Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 4 - Friday - July 19, 2024

Their third and our first morning kicked off with casual breakfasts, casual chats, feeding the fishies, and hamster grooming rituals that included Kenney shaving his head. And of course gametalk began right away, in small groups. We learned there will be an AI Arena comp "every week" (probably just the first weeks). Consensus out here is there will be three initial noms, then AI Arena comp to save one, then veto comp as usual. If a veto replacement is needed, that'd be the fourth nom that was mentioned last night. I think. It will become clear as we go. Still no word on Deep Fake HOH or America's Veto, but Chelsie figured out Makensy had one of the powers, saying she was "acting paranoid yesterday."

There was talk from Lisa and Brooklyn about arranging a talent show. Plans for things like that are usually made and sometimes end up happening, but more often don't. Kimo and Lisa talked about needing to take breaks in Have-not or Diary to recharge due to having so many people constantly talk-talk-talking. Several of them were hoarse and/or had sore throats. That also happens often due to the talk-talk-talking as well as the dry a/c and no fresh air. (They did regular COVID testing in sequester as usual in recent seasons, so it's not that.) Kenney, who's currently Angela's target, gave her a pre-noms pitch. She later told the cameras and us that she'd just done the best acting of her life by pretending to go along with what he said, and she said she was sure he'd practiced his spiel with Matt before laying it out for her - accurate. We know Quinn's a feedster, Angela and Joseph may be as well.

The wall and floor graphics in the Have-not really work to give a skewed sense of perspective, at least on camera. Good job, whoever did that. Early teams/alliances include a nine-person(!) headed by Angela and Joseph, with Brooklyn, Cam, Cedric, Chelsie, Leah, Rubina, Quinn. Chelsie told Brooklyn she trusts her the most at the moment. Last night Brooklyn and Angela were making F2 noises. Cam, Cedric, Chelsie seem tight, and Cam played it smart by grabbing a Bible as cover in case anyone walked in on them while scheming. Kimo and T'kor seem to be working together, as well as Kenney and Matt. Matt is extremely animated whenever he talks, and he talks a lot. Chelsie and Joseph told Angela that Makensy was griping about her last night, and most of them compared notes about Matt shmoozing them all and making F2/F3 pitches to everyone.

Angela nominated Lisa, Kimo, Kenney. Feeds came back to she and Kimo, both teary, and Kimo telling her he understood she had to do what she had to do. Angela then met with Lisa, who said she'd been blindsided, she never expected to be the first nominee, pawns go home, and etc. Both of them did some crying (which should be illegal in the unicorn room), and at one point Angela asked if she could give Lisa a hug but Lisa said "I'll hug you in a second." Angela assured her she wasn't a target and would be safe. She said her target was Kenney, but she also had someone else in mind (Matt) if she couldn't get Kenney out. Angela finally met with Kenney who seemed insulted Angela saw him "in the same category" as Kimo and Lisa. Angela cried and shmoozed with all three of them, but whether they believed her or not is debatable. Apparently the three nominees will each draw someone to play for veto, and HOH will not play (Canada style). And it seems the AI Arena comp will be after veto. Still no word about Makensy's and Quinn's powers, or who has which one.

Lisa finally settled down and held one-on-one campaign rounds to express her shock at being on the block (and that people were already playing). Matt continued making wild expressions and crazy eyes, and holding court in the pantry and other places. Angela continued damage control rounds, and telling us after various meetings that she wasn't buying what some were selling. The threatened talent show actually happened, with a loud announcement that it was mandatory but consensual, and strongly encouraged. The talents displayed were fairly short, and not too painful.

Kenney did a lengthy intro for a short song re-enacting his public proposal to his now-wife; Leah's talent was blocked but was apparently backstory and promo for her lingerie business, with cone hair; Quinn did a mind-reading/number-guessing demo (con) with Kenney and Joseph's assistance (which they'd previously worked out); Tucker moved his eyes independently from each other, in memory of his former pet chameleon; Brooklyn sang Happy Birthday with her mouth closed, with trumpet player cheeks, and she also picked up things with her toes; Angela did a very loud whistle through her fingers; Makensy said she was going to remove and re-install her weave, but switched to pilates; T'kor modeled one of her crochet creations; Matt did a guided meditation, with whalesongs; Rubina said her talent was "something really rare, I will be shutting the fuck up"; Kimo was blocked, likely for something copyright; and Lisa wrapped it up by doing an Ainsley impersonation to lead a game of Mermaid Says. Afterwards, she went back to her one-on-one rounds.

Lisa and Chelsie made dinner for them all (except Have-nots), and the rest of the evening was more rounds by Lisa, more rounds, spiraling, and tears from Angela, and ever more alliance-making and shifting around. It's a lot, but it's the norm for first days. Kenney and Lisa each announced (separately) if they don't win veto, they don't want or expect anyone else to save them with it. Matt reached the "let's do a fake alliance" stage already, suggesting to Leah and Makensy they pretend to ally with Angela and Joseph, and then backstab them later. Makensy then told Leah and Matt that she'd won the first comp and the America's Veto power. She said she can pull someone off the block and viewers would do an instant vote for the replacement. She said it's good for four weeks, but it wasn't clear if she could use it each week or just once. That means Quinn got the Deep Fake HOH power, but I don't know yet what that is. Quinn met with Angela and gave her a lot of intel about everyone and the alliances they've formed.

GET YOUR FEEDS! Unfortunately, Flashback has been killed this year, but we made do without it back in the ancient days, and for Canada before they killed feeds, and we can do it again. Get yourself set up so you'll be ready to go when feeds launch Thursday night at 10pm Pacific/1am Eastern (Friday). Feeds will be accessible with the Essential plan as usual: that confusion was caused by corporate miscommunication and faulty press release items, which have been added to the Goof Tally below.

Day 5 - Saturday - July 20, 2024

In overnight news, Leah and Lisa spent a long time gametalking in the wee hours, as they hid in the shower, and successfully avoided being busted by toilet visitors. This day kicked off with a bang as Tropical Storm Angela made landfall. They were all up early for the veto draw, so many were gathered for breakfast as Angela slow-clapped her way down the stairs, saying "Matt, Matt, Matt." She proceeded to lay into him from the stairs landing as the gathered audience grew more awkward, for more than 10 minutes. She said she was sleep-deprived, twice his age and a mom, yet he'd aggressively verbally threatened her during their one-on-one. Matt seemed confused by that, and her pre-noms meetings were before feeds started, so we don't have a yardstick to gauge, but it seemed as if she was irritated by him saying he'd put her up if/when he's HOH if she put him up this week.

Angela eventually descended to the main floor and continued her tirade, calling Matt "Crazy Eyes" repeatedly (which also confused him), and telling him his words were shit so he should put them back in his ass. And she said her visitors last night from his side gave a great performance "for a low budget movie." She said she needed everyone to know who they were following with him, that she wasn't a game player but just a mom fulfilling her dream to be on the show. She said nobody else has treated her disrespectfully and from here on out she just wants to have fun, "except for you, don't talk to me," and she said she'd had a traumatic experience from Matt, but MJ (Makensy) could do better. Finally she acknowledged she'd gotten too heated, and she apologized to the rest of them. It should be noted she was clearly planning [something] in her bed before all that kicked off, saying to herself "that's it, that's what I'll do," with finger-snaps. The whole thing did feel somewhat performative, but it sure kick-started the day in a surprising and explosive way.

Angela, Brooklyn, Joseph were picked to play veto, and Tucker would host. Well, I don't know if Angela was picked or if she played as HOH since there are three nominees - there's been a very lot of confusion about that, which will become clear on Wednesday's show if not before. Matt was crying afterward the draw about Angela's tirade to Kenney who consoled him, and later to T'kor who consoled him better. Angela gave Kimo a DIY chiro/massage, so check that one off your BB bingo cards. Matt confronted Joseph to ask if he knew Angela was going to go off on him, and Joseph said no. Matt made some threat-type noises if Joseph was involved in it for "when we get out of here" and said Joseph would "wear that forever" because Angela said some things about Matt's mom. Matt gave himself a meditation break to de-stress, but no word if whalesongs were involved. Angela said she was a uterine cancer survivor and her family had moved to Utah for medical reasons/care. T'kor and Quinn agreed to work together, as did Joseph and Tucker, and Kimo, T'kor, Tucker agreed they were still planning to stick with Angela.

Feeds went to anipals from 1.20pm to around 4pm. Lisa won the veto, and Kenney came in second. It was the spelling comp, and they had to crawl through dirt and mud that "felt like a human glue trap," and some letters were deleted from play along the way. There were some references to Brendon's UNDERSTANDING but not that he'd won two years in a row with that, and there was no mention of Shannon's RESPONSIBILITIES on the first celeb season. Quinn later said he'd tried to make a TECHNOTRONICS joke but nobody got it. Angela told Brooklyn she wanted to put up Matt in hopes he'd go and Brooklyn said she'd vote him out as long as it wasn't a ruse to get rid of Kimo. Angela told her Kimo wasn't her target and never had been, and they celebrated getting a brojock out. Kimo and Quinn had a check-in and wondered about a 10-person alliance(!) they'd both heard about. Angela went on apology tour about her breakfast show, which included a lot of other stuff at various stops besides apologies, as apology tours tend to go.

The apology tour lasted for hours, literally. Angela gave everyone a lot of words, repeated she was sleep-deprived, and she told most of them she'd be putting up Matt as her renom. Recall that Makensy got the America's Veto power and can remove someone from the block, with their replacement decided by an instant viewer vote. And she told Matt she has it. He might lay down and die, or he might badger her to use it on him from the veto meeting til eviction, we'll see. The two of them are the only threat of a showmance as of now, so production might want to nudge things along there. Angela's tour finally got around to Makensy over dinner prep. Makensy had previously said she didn't want to hear it and Angela should apologize to Matt instead of her, but she stood there over cooling quesadillas and listened anyway, saying she didn't understand why she was brought into it. Elsewhere, Brooklyn and Chelsie agreed they'd vote to evict Matt if he stays on the block and if not, they'd boot Kenney, and that seemed to be the consensus for most of them.

Named alliances as of now include mega alliance the Collective with Angela (currently on probation with them), Cam, Cedric, Chelsie, Joseph, Kimo, Quinn, T'kor, plus Kenney as a fake member for numbers; the Barbershop with Cam, Chelsie, Leah, Makensy, Matt; the Pentagon with Brooklyn, Cam, Cedric, Chelsie, Quinn, with Cam, Cedric, Chelsie being the Core within that; and Brooklyn, Chelsie, Leah, Makensy, Rubina have talked about having a girls' alliance but they didn't formalize or name it. And there are multiple duos and trios, as always. Fortunately for all of us, @Dolffica and @89razorskate20 have both launched their first visual recaps of the messy mess for us - thanks to them both!

The backyard finally opened sometime after 11pm and most of them poured out to suck up the fresh air. Most were impressed at the metamorphosis from the veto comp, but Tucker was floored, asking "where did all the honey go?!" They soon settled into casual conversation groups and the brojocks played brojock games with a ball they'd been given. Inside, Brooklyn and Makensy laid out the Have-not guys' clothes on their beds like flattened mannequins, because BB is a complex game of social strategy, don't ya know. Lisa announced to the backyard there was an AI message: they'd be having a second veto competition in two hours. That got their attention and then she said "just kidding." She wouldn't have liked that joke/prank 24 hours ago.

GET YOUR FEEDS! Unfortunately, Flashback has been killed this year, but we made do without it back in the ancient days, and for Canada before they killed feeds, and we can do it again. Ratings - Actual First Impressions edition

Ratings are based on entertainment value

Noms count: original/renom

Boo for taking away live move-in and first night feeds, but yay for not making us wait 6-7-8 days like some seasons. Boo for having complex twists that we don't even have the details for yet, but yay for the potential that those twists might prevent an early power alliance setting up a season steamroll. Boo for not having mascots in costumes, but yay for that too because it's rough for costumees in the first week. All that equals a resounding neutral, with an added WTF for having a human pretend to be an AI entity. That's so backwards.

Won: TBA

HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Angela Murray - 50
Real estate agent
Syracuse, UT (orig Long Beach, CA)

Ups for winning the first HOH from the precarious Older Mom casting slot positon, and for making it a sloppy, messy reign. Her Saturday breakfast show was an excellent start to the season for Fun Feeds fans, and it looks like she may come out of it relatively unscathed? We'll see. And she's a uterine cancer survivor so big ups for that! #FuckCancer

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Brooklyn Rivera - 34
Business administrator
Dallas, TX (orig Covington, GA)

She seems to have some savvy about this game, but I don't know if that's her own or if she got some coaching from friend Aaryn. She and Angela have a moms F2 deal already, but that didn't ultimately work out so great for Helen and Elissa. She was way too perky and enthusiastic about organizing and hosting the talent show, but somebody has to bring the energy and a lot of them aren't.

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 1

Cam Sullivan-Brown - 25
Physical therapist
Bowie, MD

I don't see a lot of him but he seems to be in a good position right now, in a solid trio with Cedric and Chelsie, and they're embedded in various bigger alliances.

Won: Week 1 mascot/can't compete or vote

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Cedric Hodges - 21
Former Marine
Boise, ID (orig Running Springs, CA)

He's struggling some with feeling emotional and feeling bad about that, but maybe that's his Marine background acting up. Others have been encouraging and supporting him when he feels down and that's good. It's tough to start off in this with no chance of power or even a vote, but it worked out well for both him and Chelsie, and they ended up having a free pass week.

Won: Week 1 mascot/can't compete or vote

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Chelsie Baham - 27
Nonprofit director
Rancho Cucamonga, CA

See Cedric re mascot status. I think she's done more to help herself down the road than Cedric, setting herself up well socially this week when she was in no danger.

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Joseph Rodriguez - 30
Video store clerk
Tampa, FL

He seemed like he was in a prime position at first but then he slipped a bit. But overall I think he knows what he's doing in there and he should go far.

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 0

Kenney Kelley - 52
Former undercover cop
Boston, MA

His game and people reads are ridiculously bad, and he talks like he knows everything about BB when he clearly doesn't. He might end up providing a lot of unintentional humor if he sticks, but it doesn't seem like he'll stick for long.

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1

Kimo Apaka - 35
Mattress sales rep
Hilo, HI

He seems like one of the nicest and most genuine people in there, and it's tough to land on the block immediately for no real reason so it's fair and understandable he's been a bit gloomy here and there. But when asked what his ideal scenario for next week would be, he said 'I don't know, I guess someone who'd protect me?' So it seems he'll be a passive player and will go wherever the flow takes him, which is often deep into the jury phase.

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Leah Peters - 26
VIP cocktail server
Miami, FL (orig Pittsburgh, PA)

She likes to talk, a lot, often about herself, and often with the most random and funny topics. That might get old soon but for now she's bringing the stories and amusement that few others are. And she's our designated 'old tweets' hamster for that fun side game that's become a tradition in recent seasons.

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 1/0 - HN 0

Lisa Weintraub - 33
Celebrity chef
Los Angeles, CA

She was shocked to be the first nominee and made no secret about it, which is a fair reaction, but she ran so many loops and held so many meetings about it, it felt like a bit of entitlement was in place. Then she won the veto so all that was for nothing, but kudos to her for that: it's rare for a woman to win the first one.

Won: America's Veto for Weeks 1-4

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Makensy Manbeck - 22
Construction project manager
Houston, TX

She does nothing for me, but I have a feeling she's going to stick around a long, long time. Props for winning the veto power but wow she shouldn't have told Matt about it. That's going to put her in a very tricky position in a few days when he lands on the block.

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Matt Hardeman - 25
Tech sales rep
Roswell, GA (orig Loganvilla, GA)

I'm torn here. His first couple days holding court in the pantry and being manic made for great screenshots and gifs, but then he did a 180 and cried because a 50-year-old woman yelled at him, and he reeled himself way in. He's potentially good entertainment in an unintentional way so I'd be okay if he sticks around another week or two, but not much longer.

Won: Move-in comp advantage TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 1

Quinn Martin - 25
Nurse recruiter
Omaha, NE (orig Lawton, OK)

I think he may be driving the game but he does it very quietly and very subtly so it's hard to be sure. He's probably in the best position at the moment and he seems to know everything that's going on, and there's a lot going on.

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Rubina Bernabe - 35
Event bartender
Los Angeles, CA

I don't see a whole lot of her either - feeds have concentrated a lot on Angela, Matt, Makensy - but her talent show performance 'my talent is something rare, I will be shutting the fuck up' was the best part of the show and easily earns her ups.

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

T'kor Clottey - 23
Crochet business owner
Atlanta, GA (orig Chicago, IL/London, UK)

She's repeatedly said she's slow to open up to people but she's getting there, and I like what we're seeing. She's smart, game savvy, and fun, and she's gradually setting herself up to be in a good spot going forward.

Won: TBA

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 1

Tucker Des Lauriers - 30
Marketing and sales exec
Brooklyn, NY (orig Boston, MA)

Easy ups for spewing the most random and often wrong factoids, and for being generally weird and unpredictable. If/when he ends up as HOH I think we'll be in for a very wild ride.

Won: Control of the game

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0 - HN 0

Ainsley/AInsley - 24
Surf shop worker
San Diego, CA

She lost two votes to join as #17 so reverted to her robotic persona aka Artificial Intelligence Network Self-Learning Entity, and became a comp host.

"Position the habitat of your hamster somewhere light and airy, away from drafts, heaters, direct sunlight
and other pets. Never put it on or near a television, radio or hi-fi, or a fridge."
