Day 81 - Saturday - September 25, 2021

Derek found his fan and flapped it around like he did in the first days. I may be the only one who's missed it. Xavier coached and quizzed Derek about days and events for Part 2. He did not do the same to Azah: he told her that Part 2 is always something different. It's ironic and typically BB that the two arguably worst competitors of the season are going to face off today in what's often one of the most difficult comps, but here we are. As the three of them sat around together waiting, they talked about theories about life and job lies for everyone in the cast, and Derek said he thought Xavier had definitely had some lawyer training. Xavier said when Kyland or Hannah would whisper about those theories about him with people outside Cookout, it annoyed him, and that led to wider discussion about Cookout members allegedly trying to sabotage the alliance like that with non-members.

Feeds were down from 11.53am til 3.15pm and when they came back, Derek was laying on his bed, Azah was showering, Xavier was in Diary, and nobody was talking. But it soon came out that Azah had won Part 2, so she will go against Xavier live on finale to determine the final Head of Household. Xavier visited Derek who was depressed again, annoyed at himself that he "couldn't even win against one person" and he said his knees hurt during the comp. Xavier said he (Derek) will go to finals either way, as he'd take Derek and he said Azah would too. Azah then visited Derek, wearing one of his shirts, and consoled him, laying a hand on his cheek and then straddling him(?) until he said that hurt his knees. He said he was happy for her win, and "I just feel like I don't deserve to go any further," echoing most of BB Twitter.

No real word on what the comp was except for the knees, and rug burns, until later. It sounded similar to last year's hamster wheels comp (my personal favorite), maybe wheels again or maybe a flat treadmill. They had to run and then stop suddenly, plus putting cast faces in order. Azah completed it in 13 minutes, and Derek did it in 20.

They soon settled down to their usual dull: Azah and Xavier played cards while Derek prepped dinner. Xavier was a lot more animated than usual, and that general pattern is likely to continue over the next three days. Xavier cuddling with Azah could also increase a lot. Sure enough, and it didn't take long: after cards and food, Azah and Xavier cuddled up on the big blue white couch, while Derek went upstairs to the poker snug/skybridge area. BB ran a "no napping" announcement soon after, which Xavier didn't seem to like much. Derek continued complaining about his knees and hobbling around, they seemed legit jacked up. After snuggling time, Xavier studied days and events aloud on his own. They pulled some wine from the fridge, maybe part of last night's delivery that they saved, and they ate again. And they had another bottle of wine delivered as they rehashed the season, again.

Day 80 - Friday - September 24, 2021

It turned out that last night Derek had given Kyland a ring to hold to ensure his vote to keep Kyland, which Kyland clearly pocketed as Julie was giving Xavier his options about his veto. Why Derek gave it to him knowing he was going to evict Kyland is its own issue, though it's a fair guess he just didn't want to deal with pre-wrath from Kyland, in the same way Xavier didn't give him a heads up. For our purposes, Derek was annoyed about it today because Kyland walked out with it. I first thought it was his dad's ring, which would put it in a very pricey sports memorabilia category, but it turned out it was Derek's class ring from military school that his father bought him. He said he didn't expect Kyland would give it back and he could order a replacement, but it wouldn't have that sentimental value. Also, remember they still don't know his dad was Smokin' Joe Frazier.

Feeds remained quiet, with some talk about Kyland's messy exit, and the usual cycle of cooking, eating, rehashing, napping, card playing repeating itself, and feeds will probably stay quiet for the duration, other than when they do their Part 2 competition, likely tomorrow. They may have been shown their family videos again this morning? Or maybe they were just re-discussing them from last night, which was a pretty packed evening for them. Xavier spent some time tidying things up, arranging chess pieces, and trying different spots to put their memories meal flowers. He almost turned them in to BB but then decided they'd be okay in a corner of bathroom.

As usually happens with the final three, whenever one leaves to shower or goes into Diary, the other two talk game. Today when Azah was away, Xavier worked double-time to keep turning Derek away from Kyland and towards himself, and it seemed to be working. And they decided to name their twosome The Creed. I thought it was rather pointless to do that at this late stage but they seemed to think they'd be remembered like Renegades, Hitmen, etc. Maybe if they'd come up with it weeks ago, but of course they were still part of a trio until very recently. I don't think Xavier's put in too much work to turn Derek and Azah against each other, but he might: there's still days before the two Big Decisions will be made: both the third place cut and voting for the season winner will be live Thursday.

The memories meal/clips show came and went, with some fun Diary out-takes, some good segments, and a lot of fluff as always. Back in the habitat, they napped a lot, and apparently Diary said no to The Creed, so Xavier and Derek had another marathon session to come up with a name. They talked about future players referring to them and wanting to play like Whatever Name They Decide On. Again, that's unlikely to happen with a name that's determined this late and may never even make the show edit at all, not to mention how many other alliances they were both in along the way. It was like déjà vu all over again hearing them come up with dozens of good and bad names. I don't think Derek even considered that Xavier could be shmoozing him like he shmoozed Kyland all week, and maybe he wasn't, but that was a definite possibility. They finally tentatively agreed on Black Ops.

Feeds went to anipals from 7.42pm til 9.11pm but it wasn't for anything noteworthy. When they came back they were together at the table, with beers, and maybe they'd had food delivered and music. They were talking about last night's comp, and then about each of the evictees, and that led to various season rehashes, again. They seemed a bit sippy and in good spirits. Part 2 will likely happen tomorrow, and I was told the jury roundtable wouldn't be taped until Sunday. That's all I got.

I'll be here til the bitter end, but once again I'd like to thank each and every one of you who still visits the site for your catchups, stats, and hopefully a chuckle here or there, particularly when there are so many other outlets to get BB news and info. And I especially want to thank those of you who have made donations! You have no idea how very much I appreciate you! ♥

Day 79 - Thursday - September 23, 2021

Kyland finally packed, and it looked like he was sorting and packing everything, despite Xavier telling him "you're good" when Kyland asked yesterday if he needed to pack thoroughly. That annoyed Xavier, but I don't think Kyland realized it did. Late last night Kyland was still muttering to himself about F3 and wondering what the Part 1 competition might be. He did add some doubt to his mutterings, like "if I make it through to final three," but I guess he realized of course he should pack thoroughly at this stage of the game. Azah and Derek got a little snippy with each other again last night too, but they made it up.

The show tweeted that feeds would be down 11am to 11pm today. They didn't specify if those times were Pacific/BB or Eastern, but they went to adoptable anipals at 11am Pacific. Tonight they'll be doing Part 1 of the final HOH comp, typically endurance, and/or catered meal and champagne for the guided memories clips. They could fit both in before 11pm, and they did last year.

The show kicked off with both narrator and Julie saying "live" and eventually the text graphic popped up saying same, so it will remain a mystery why they blocked feeds so early today. The edit segments included Derek spats with Kyland and with Azah, and a lot of his "I ran the game" routine he's been spouting all week. And they built up a Kyland blindside, but they've done that before this season and they didn't pan out since the evictees were told they'd be going before those shows.

They ran two jury segments with Tiffany's and Hannah's arrivals, and Tiffany was finally able to tell them about Cookout. She said she didn't come up with the name but the partner/pawn plan was hers. The jurors praised her for that, and the entire alliance for pulling it off, and Tiffany told us she was relieved to be able to finally tell them all. They were shocked by Azah's nominations and Hannah's eviction, and most agreed both Kyland and Azah had made costly errors.

Then they got down to current business. Xavier did not use his veto, and Derek, after a short speech saying he didn't owe anyone anything and it was a game decision, said - correctly - "I cast my vote to evict Kyland."

That's when things got messy. Kyland was indeed blindsided, and he asked Xavier, not Derek, what happened, what was the reason? Xavier said "you'll find out" and Derek said "I can't beat you." Kyland said "I know, but no heads up or anything from this guy [Xavier]." Xavier said "this is how the game goes, Kyland" and said he'd love to have given him a heads up but he respected him too much as a player, and said Kyland could have persuaded Derek to keep him.

Then Kyland brought up Xavier's nephew Kobe, and isn't Xavier raising him to be a man, he named him after Kobe Bryant who wouldn't step down from a challenge. Xavier said "I suggest you stop talking about my nephew," but Kyland didn't, and added "if he has nobody to look up to.." to which Xavier said "keep talking about my nephew." This all took place at the front door, and Julie finally intervened and told Kyland to leave the house, twice, finally shouting his name. See Lines of the Day below for the full exchange.

His exit interview was typical Kyland: Julie asked her usual basically simple questions, and Kyland gave his usual convoluted non-answers. When Julie said he'll be back for finale, Kyland said he hoped that's not the only time he'll be back, putting in a pitch to be asked back for a future season.

Julie announced the viewer favorite vote was open with a $50,000 prize this year, and she confirmed second place was also upped, to $75,000 (which observant Hamsterwatchers already knew: it's been in my sidebar FAQ most of the season). The final three cracked open their traditional champagne and had time to toast and sip before the credits rolled.

Feeds returned at 10.56pm and Xavier had won Part 1. He was pacing and muttering to himself about Kyland bringing up his nephew, saying "let me show you about winning." It sounded like the comp was similar to Pose-in-Ivy/Puppets-on-Strings, and they were cold with some soreness. They'd also had their video messages from home, and their memories dinner. Azah and Xavier discussed Kyland's messy exit, and his history in there through the season and particularly the last couple weeks, over leftover champagne, and later Xavier and Derek did the same.

So Azah and Derek will compete in Part 2, likely on Saturday? That's usually a veto-type comp with a big set, focusing on season events. I'd guess the jury roundtable will be taped tomorrow.

8th juror - 13th evicted - Day 79

He kicked off his Week 2 HOH with 5-minute timed meetings with everyone before noms and it was glorious, especially after Frenchie's week of chaos. But the next day he held one-on-ones again after noms which dragged on and on, and he continued holding overlong meetings most of the season, even when he had no reason to do so. He paused, umm'd, and rambled literally for hours to the point of incoherence and when he ran out of hamsters to babble to, he turned to us. He stayed wrapped around SarahB until she left, and then he turned the Have-not room into his private office/isolation chamber. He wore a donkey suit and made club sandwiches for a week, and was one of several who seemed like they felt entitled to win. #Kycomplains was an unexpected season highlight when his many corporate complaint tweets were discovered. He went out blindsided, and was such a poor sport about it Julie had to yell at him to leave the house.

She thought she was hiding how brainy she was by not telling them she graduated university at 19, but she rattled off BB facts and trivia like a machine, as well as lengthy word-for-word convos plus analysis, and she didn't fool anyone. She shifted Derek X from teamie/buddy spot to her doomed partner/pawn when she joined Cookout and she never looked back. She strategized and ran constructive retells almost nonstop, but she did most of that in the background so tv-onlies probably weren't aware of how much she did. She laughed a lot, especially with Derek X, and she was a good confidante for Tiffany. She finally won an HOH and veto but it was too little too late, and she went out as a double eviction victim. Her goop-filled goggles on the wall comp will be one of the lingering photo moments of the season.

6th juror - 11th evicted - Day 71

She continuously shifted from hardcore strategist to everyone's sister/mom/friend/confidante, to being funny and comical all season long. She drove the game early on, and she overplayed a few times but she rebounded each time until she won the Flying BB-inos spinny comp. The Cookout guys decided she had to go for that, even though she'd evicted her own BFF Claire that week rather than one of them. She came up with Cookout's partner/pawn strategy way back on July 28, even though Derek F later tried to claim that was him. Tiffany took Kyland, Christian, Derek X, Claire, Hannah under her wing at various times, and all remained loyal to her except Kyland. Her social game was superb, she was fun and funny (especially her ongoing vendetta against Sarah Beth), as well as being sensitive and caring. Easily my star of the season.

She stayed so stapled to Christian I didn't know much about her until his exit. They added a couple tally items, and then she shifted to sticking to Xavier's side til her own exit. She was surely aware of his crush on her but she didn't take advantage of it or even mention it (that I'm aware of). She was an active participant in group games and she co-hosted The Big Blue Couch skit/show with Derek F. Game-wise, her Diaries made her sound like she was on top of everything but her actions in the house didn't come across that way. She went out thinking she was responsible for Claire's eviction but she'll find out how that really unfolded soon enough. She won OTEV and Zingbot vetos, and a High Rollers week that put her partner Xavier on the block.

4th juror - 9th evicted - Day 65

She came in an alternate, with a brainy job rather than the influencer or model wannabes we often get, and a feedster with a dedicated BB Twitter account. She cozied up with fellow Queen Tiffany early on and they stayed tight to the end. Claire seemed capable of making big moves but didn't make any, possibly because of being under Tiffany's wing but unaware of her Cookout agenda (although she did touch on the possibility a couple times), and she even kept Tiffany's noms intact when she won the secret HOH. She also won safety 'til jury' which gave her a two-week pass. Her friendships with Tiffany and Derek X were fun and easy, with a lot of laughter, but she got along with most everyone, and she had fun with her week of 52 Pickup.

This year's 'quirky girl,' she was one of many with a job/life lie, adjusting her drug testing/testifying to administrative assistant, but it ticked off some when she griped about quitting her job to be there. She won a paint splatter/memory Wildcard and a balance beam HOH, and she thought she was a badass villain by backdooring Derek X, but she was just doing Kyland's bidding. Tiffany gunned for her for weeks and that gave us moments like 'mistakenly' calling SB a sloth during a group animal game, and her 'fuck Sarah Beth and I said that shit' #FSBAISTS was an instant classic. SarahB spent much of her time laying around, usually entwined with Kyland, and she said viewers can 'wipe their butt with the BB bucks.'

2nd juror - 7th evicted - Day 51

He'd only seen two seasons and he didn't do much homework to know he'd signed up for a dirty game, but he was a quick study and saved himself with veto after being the probable first out. Then he won the following veto as well as an HOH, and he was a legitimate 'comp beast' threat. He was maneuvered into backdooring the other comp threat, Christian, on that HOH, and then SarahB was maneuvered into doing the same to him two weeks later. Again, homework might have helped. But he was well liked by most everyone in there and out here, he was a superb Lord of the Latrine and cockroach dancer, and he laughed a lot, something that's often missing on feeds.

1st juror - 6th evicted - Day 44

She went on the block four times, and she ranted, cried, and was a pretty bad sport about it. She only played the game around noms and voting times, so she didn't understand she kept going OTB because she didn't bother to find out what was going on, or to create allies beyond her Jokers team/roomies. The fact she was up against Cookout didn't help her any, but she could have done a lot more than she did, and she blamed her exit on a broken deal that was never struck. She rapped for Julie, and won a hard-fought veto, and broke in on Alyssa/Christian sexytime in HOH. She seemed to be playing a character much of the time, and she contributed a lot to their many skits and songs.

5th evicted - Day 37

It was tricky to tell him apart from Travis at first, which wasn't helped by Christian changing his hair once or twice a day, and he often sounded like Victor Arroyo when he spoke. But that passed and soon it was easy to tell Christian was the loud one who was super-glued to Alyssa most of the time. He was sometimes fun and seems like a good guy, but he made no secret of his physical abilities, including doing six backflip/burpie combos in a row one day, just because he could. Those abilities were largely what got him the boot, since he also proved he could put them into action, even when he didn't need to.

Apparently she spent a few hours on Twitter and she selected one of my tweets to complain about being villainized, slut shamed, and hated. My tweet was factual, with a touch of snark, but none of that stuff. Maybe she forgot what she signed up for, and I'm sure she's having a tough re-entry, but after having hate for her flung into my mentions every day (as all updaters get, for each of them) to then get called out publicly for what I didn't do, I'll just go with Mariah's 'I don't know her.'

At cast reveal I thought international flight attendant would mean great people skills, but no. He came in boasting of charm but it didn't last long. His talk about girls and dating, and his behavior towards several women in there, were problematic and bound to get worse if he'd stayed. He was happy to be Frenchie's lieutenant for the chaotic first week but then Brent turned on him and practically denied ever being with him. He had zero self-awareness about all this and the edits skewered him as they did Frenchie, proving once again if you do clownery, you'll get the clown music.

Cast reveal brought controversy plus a major Cody/Derrick mixup, and the feeds opened to him announcing he wouldn't put up a woman or minority, but then he put up Alyssa and Kyland, and it was downhill from there. He did everything a feedster should know not to do: shouting in Diary, talking in cliches, Bomb Squadding, pandering, power-tripping, mistaking BB history items, grandstanding, begging for a viewer save, and threatening to quit. Still, all that gave us a wild ride and super-chaotic first week of feeds that we'd never be able to piece together if we hadn't seen it unfold.
