Last week Julie said tonight would be live but last night's end-of-show narrator did not, so they're probably taping an hour or two early, possibly to avoid the risk of having to switch to backup power during the live show, since rolling blackouts are again possible throughout California today due to excessive heat. At any rate, timing of the morning HOH lockdown would tip us off about pre-taping (even though we already know because we listen to the narrator), and the length of that lockdown could tip off the hamsters that it's a two hour show.Julie got right to business after the recap which included Dr Will's second message, and told them it was a double. Kevin was evicted 6-0, didn't hug anyone, and he got choked up when Julie said his convos about race and gender had been on the show, and he thanked her/them for showing those. He admitted that he pretty much skated through last time but this season wasn't as fun since he was on the block so much. They went right to the first HOH comp which was It's All About Will, true/false details about Dr Will's two Neighbor videos. Dani, Tyler, David went out on the first question, Nicole on the fourth, and Enzo, Christmas on the fifth, leaving Memphis as the first quickie HOH. He nominated David and Nicole, and they went to play Ice in Your Veins veto. Additional players drawn were Christmas, Dani, Tyler. They had to cross balance beams across fire and ice set decor, and rearrange an ice veto symbol puzzle into a fire symbol. Falls from the beams would be eliminated but no one fell. Nicole hit her button first but her puzzle wasn't right, and Christmas won. Quick buzz meetings included Nicole telling Christmas "you're my number one, everyone knows it." After commercial, Julie told us she wouldn't tell them it's a triple just yet, but seconds later they saw the logo on her screens on their monitor. That would have been an even bigger oops if they hadn't already half spoiled the big surprise via Dr Will. Christmas did not use her veto, and David was evicted 3-2, with Christmas and Tyler the dissenting votes against Nicole. David also didn't hug anyone, and he told Julie he was proud to have come this far after being first out last time, and he was especially pleased about having won the dark room comp that he'd lost on the first night last year. He said the Nicole/Da'Vonne vote drama was definitely frustrating but a great move for Nicole. They used the same HOH and veto sets for the next cycle, it being a chaotic evening with virus protocols still in place. The next HOH comp was It's All About You, seven true/false statements about minor season events and Julie's words this evening. Everyone got the first one right, Enzo, Dani, Nicole were out on the second, everyone remaining got the third right, and Christmas, Cody missed the fourth so Tyler won that HOH. He nominated Dani and Nicole, with many apologies to Nicole that he'd made a mistake on the prior vote. The second veto was Feet to the Fire, and Christmas, Cody, Enzo were picked to play. This time they had to cross the balance beams, get pieces from the fire veto puzzle and carry them back one at a time, and rebuild the puzzle. Again, falls were eliminated and Christmas did just that, along with Nicole in yet another rather spectacular fall. Tyler won the veto. Dani told crying Nicole "if you stay, frickin get them out, Christmas first." Tyler didn't use his veto, Dani gave a nominee speech scorcher saying Tyler and Christmas have a Final Two deal and Christmas had a power, and Dani was evicted 4-0. She did give hugs but snubbed Christmas, and they exchanged a couple words at the door. Julie asked her about that and Dani said she doesn't like her. Dani said she was "flabbergasted" and "genuinely hurt" by Cody's vote, but I guess she forgot that first wall yeller who said "Cody and Nicole are playing everyone," as did most everyone else, and few even used that to take a closer look at those two. Dani also mentioned Tyler wanting to quit awhile back several times. Julie reminded her she'd won the big prize on her last season, meeting Dominic and now having Tennessee with him, and Dani agreed. Back in the habitat, Memphis hit the deck saying the second veto had killed him, and Nicole lay on the key room floor complaining she's all alone now. Julie told them they were the Final Six, nobody is coming back, and she confirmed for them the finale is October 28. As per the new and unwelcome norm, feeds remained down until a little after 10pm when the show ended in the west. They'd done the next HOH comp and Cody won again. Hamsters were tired, horizontal, and dozing, and they were wrapping up their Diary farewells for David and Dani. Christmas started telling Cody about her stress and anti-depressants, and griping about people with "millions of opinions on a fraction of what they saw." Nicole broke out in tears again, telling Cody she hated both Christmas and Memphis, and she said she was feeling guilty, and the worst player, and they should all want to bring her to finals because anyone could beat her. Memphis and Tyler got their goodie baskets at 11.10pm, with wine in each, and they read their letters from Memphis's mom and Tyler's nieces, on feeds. Enzo picked Nicole for his Have-not replacement and they were told she'd be the last one this season. She freaked out about sleeping alone, but the rest of them said they'll take turns being her boiler room roomie. They all helped her move in, and they said the room smelled really bad. They joked they'd all sleep in there with her tonight but she said she'd try it solo. Cody and Enzo had a quick whisper and it seems noms will be Tyler and Christmas, with Christmas the target. Enzo told Cody that Memphis had talked about making sure Tyler goes (Enzo agreed with Memphis in that convo), but Cody said Tyler isn't going anywhere, and they just had to make sure Memphis didn't win veto and use it on Christmas. Enzo said Memphis would keep noms the same if he wins the veto. Cody finally got his room back at 1.20am, and it wasn't on feeds. Reminder, if you missed what came before, check my previous episode, always linked up top or from my season index, and get the feeds to catch anything you missed with Flashback! Day 59 - Friday - October 2, 2020Not surprisingly, there was a lot of patting themselves on the back for surviving the triple, and for doing so well when everything is so hard. Memphis said he used to get annoyed when people would say he only got to the end because of Dan. Enzo agreed and said people don't know how hard it is to get to the end. Nicole went to fetch her bucket of slop and told Cody in the pantry about Christmas: "she cried herself to sleep because I think she feels so guilty [about voting to evict Nicole]," adding "I hope it eats away at her." Cody said "omg take it easy."Meanwhile Christmas made up a big pot of slop for Nicole, which Nicole thanked her for, saying it would last her the week. Just as Christmas said "I made it extra thick" her wooden spoon snapped in her hand. Christmas said she "almost impaled" herself, and Nicole said it happened because "it's so sticky and hard." The jokes write themselves, as usual. Tyler asked Enzo if he'd be going up, and Enzo suggested he have a story/excuse ready about his vote to evict Nicole last night when he talks to Cody. Pre-noms meetings kicked off with Memphis as he and Cody rehashed last night, and griped about Christmas. Cody held his pre-nom meetings, beginning with Memphis. Cody told him "this whole entire game, Christmas has had a false sense of her power," as if that's news to anyone. Next was Tyler, and Cody pretty much said he'd be going up against Christmas. Tyler said he wouldn't have Memphis's vote and Cody said he would have Enzo's and Nicole's. They ended with a hug, of course. As they talked, Christmas was revving up as she talked to Enzo, who egged her on, like he does. Next up was Nicole, and Cody told her he'd told Diary he was "55/45, not 80/20" about Christmas/Tyler noms, and Nicole played up her horrible betrayal by Christmas last night. Finally it was Christmas's turn. She rehashed last night and said she felt "duped" how things went down, she looked for people to verify votes with blinks but came up blank, and and then she had to vote first. She said she was "a bit teary eyed" for betraying Nicole, and both of them double-talked with a whole lot of words, a whole of those words the word "like." Afterwards Christmas was noticably irritated. She had a rehash of last night and a mini victim-off with Nicole, also ending with a hug, and she told Memphis if she's up next to Tyler, he (Tyler) cannot win veto, and she ranted to Enzo. She said he wouldn't have to use veto on her if she wins because she was confident she'd have his and Memphis's votes, and she said she might not even use it on herself if she wins. Cody nominated Tyler and Christmas as planned, and for the most part, warned. Feeds came back when they were still in the hugging stage, something that used to happen regularly but not so much this season. Christmas told Tyler she wasn't mad about it, and "if you play the game right, I'm not popping off - if you come at me personally with bullshit, I'm gonna pop off," and they agreed Cody "did it right." Christmas added she knew Cody was "protecting his girl." Nicole griped to Cody that she hates when Tyler wins comps, and Christmas had a follow-up meeting with Cody. I don't know why, but it's something nominees have been doing this season. She asked if he has any additional questions she could clear up, and he again said no. She got very sniffly but said she wasn't taking it personally. With no need to pick veto players since all six will play, we now settle in for the long wait til the veto comp. And the middle sized table if they even bother with that - it normally comes for eight left. With virus protocols in place, maybe they'll just wait for the tiny table for final four. The rest of the day had lots of rehashes of the triple, and the season, as well as future plans, all contingent on "we have to win" the veto and/or HOH of course. Christmas held a long solo talk with the cameras. Enzo had Cody, Tyler, Memphis rolling with laughter for his impersonations of Christmas, and later everyone but Christmas retold some of the fights on their seasons, including a group effort for Keesha's birthday fight, and Nicole told about Paul yelling at her as Corey came out to strip his costume. Cody told about Frankie's ridiculous "social media mogul" moment, which became even more ridiculous when starfishies popped up for mentions of Ariana. You couldn't make it up if you tried.
