Daily Feeds Recaps

Day 3 - Friday - July 9, 2021

They were roused around 9am and they hit the ground running. Azah told Derek F that Frenchie was playing for Twitter and the audience, rather than for himself, and she said he'd changed his target multiple times. Others also commented about Frenchie's changing targets in various chats. Frenchie exited a Diary session having clearly been crying. He got hugs from Xavier and Brent, and Frenchie said there's too much fakeness in there, and those two have been "realest" with him. (Never mind that Brent was his target 24 hours ago.)

Frenchie then chaired a meeting in the Have-not jet-ski room with one of his alliances: Xavier, Brent, Travis, and told them he didn't want to get HOH-itis (too late!) He told them Derek X is no longer his target since they'd hashed things out in a talk (same way Brent got off the hook), and he pushed for Alyssa because she's closest to Christian. Frenchie would like to target Christian but he earned safety yesterday, and they agreed to gun for him next week. (That will change 1,000 times by then of course.) Xavier said the Alyssa/Christian attraction was one-sided so it wasn't fair to aim for her, and he said he'll suggest to her that she distance herself from Christian a bit.

Feeds went to adoptable anipals at 12.19pm and returned around 2pm, and Frenchie had nominated Alyssa and Kyland. Alyssa was complaining and wondering why, and repeating that Frenchie wouldn't look her in the eye during the ceremony. Kyland was in HOH to ask why, and Frenchie shmoozed him, saying he nominated Alyssa for a Reason (that he'll talk to her about), Kyland is a pawn, etc. Frenchie guaranteed Kyland he'll either win veto or have it used on him, and then "the big fish" will go up and out. He used that term in his speech, referring to Christian, in an apparent pre-emptive strike at what he perceives is a potential showmance. So much for Frenchie's Night 1 guarantees that he wouldn't nominate a woman or a minority.

Kyland had a quick check-in with Alyssa before she went to confront Frenchie. Frenchie said she lied to him when he'd asked what she knew about alliances and she'd said nothing. He accused her of being tight with Christian, and with SarahBeth, and Alyssa said they're not only her teamies, but they're forced to eat and sleep together as Have-nots. He told her she was his "perfect bait" to catch his "big fish." Alyssa said "so you're talking about fishing?" He went on to say how he needed to ferret out alliances, and she said "I'm the guinea pig to figure things out for yourself?" (Technically she's a hamster.) Christian joined and the alliance accusation and denial loops continued, while the rest of the house scurried around to try to figure out what the heck was going on.

These feeds are a hot mess! There isn't enough popcorn in the world, and it's only Day 3.

HOH group meetings went on and on in various combos, and the rhetoric continued to fly, along with the cliches and Reasons and safety guarantees, and Butchers and Slaughterhouses. Derek F coached Derek X to just go knock on Frenchie's door and ask to talk to him, he has a right, and Claire joined in to encourage that. Derek said things were crazy especially since only one show has aired so far, and Claire said with a smile that she thought the live feeds were probably good. She not only gets it, but it seemed like she might be on Team Fun Feeds.. before being in there, that is.

Xavier was alone and crying for quite awhile. Derek F checked on him and Xavier said he just needed a minute. He did some pacing and sniffling, and then was okay and socializing again. Later he told Brent and Travis that he didn't want to "lead with it" to them, but in addition to bartending he does some modeling. (Reminder, he is really an attorney, but he might do modeling as well - his Instagram has some photos that look like pro modeling shots).

Later still, Xavier told Derek F he was upset earlier because he lost his brother in April, and he'd gone into sequester before learning cause of death details, and siblings chit-chat had gotten to him. Derek F thanked him for his confidence, and told him to take timeout if he needs it, and he's always there to talk. And they shouted out BB Canada 9's Tychon and Jedson. All but the Have-nots enjoyed dinner by Azah and Derek F, and everything calmed down greatly from earlier, with a lot of get-to-know-you chats. Derek X apologized to Frenchie for having "trusted the wrong person" (Travis, I think), and said "at this point I deserve to go home." Frenchie said they'll talk more later when his room is available - door lock problems.

Azah, Alyssa, Derek F discussed Frenchie's chaotic HOH, noms and speech, and they laughed about his antics, particularly with Derek F cracking the jokes. Xavier told Kyland about the Cookout alliance (Azah, Derek F, Tiffany, Xavier) and invited him in, saying "it's bigger than all of us." I'm unclear if Kyland knew about it before and if not, why not, but he's onboard now. We learned the usual hugs weren't there after noms, which might set a precedent for the season? We'll see. Chit-chat carried on everywhere, as did gametalks, and the everlasting talk about prior seasons and hamsters. Some of that's fun for awhile, and it's a common bond and conversation point for them, so that's okay. For now. Britini told Frenchie about a sister who died, before Britini was born (which brought fishies/no fishies, maybe her family didn't sign releases?) That was probably what Xavier heard earlier, which would be understandably triggering, especially for such a recent death.

As they started drifting away to their beds, Frenchie held another meeting with Christian, Kyland, Xavier, Derek F and suggested they add Whitney, Alyssa, Brent as their extras. (Yes, this after he put Kyland and Alyssa on the block today.) The three were summoned to HOH and Frenchie started to pitch his lines in the sand to them, but then he had an extended convo with Hannah on the HOH balcony, asking her to use veto on Kyland if she plays and wins. Mess.

Day 2 - Thursday - July 8, 2021

Many of them stayed up very late, and Britini kicked off the pinkyswear tally below with not one but two: Whitney (with bonus kiss the pinky) and Azah (with bonus hug and two-way love yous). Reminder, I didn't do much pre-season research on them but was under the impression Hannah was a hardcore superfan based on some of her QA answers. Turns out she only started watching last year because COVID lockdown, but she learned enough to make Britini tell Frenchie that Hannah scares her because she knows so much BB. For her part, Hannah said she doesn't think she qualifies as a superfan because she's never watched feeds. It's nice to hear that distinction on feeds: normally we have hamsters calling themselves superfans because they've seen six episodes.

Pre-noms kiss the ring talks with Frenchie kicked off of course, as did alliance roulette, which took on Devin's Bomb Squad proportions. The Slaughterhouse consists of Frenchie, Britini, Whitney, Azah, Derek F, Kyland, Tiffany, with various smaller alliances within that group. Frenchie, who'd said he'll target bro-jocks, had an awkward chat with his prime target Brent, but they both apologized for not spending enough time with each other yet, and for misreading first impressions. Frenchie pitched a deal to keep Brent safe if he'll do the same next week if he's HOH. That would leave Christian and Travis as potential nominees, and maybe Brent as renom if needed. There was some talk between Travis and Christian about Teams Queens and Kings teaming up, and some talk about a Cookout alliance comprised of Azah, Derek F, Tiffany, Xavier.

However, they weren't yet aware of the Wildcard comp that could give someone on the losing Aces, Kings, Queens teams safety this week if the Wildcard winner opts for that, as it would also bring a punishment for themselves, their team, or the house. Feeds went to adoptable anipals around noon for them to learn about the comp and make their picks, which were Christian for Team Kings, Kyland for Team Queens, Hannah for Team Aces. Then feeds went down again, presumably for the comp. Earlier, Tiffany put her braids in two little topknots but then said no, we'd call her Raven if she did that, and she took them out. Credit @rbbq for the screencap, thanks!

Fortunately, adoptable anipals from Rancho Coastal Humane Society returned for planned feeds blocks, and our usual somewhat-too-loud music loop replaced last night's way-too-loud TURN IT UP.

Feeds finally returned around 6.45pm and they got the backyard just then, which made them squeal and scream. As we saw in the premiere, Dr Will's Porch (as I'm calling it) is accessible to them via a second spiral staircase, and it has additional seating areas and foosball. Several switched to swimsuits and got in the pool, some ran laps, some played pool, some plopped onto the hammock, and psst-pssting kicked off all over. They did have their competition but I didn't hear who won. Frenchie told Azah that Derek X is stirring things up and throwing names under the bus. He didn't come out and say Derek X, but confirmed it was when she guessed. There was talk about Frenchie holding an alliance meeting later tonight to discuss new noms options and come up with volunteer pawns, as it was said Frenchie "only has six to choose from now." That could mean Christian won the Wildcard? We'll see. A Frenchie alliance meeting could mean a big crowd, almost a house meeting.

Yep, Christian won the first Wildcard comp, and was able to save one other person on his team - he selected Xavier. That doesn't sound like a punishment as explained pre-seasoned, but maybe he had a double or nothing offer and won. We'll see how things unfold.

In double good news, ants were discovered on Dr Will's Porch already! Now that they're moved in and cooking/eating, it's just a matter of moments before they take over the kitchen. And they got a booze delivery around 9pm! I don't know if they did the traditional move-in champagne last night or if this was to replace that but either way, things are looking up! Have-nots couldn't have any but they joined in for the toast to themselves and the season, which was beautifully led by Tiffany.

Travis told Derek X he'd felt a shift in the house vibe, and they realized they might be in trouble since people weren't gametalking with them anymore. Frenchie finally started his meeting(s) around 10.35pm, first by dramatically telling Derek F, Christian, Xavier, Kyland that they're the core five. He said he's "ready to ride or DIE with this! We are going to piss fans OFF with this!" He said they need to add three more side members to have eight (even though seven votes will be needed to evict this week). He again said Derek X was causing drama and "starting rumors about everybody." Frenchie then approached a hammock group of Alyssa, Claire, Hannah, SarahBeth and told them he had The Perfect Plan, and asked for volunteers to go up against Derek X for a "guaranteed unanimous vote." SarahBeth was more or less settled on. Retells and fallout carried on far and wide, including Sarah, Alyssa, Hannah, Whitney being upset after Frenchie promised them safety last night, and Tiffany telling Whitney "it's a Bomb Squad situation."

In short, Frenchie swore last night he wouldn't nominate minorities or women, and 24 hours later he was ready to put up Derek X and Sarah. It's a big fat mess and it's only going to get messier. I have a feeling a lot of first weeks are like this but we don't see them, and it's hard to piece it together from retells alone. I'm pacing myself.

Reminder, if you missed what came before, check my previous episode, always linked up top or from my season index, and get the feeds to catch anything you missed with Flashback!
