them. She said she wanted to get more clarification about that, and was told they'll get back to her. Azah told Derek she realized Xavier doesn't like her back that way, and "it's time to move forward." Kyland joked that Xavier isn't a bartender, "he's a singer at a bar." Xavier said "one of these days you guys are gonna actually figure out what I do, you guys are getting warmer and warmer." So apparently the jig is up on that job lie.

Alyssa, Claire, Hannah were picked to play veto along with nominees Kyland, SarahB, Xavier. Feeds went to adoptable anipals at 1.14pm for their comp and returned at 5.40pm. Hannah won the veto plus a movie screening for herself and three guests to watch Dear Evan Hansen, based on the Tony award-winning musical - she said she'll take the nominees. She was thrilled at having won, and told us she'll use it on Xavier, leaving Kyland and SarahB on the block Thursday (which will mean SarahB's exit). The comp was BB High School Hijinks, they all had BB HIGH SCHOOL shirts with a squirrel mascot, and it sounded similar to last year's Snapshot Shuffle. They had to arrange pics of either evictees or all of them, each with some ailment like black eye, flu, broken arm, and put them in chronological order.

SarahB was 23 seconds behind Hannah so she was moping and crying again. She said "it sucks to be that close" and still lose. She may have forgotten she beat Derek X in the balance beam HOH comp by a mere one-hundredth of a second: that's close. Kyland was 3 seconds behind her, and he moped on his own in the gym for awhile. Xavier said he took twice as long as Hannah, and he was moping in bed afterwards. Tiffany approached him to ask if he was okay, and she asked if he was pouting. He said "girl, I'm a grownass man, don't say I'm out here pouting" (he was, although it was partially planned for SarahB's benefit also). Tiffany told him the girls were happy they've won all the comps this week (which could be partly why he was pouting: he, Kyland, Derek had been counting on the Cookout girls continuing to crap out in comps.)

Hannah and her guests SarahB, Kyland, Xavier went to watch their movie around 7.15pm and the others had a lively talk about dating and first dates over dinner. Azah and Tiffany had a good catchup talk and info exchange, and Claire and Tiffany discovered from the rulebook this season's runner-up will get $75k. The non-moviegoers wrote a new song, Hello Lucius, featuring dance moves by Azah and Tiffany. They were going to surprise the others with it during a break in the Big Blue Couch but they couldn't wait, and they ran it for them as soon as they came back downstairs from the movie. Big Blue Couch was Alyssa's QA session, including a poop scooping story she probably could have kept to herself, and then they did Hello Lucius again, followed by High School Mafia led by Azah. Kyland and especially SarahB looked fairly miserable for most of it, but both perked up, likely due to Azah's over-the-top hilarious cheer character.

From there Kyland did a bad standup routine, which Derek cheered. That led to Tiffany calling out Derek for always supporting Kyland, boosting him up, complimenting him, but never herself or the other girls. That led to an extended series of things Derek has said through the season to and about various of them, until it was a full-fledged roast. Derek argued and justified, and repeated none of it ever came from bad intentions, which the others agreed with, between the laughs. But between the lines, Tiffany is finally going to be rid of SarahB and is looking towards the endgame, and starting to paint her future targets. Once they're down to six, all bets are off and they're all going to be fighting to make it to the end.

Ratings - TBA edition

A couple things about the Cookout alliance. The first is to once again ask why haven't they featured on the show why Cookout's mission of having two Black finalists (and as many as possible in Final Six) is so important? All six have talked about it at various times but the edits make it look like they're just another big alliance steamrolling to the end. Racists will still cry 'racist alliance, racist season' and that's their problem, but one or two might gain some understanding. If you're still unclear, or would just like more insight, please see @Pooyaism's very eloquent explanation in Links of the Day below.

Second, I think the Cookout's superb gameplay has been underestimated. They've manipulated several HOHs to do their dirty work for them, and they've convinced voters to go their way without them even having to rely on being majority numbers. And they've done all this without ever meeting all together until the end of Day 52, and that was just to celebrate having gotten this far undetected. But more than that, each of them has pulled their weight through conversations with non-members and by cozying up with their partner/pawns. We've seen a lot of anguish as those partner/pawns have begun to be evicted, and we'll see more of that in the coming weeks.

That anguish just proves the commitment to their mission, which should illustrate on its own why the mission is so very important to them. It's really astounding when you compare to any other season where we often have double-dippers, but in this case it's SIX people often playing against the logic of what might be 'best for their personal game.' Add to that the facts that they aren't all comp beasts by any means, and several of the six don't even particularly like each other all that much, and have said they wouldn't normally have chosen to ally with this person or that. That's actually a lot of handicaps working against them but still, they have prevailed.

Obit to follow

Won: BB$100; Week 1 safety
HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 3/1 - HN 1
TEAM JOKERS

1st juror - 6th evicted - Day 44

She went on the block four times, and she ranted, cried, and was a pretty bad sport about it. She only played the game around noms and voting times, so she didn't understand she kept going OTB because she didn't bother to find out what was going on, or to create allies beyond her Jokers team/roomies. The fact she was up against Cookout didn't help her any, but she could have done a lot more than she did, and she blamed her exit on a broken deal that was never struck. She rapped for Julie, and won a hard-fought veto, and broke in on Alyssa/Christian sexytime in HOH. She seemed to be playing a character much of the time, and she contributed a lot to their many skits and songs.

Won: Week 1 Wildcard + safety; Week 3 safety
HOH 1 - Veto 2 - Noms 0/1 - HN 2
TEAM KINGS Captain

5th evicted - Day 37

It was tricky to tell him apart from Travis at first, which wasn't helped by Christian changing his hair once or twice a day, and he often sounded like Victor Arroyo when he spoke. But that passed and soon it was easy to tell Christian was the loud one who was super-glued to Alyssa most of the time. He was sometimes fun and seems like a good guy, but he made no secret of his physical abilities, including doing six backflip/burpie combos in a row one day, just because he could. Those abilities were largely what got him the boot, since he also proved he could put them into action, even when he didn't need to.

Won: Nothing
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1
TEAM ACES Captain

4th evicted - Day 30

Apparently she spent a few hours on Twitter and she selected one of my tweets to complain about being villainized, slut shamed, and hated. My tweet was factual, with a touch of snark, but none of that stuff. Maybe she forgot what she signed up for, and I'm sure she's having a tough re-entry, but after having hate for her flung into my mentions every day (as all updaters get, for each of them) to then get called out publicly for what I didn't do, I'll just go with Mariah's 'I don't know her.'

Won: Nothing
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1
TEAM ACES

3rd evicted - Day 23

At cast reveal I thought international flight attendant would mean great people skills, but no. He came in boasting of charm but it didn't last long. His talk about girls and dating, and his behavior towards several women in there, were problematic and bound to get worse if he'd stayed. He was happy to be Frenchie's lieutenant for the chaotic first week but then Brent turned on him and practically denied ever being with him. He had zero self-awareness about all this and the edits skewered him as they did Frenchie, proving once again if you do clownery, you'll get the clown music.

Won: Nothing
HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 0
TEAM JOKERS Captain

2nd evicted - Day 16

Cast reveal brought controversy plus a major Cody/Derrick mixup, and the feeds opened to him announcing he wouldn't put up a woman or minority, but then he put up Alyssa and Kyland, and it was downhill from there. He did everything a feedster should know not to do: shouting in Diary, talking in cliches, Bomb Squadding, pandering, power-tripping, mistaking BB history items, grandstanding, begging for a viewer save, and threatening to quit. Still, all that gave us a wild ride and super-chaotic first week of feeds that we'd never be able to piece together if we hadn't seen it unfold.

Won: Nothing
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/1 - HN 0
TEAM QUEENS

1st evicted - Day 9

I barely know who he was. He dressed in drag (and looked okay doing so), he gave Kyland a birthday lap dance, took his shirt off for his nominee speech, and complained to Julie that white guys with abs are targets. And he didn't do much to prevent his eviction. That's all I got. Aloha.

Won: Early ticket home
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Replaced pre-season

Replaced by Claire pre-season, she tested positive for COVID.

Won: Early ticket home
