Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 21 - Monday - August 5, 2024

The mess continued last night with a backyard group including Cam, Cedric, Joseph, Leah, Makensy, Rubina agreeing that despite all the ruckus, the votes should go to Angela and Kenney and not whoever ends up as pawn. They also had a Lisa bash session that was pretty funny, and of course they agreed she was a "good person" and it's "not personal." Cam and Cedric further agreed Quinn is the root of the problems but they'd wait a week or two to get him out. Cedric told Cam about his F2 with Quinn, and that Joseph wants an F3 with him and Chelsie. Scurrying picked up again this morning, including an anti-Angela plea from Kenney to Cedric, and Makensy telling Kimo she was expecting to be the renom since Cedric hadn't specified that she wouldn't be.

Feeds came back to full chaos after the veto meeting. Everyone was still in place, Tucker was ranting, Makensy said everyone's there for a reason and none of it should be personal, and Tucker gave Quinn a hug agreeing with that sentiment. We were able to piece together that Tucker used his veto on Angela so he remains on the block, Cedric put up Makensy in her place, she invoked her power to remove herself, and they learned (officially) that a viewer vote would determine her replacement. Somewhere in there Quinn's power was exposed, I think by Tucker? I'm pretty sure Tucker did say something about Quinn being allied with virtually everyone during the meeting, and his follow-ups implied he was blindsided by Cedric not putting up Quinn as they'd planned yesterday. (Tucker was not in on the many follow-up meetings yesterday and last night.) Brooklyn looked appalled at it all. Angela said she, Cedric, Makensy are ineligible to be the renom. Quinn and Angela landed on the major fights tally below, going off on each other (in the kitchen again!) with raised voices on both sides, but we didn't see much of that.

Tucker told Rubina he was hyped because nobody doesn't use veto on themselves (a handful have, with varied outcomes), and said he wants to break the first-in curse. Kenney revved up his poor-me loops about being the "worst case scenario" for him, and he told Leah, as a father figure, that it did very much appear like she's been flirting with Cam when she said she's just friendly with everyone. Leah and Cam started up another accusation/denial endless loop convo. Angela told Cedric he should have put up Quinn and that he would have been evicted (debatable), and that he had to start confiding in some other people than who he has been. Then she put on a textbook Disappointed Mom face when she said Cedric had been handed a golden apple, and "I'm so sorry you threw it away." Quinn did an apology tour telling some of his many allies he was sorry he'd lied about not having a power, but that he hadn't planned on using it (also debatable). Rubina seemed to take it pretty hard that he'd lied to her, and she tried to hold back tears as they talked. Rubina told T'kor she thought Tucker had gotten so angry because the four guys had decided on Quinn renom, but Cedric backed out without telling Tucker.

This is just scratching the surface of all the chaos that exploded, and to top it off, apparently Tucker hadn't fully understood everything about Quinn's power before running amok about it. Cedric told Cam he had to cut things off with Leah and Cam said that's done, as long as Pentagon has his back. (Cam's said he's done with Leah before, a few times, but he wasn't). Cedric said "the Pentagon is still rocking," adding Quinn doesn't have anybody else now, Cam agreed, and they parted with a quick bro-hug. Things settled down after awhile, with a lot of catch-up convos about who knew what and when, along with a lot of lies about those things.

Leah retold her Cam stuff to T'kor and Rubina, and Cedric, and probably various others. Quinn told Joseph he owed him one for not confessing his power, so he told him about Pentagon alliance, without naming it. Leah told Cedric when she'd previously told him she'd been painted as a target, it came from Cam telling her Cedric had said she "sold her game for a cheap bag." Paranoia spread about who viewers would put on the block, unaware the TV viewers (who usually decide these things) barely know who some of them are yet. Cam broke the tension for a minute by walking through the unicorn room where Leah and T'kor were talking, dressed as T'kor. Kind of? He had a bathrobe and towel on his head, and was carrying hand weights. T'kor said she doesn't ever wear a towel. Quinn rebounded well, by appearances anyway, joking about his failed alliances and saying he was eating his feelings with ice cream. Makensy complained about thinking she was actually Cedric's target (she wasn't). Joseph made a lot of rounds, talking and joking(?) about the viewer vote, and being spontaneously odd, like he does.

Tucker made a lot of rounds mouthing off about Cedric, and socializing as he went. He outted Shake It Up and Ball Players here and there, and was annoyed the other guys were denying. Dinner came and went, and there was talk about playing Mafia later. Instead, Cedric went into the clouds room for some socks and Tucker confronted him directly, with Cam, Chelsie, T'kor present. The crux was whether Cedric told Tucker to go ahead with not using veto on himself, or not. Tucker and Cedric both insisted the other was lying. (Recall that Tucker slept while all the talks happened yesterday after the guys came up with the scheme. A short clip from this morning shows Cedric telling Tucker they don't have the votes, and Tucker saying "I don't give a fuck, I'm still doing it." Cedric remained relatively calm (qualifying this as a minor fight for the tally rather than major, and Tucker got more and more heated, throwing out "motherfucker" word, and calling the guys' groups the Shakers and the Players Club, and later Shakers Club (which I found hilarious). He told Cedric he's gunning for him and he's his number one target, and he finished with "don't speak to me for the rest of the week!"

Rehashes and retells came along, like they do. Cedric said he wasn't mad but then he went off in the backyard, shouting everything he probably wanted to shout to Tucker's face at the time, and being perturbed by a circling helicopter. (That copter may have been related to a fatal apartment fire across the river tonight.) Cam was surprised to learn Cedric/Kenney/Tucker already formed Shake It Up before he was brought in to Ball Players. T'kor said the shouting was triggering. She and Chelsie said they didn't trust Cam anymore because he'd earlier denied the guys' thing. Kenney said "the fans love this!" as if he had anything to do with any of it. Cedric told Joseph the background of the mess, and said the guys' alliance formed yesterday was a "fake ass alliance." (It wasn't at the time.) Tucker said he hasn't slept for five nights and wasn't himself, and hadn't gotten that angry for a long time. He calmed down relatively quickly, and Rubina helped with that. Quinn said he'll use his power next week no matter what, and dessert was served. Cedric and Tucker passed by each other and had a hug, saying "still love you bro" and "it's all good" and things get emotional in there.

Tucker told Kenney viewers will probably renom Leah or Quinn "because Leah has said like four derogatory terms and they do not let that shit slide." Kenney said we may not have seen it - true, nor heard about it. Somehow Brooklyn and Kenney got into it about him saying there's a girls' alliance and she's leading it. Kenney denied saying that, and Brooklyn said just because girls are talking together doesn't mean anything. (I don't have an exact count but I'm pretty sure he said that more than he said he wants to quit.) Leah and Joseph were present, and Angela and T'kor also showed up. Several in the backyard gathered at the door to try to listen in. Kenney kept running his usual loops, and he also said Quinn approached him yesterday to form an alliance. That actually happened in reverse: Kenney pitched to Quinn. Brooklyn and Kenney finally had a hug and said no hard feelings, and a few retells of that ensued.

Dear Camp Administrators,
I'm pleased to see you've added some new games for activity hour, and that you've assembled another (very) motley crew for us to observe and pick apart. I'm also pleased you included a few standout characters among this session's campers, and I hope you'll use your influence to assure they'll stick around for the long weeks ahead when they'll be desperately needed. (But I have my doubts about that since several have been put in jeopardy already, and one has been expelled.) The new STEM program is commendable, though I'm not sure it's being executed in the most educational way. The Secret Squirrel tradition is once again on the verge of being a flop, despite some creative planning for it this time. All you need to do is enact a rule (with severe consequences) to ensure the Squirrels with Secrets keep them secret. It's not that difficult. The mess hall menu could use some updating in general, but could you please stop serving so much oatmeal? It's stupid.
your pal,
dingo
PS I've noticed we have several pious campers this session. Despite the religious lady's picture being front and center on camp brochures, I hope we don't transition from our traditional summer camp curriculum into Vacation Bible School later on. That camp's in a different zip code.

Angela Murray - 50

Married with kids & grandkids - fan applicant
Real estate agent
Syracuse, UT (orig Long Beach, CA)

Dear Angela,
Unlike many summer camps, Camp BB has never had a strict rule about playing nice with others, as you apparently know. Many are happy you haven't acted like it is a strict rule, and many are not. And while there's also never been a rule here about crying to get attention or pity, you've used up your quota on that, especially when accompanied by the tiny, breathy poor-me voice. It's transparent and highly ineffective after the 37th time. Please stop saying or doing things that cause communication breakdowns and we'll be fine going forward.
your pal,
dingo

Dear Brooklyn,
Camp officials and your fellow campers all appreciate you offering to take on the role of cabin mother, and everyone appreciates even more that you don't insist on filling that role 24/7. You have mastered the very valuable but very rare talent of being there if needed, and stepping back if not.

Dear Joseph,
You've been trying to act like you don't know much about this camp, and then you let slip how much you do know about it, and that's confusing people. Maybe spend a little more energy to stay aware of what's happening this camp session than assuming it's like every other session, because you're quickly falling out of the loops you think you're running. That said, your outstanding sense of humor is appreciated by a few, and camp administrators appreciate you offering to pretend to enjoy the Movie Night feature presentation when it comes along, even if you don't. As you obviously know, we rarely get hit summer blockbusters at this camp but it's important to act like we do.

Dear Kenney,
You need to stop whining about wanting to go home like you're a 9-year-old who wet his bunk. If you really want to go, it can be arranged. If you don't, and you think that routine's making you look like you can't win any games, think again. Your fellow campers are catching on.
your pal,

PS Your lone wolf/solo sitting around routine has made you dangerously close to failing to earn your Participation Ribbon. Nobody fails that one.

Dear Leah,
You've made a lot of friends but will they have your back when you need them? Will you have theirs? Camp observers would like to know. I'm glad you've mastered pattycake class but a word of advice: you don't need to try so hard. At three weeks in, everyone's aware of who you are and what you're about. You don't need to keep telling them. Look what happened to the glitter girl.

Dear Makensy,
I'm sorry you lost your summer fling so soon, but you weren't really flinging with him anyway so let's just let that drop. I'm not sure what you thought you were getting into here, but I have a feeling you might have signed up for the wrong camp. Your fellow campers aren't really taking you seriously at this one.

Quinn Martin - 25

Dear Quinn,
I know you studied the camp brochures and listened to the camp talk shows. It's also apparent you didn't read the camp newsletters and editorials but I don't hold that against you: reading is hard and out of fashion. However, telling a few of your fellow campers that you landed the best Secret Squirrel assignment of all time is not okay. (Lying about not having it to your closest buddies after they already know you do is also not okay, but you'll find this out on your own.) Even if you do end up using it when your last chance comes up next week, the camp grapevine has already been activated and the shock and awe we were promised will, once again, not happen. Boo.

Dear T'kor,
You're proving to be a first rate camper, befriending those in all the other cabins as well as your own. And you do it very casually and quietly, so it's not seen as being overbearing or sneaky. Maybe a bit too quietly, if you plan on staying all summer and hope to win any of the prizes at Awards Night at the end of this summer's session. Maybe step it up a little, offer to teach a crochet class or something? Just a thought.

Lisa Weintraub - 33

Single - recruit?
Celebrity chef
Los Angeles, CA

2nd evicted - Day 17

She's a legit chef/caterer and ran that into the ground, along with sprinkling edible glitter on everyone's food whether they wanted it or not. Tucker's rants about her were an early highlight, and she crumbled after Angela mocked her walk and called her a twit. Props for winning the first veto (rare for a woman), but she wasn't cut out for this setting. Most of that was simply being a bad roommate: she made (and wasted) food they didn't want, dabbed non-consensual essential oil on her roomies' pillows, propped filthy feet on food surfaces, and she never tired of telling everyone what a special and unique person she was.

1st evicted - Day 10

He filled the pretty boy/brojock casting slot perfectly but didn't like Angela pointing that out openly and immediately. He was adamant about not being 'that guy' and to his credit, he did talk a lot against toxic masculinity. He cried after Angela yelled at him, but went out in high spirits with ginormous smiles for Julie.

Lines

Quinn about veto meeting: I had the craziest smile on my face, like what is happening? And then, it's me??!

Quinn about Angela when she popped off at Matt: OMG I attached my wagon to a crazy person

Kenney: This is worst case scenario for me.. I'm out of the funk

Cam: Now I'm thinking Angela was telling the truth about a lot of stuff

Tucker: Now we're fuckin playing Big Brother, dude

Quinn: Our final two's working just like we imagined
Tucker: HA HA HA

@KevinTedJacobs: I'm really into Tucker because by playing unconventionally it makes it so much harder for everyone to play around him. It's prob going to end badly but it's really fun to watch someone just do things the way he wants and defy more traditional approaches/game strategy

@Dolffica: The exact opposite of what Cedric was trying to accomplish happened: he is now bathed in blood.

Chelsie about Makensy: You're tall, that's about it

"Position the habitat of your hamster somewhere light and airy, away from drafts, heaters, direct sunlight
and other pets. Never put it on or near a television, radio or hi-fi, or a fridge."
