Day 61 - Sunday, August 14

We want pie

Things settled down some after the best day of feeds this season, and arguably one of the best ever.. Paul got a RED ALERT wake-up signal just as some were starting to get up and rattle around, but he was still dead in bed.. he did his pat-downs and checkpoints with his usual flair and when he went back to bed, he happened to line up with his pelican like they were soldiers on the same goon squad

Paulie started up his loops to try to get Victor to replace him with Natalie, including pitching that to blockmate Corey - who does that? His routine now includes not wanting to be trapped inside jury house, his alleged shrink story, he didn't get a care package because viewers didn't think he needed it, paying for cancer treatments for his aunt (sometimes his grandmother), and not wanting to bake pies all summer.. when he brought it to Victor, Vic remained calm, cool and logical, and shut him down completely - Flashback 8/14 12.01pm

Paulie continued to retell every convo to someone afterward but now they're all retelling them to each other too, with shrugs and shaking heads.. as of 2pm, he still hasn't gotten his pie signal and feedsters want to know why.. Brittany's 2400 goals, Shelli's 2400 battles, Raul's 1000 lassos were all done with good cheer and few complaints, even though those three had been kind of complainy types before.. Paulie keeps saying he plays like his brother but Cody took his 2400 kicks while this current Calafiore seems to be refusing to make a damn pie, and The Powers That Be seem to be indulging him

Paul told Victor it might be time to start instilling a little paranoia in Corey (and Nicole) that he might be going instead of Paulie, to rattle them for Thursday's HOH comp.. Paul said it might be "a job for Big Meech".. Paul got another RED ALERT before the show hit the air in the east and another while it was on.. he also had a very lengthy chat to us about everything under the sun, with a request for people to wait two months before talking BB to him - good luck with that

Natalie and James had another round of tension, this one because she didn't like Corey planning to go out with James after the show and "find girls" and she said James was playing along with that.. Paul intervened and said they all have to play along with things in the situation.. James and Natalie talked it out and had a sincere hug, but she stayed a little upset and rewind, repeat.. she had a long talk to us about it all, and everything else

We got pie

Meanwhile, feedsters were getting pretty restless about the pie situation but after a Diary session or three, Paulie finally showed up in a red, white, blue hat and apron, and a basket of pie-making equipment - Flashback 8/14 7.59pm.. shortly after that came the first PIE SIGNAL: Zingbot singing "oh say can you zing?"

Paulie's heart was clearly not in it but he went through the motions, all the while making excuses for his lack of pie abilities.. he got prefab apple pie filling that he had to cut up and add apples to, prefab rolled fresh piecrusts, and prefab lattice toppers.. he also has to clean everything up when finished with each pie.. a small crowd gathered to watch and they kind of marveled at the prefab pie parts, as did many feedsters, and then things went south

When the pies go in the oven, Paulie has to set a timer 40 minutes and wave a little Zingbot for President flag til the timer dings.. by the time the first one went in the oven, Paulie clearly felt defeated and began to sniffle and whine about his situation and his ex girlfriend.. Paul and Natalie peptalked him, and all the while he was waving his little flag back and forth while trying not to cry.. it was one of the most surreal things ever on feeds

That went on too long but the timer finally dinged and pie came out, looking not too awful for a first attempt.. as designated security expert, Paul tried it to ensure its safety and said it tasted pretty good.. Paulie said he wanted to work out and get all those emotions buried behind him, and he went out to the yard to run

That's when a second PIE SIGNAL hit.. Paulie kept running and Diary called him, but he kept running.. there were a very lot of fishies, and then Corey was giving Paulie a peptalk smackdown in the kitchen

Corey's voice was raised and he firmly told Paulie he had to suck it up, they "got fucked" but they had to get over it, "don't do this to yourself" and how it's going to look bad to his family and friends.. it was Corey's shining moment of the season, and he did it in a patriotard with a dented top hat - Flashback 8/14 8.38pm

They wrapped with a major bro hug and Paulie went back to running.. but then the PIE SIGNAL came again and he went to gather his pie supplies, and he set about making his second pie with a slightly better attitude and a little more interest.. he even commended Bridgette on making a perfect apple pie now that he realized what goes into it, and hers was from scratch

Meanwhile James and Natalie went another round - she said she wants to sleep alone tonight to de-stress and that worried and confused him again.. Paulie decided he'd try to get James put up as renom and went on rounds about that, pointlessly.. notes were compared all over town, and it was pretty funny to see a man in black with a pelican swimmy talking to a traffic cone, while an Uncle Sam type roamed around

But that's not all! RED ALERT sounded and Paul jumped into action in full character even more than before.. he had to chase down most of his subjects this time only to "find" contraband on them, and he made arrests with the pelican.. he did backflips over the sofas and power slides across the table, and he threw doors open and held out his finger-gun everywhere, even on the pantry fridge

He was ridiculously out of breath when he finally secured the habitat once more, and then RED ALERT sounded again as soon as he finished.. he did the second one as extreme as the first, and overall the two rounds were hilarious (except when Paulie took the opportunity to gametalk during his capture).. it proved even more what fun Paul's having with this task and what a good sport he is, especially compared to Paulie's pie drama - Flashback 8/14 10.23pm

Day 60 - Saturday, August 13

Benny in the house

Benny the comp squirrel came inside to usher in the new Have-nots, at 8am no less.. HOH comp first outs were Michelle, Nicole, Natalie, but Natalie was excused with her Never-not Pass.. the Michigan girls will "eat like a squirrel" with sunflower seeds and corn on the cob.. coming down the stairs and seeing the display, Paulie griped that "corn's got no nutritional value" but it didn't affect him like he feared.. Natalie and Michelle were thrilled, Natalie because sunflowers are her favorite and Michelle because another item to check off her BB bucket list, but Nicole wondered why her safety suit didn't make her exempt

James, Nicole, Paul were picked to play for veto with Victor, Corey, Paulie, and Natalie will host.. Zingbot in the audience on Thursday's show plus one cam on Diary door before feeds cut made me think it might be time for zings, but we'll find out soon enough

Encouraged by the others to get him rattled before the veto comp, Paulie started up his loops again.. he pointed fingers and shifted side to side to make his points, most of which were systematically shot down by one hamster after another, undoing all his individual filibusters last night.. he acted like a second string prosecutor in a bad soap opera, rehashing ancient history and crimes committed against him in multiple failed attempts to defend his own double standards, alliance double dipping, and blatant misogyny

Everyone was in on it in turn except Corey and Nicole, with Michelle providing extremely well-placed barbs and commentary throughout.. at one point she walked behind him making explosion sounds, adding a whole new layer to her ongoing "I'm blowing up his game" routine.. Flashback 8/13 9.42 and just let it roll.. they also shot down his everlasting Cody and Derrick loops, with Michelle stating the truth bluntly that he isn't them

Zingbot for President

Zingbot did indeed make his/her annual appearance, and is running for president.. they had Zingbot for President shirts and hats, and there were a lot of red, white and blue confetti bits on them and in their clothes.. Victor won the veto in what they said was a "crapshoot" comp.. James won $5,000; Paul has to run around the habitat for 24 hours whenever a signal rings, patting down hamsters and hitting various checkpoints; Corey got a week in a patriotard; Paulie has to make apple pies the rest of the season; and Nicole got a trip "anywhere in the US"

Paulie put on his big boy pants and said a few words about hoping they keep him and if not, so be it.. shortly after, he retired to his bed, possibly marooned.. later he told Nicole he "ain't staying" in jury house after a week or two, once he's sure there's not chance at revival

The zings didn't sound too inspired.. I'll fill in the gaps as I hear more about them, but so far this is what I've got:

Corey - can't sweep Nicole off her feet because Hayden already did
James - he's been scaring people but it's her parents who are scared
Michelle - something about VomitCrybaby
Natalie - armpit hair
Nicole - she's got no chance of winning
Paul - he's got so many catchphrases, here's one for him: "shut the fuck up" (they were surprised Zingbot said all the words - maybe they missed Kathy Griffin's "Zing motherfucker, zing" to BB16 Zach)
Paulie - poor man's Cody
Victor - you are a douchebag, in Spanish

Corey's patriotard consisted of star-spangled unitard, overshorts, cape, top hat, Zingbot delegate placard and very cool bald eagle hand puppet, christened Baldwin.. he's supposed to wear the hand items at all times including at least one while showering, but you know how Corey is - that didn't last long

Paul's secret service outfit was a black suit and skinny tie, sunglasses, radios and earpiece.. when the RED ALERT SECURITY BREACH signal sounds, he has to pat each of them down, then walk to five checkpoints and "radio" in that they're secure

Checkpoints are upstairs balcony, Have-not carnival room, bathroom, front door, and skybridge.. he said he has to wear the tie, earpiece and sunglasses at all times, and they have a short-sleeve suit for him for hot outdoor days.. he did his first rounds superbly, staying in character throughout, and the other costumes made it even better.. he did his second rounds when most of them had gone to bed and were asleep or almost there, including him - Flashback 8/24 2.12am

Paulie has to make apple pies for the rest of the season (or until he's evicted).. I think his signal will be a bit of the national anthem, but they send any details of his task to fishies (why?).. he moped around between fits of his justification/denial/poor me/campaign loops and saying he'll quit and go home rather than stay in jury house til finale, and at one point he said he lied in the casting process because a therapist had told him he shouldn't do it because claustrophobia, and he didn't disclose that.. when he went to Diary to get his pie instructions, everyone talked about him and his behavior, including Nicole and Corey, who are also over him at this point.. Nicole gave him a good peptalk afterward

Celebrity Big Brother

Another celeb series kicked off July 28! Outside UK, use Hide My Ass to watch live or archive shows and clips.. there are loads of other VPNs out there but I use and recommend HMA because it's safe, secure, and easy to use (just select a UK server), available for multiple platforms, plus they have great customer service for questions or problems

You can watch live at Channel 5's online live stream link.. shows are usually daily, plus Bit on the Side talk show and an hour live from the house, but check the air show schedule - remember UK time is 8 hours ahead of Pacific and 5 hours ahead of Eastern.. the official site has archive air shows and talk shows, highlights, previews, and info

Ratings - Camp Letters special edition

Ratings are Saturday's, based on entertainment value, with a couple Sunday updates

Dear Producers,
It feels like you're turning on your golden pee boy and that's encouraging, but we'll see what Sunday's edit and/or the mysterious special Friday show brings. I'd say we'll see what his envelope holds but that's all pure chance, right? Super big ups for superb costumes this time, interesting tasks, and for letting Benny come inside for a little while. We desperately needed something to offset the boredom and you delivered.
Your pal,
dingo
PS Rare secondary ups have been added for that Sunday edit.

Won: $2,500; 1 week patriotard
TEAM FREAKAZOID

NOMINATED
Dear Corey,
Your forest fire story was as upsetting as your goat story. I hope your horrible past behavior is in the past, and I wish you'd stop talking about it. Remember pre-season when you told Jeff your reputation means everything to you? Oopsie. However, you rocked the patriotard like a star so you get a temporary upgrade to neutral.
Your pal,
dingo
PS Good job with the Sunday smackdown peptalk. Paulie needed it.

Won: $5,000; care package #2; immunity 1st 2 evictions; nullify 2 votes
TEAM UNICORN

Dear James,
It's a good thing you turned on your boys and did the right thing, because your stock was about to hit rock bottom with fans, and I know that means a lot to you. You're not doing fake talk show stage management or setting up bowling or pot ball games, so you might as well play Big Brother. What do you say? You're not getting the $25k again so you might as well play the game they're paying you extra to play.
Your pal,
dingo

Won: 8 days pixel suit; Outback dinner
TEAM CATEGORY 4

Dear Michelle,
You're something of a nutcase (not that there's anything wrong with that) but when you come through, you deliver in spades. You were a key part in getting this flip to happen and I salute you for that, and then you revved up into high gear for Saturday morning's confrontation and delivered one classic line after another. Keep up the good work.
Your pal,
dingo

Won: Care package #1; Immunity 1st 2 evictions; Never-Not Pass
TEAM UNICORN

Dear Natalie,
A lot of people still think you're just there having a lovely time at summer camp but I know better. You were the linchpin of the flip, the anchor leg of the relay, and you made it turn from a nebulous possibility into a done deal. Great job and I salute you.
Your pal,
dingo
PS You don't need to sign on and sign off when you talk to us. It's kind of weird because you were there before 'Hello America' and you're still there after 'Bye America'.

Won: $2,500; trip to Anywhere USA; Care package #3; 1 week immunity plus safety costume
TEAM FREAKAZOID

Dear Nicole,
You bound yourself to the wrong people and you probably have no way out at this point except through the front door to Julie's boudoir sometime before finale night. This shouldn't have happened but maybe it did because you've spent all season in bed with Corey. Like James, you're being paid extra to play Big Brother and you aren't. You've ended up with one ally after another that you've turned against but for no good reason, least of all to help your own game. However, like your bedmate, you're wearing your costume well and it's very cute on you, so you get a neutral. And it's keeping your hair out of #Deathrace2016 for a change.
Your pal,
dingo

Won: 1 week secret service; Outback dinner (guest)
TEAM BIG SISTER

Dear Paul,
Zingbot had it right. Your catchphrases are stale and you do need to STFU more often. Or at least bring the volume down. But you were a big part of the house shift and you were gutsy to turn on your fellow Pee-Pee like you did. Your secret service debut was excellent in every way and I'm glad you're the one who ended up with it. You'll do it justice like none of the others could.
Your pal,
dingo

Won: 8 days pixel suit; apple pies til the end; Outback dinner
TEAM CATEGORY 4

NOMINATED
Dear Paulie,
You know how you have that phobia about the number nine? You're going to be the ninth one evicted.
Your pal,
dingo

Won: Revival; immunity 1st 2 evictions
TEAM UNICORN

HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD
HOLDS VETO
Dear Victor,
We missed the first week when everyone decided to hate you so I've given you a pass for that. You saved the day by putting up Paulie and you won the veto to ensure he goes. Fantastic! All that time with Jozea must have rubbed off: you're the real BB messiah (this week anyway), and I hope people vote you for Care Package #4 as a thank you.
Your pal,
dingo
PS Pro tip: ease up on all the comp wins bragging. Nobody wants to go up against a comp beast in the last weeks. They'll boot you out again if you keep reminding them you are one.

Won: 8 days pixel suit; Outback dinner
TEAM CATEGORY 4

She was super perky and upbeat, with a dark side that was fun and fascinating. She was in a pixel bikini when feeds began, and she formed a solid friendship/alliance with Bronte and Natalie. She baked cookies nonstop and gathered intel for the Spygirls as everyone overlooked her and gametalked around her in the kitchen. Michelle hated her over a misunderstood eyebrows comment, and then Bridgette became everyone's target when she buddied up with Frank and won an HOH and veto the same week. But she survived two evictions after his, and openly confronted Michelle about their drama, eventually winning her over. She embraced Tiffany's Cabbage Patch tag, and she'll be missed.

Won: Outback dinner (guest)
TEAM BIG SISTER

Stunningly gorgeous plus photogenic, she came in as a fan since BB3 but said she was up for a showmance. She focused on the latter when she took a shine to Paulie, and that progressed from awkward overlong hugs to bumping in bumpercars. He gave her several verbal beatdowns but she kept going back for more, even as he plotted her demise with his boys. She also took a shine to a stuffed giraffe and gave it a birthday party, and she formed a couple friendships that might last beyond BB, notably with Da'Vonne and Michelle. Game-wise she didn't do much and she went eight consecutive shows with no Diaries. She had a Murphree-esque mirror routine but she avoided #Deathrace2016 - best stunt hair to date.

Won: Outback dinner (guest)
TEAM BIG SISTER

She lasted longer than last time, but not as long as she hoped. Like Frank and Nicole, she started gaming too hard and turning on her fellow vets, when the four of them could have steamrolled the eejit noobs and gone all the way. Da'Vonne played better than some, planting little poison seedbombs against others that took root and grew, but they came back to bite her. She gave us good Diaries again, creative turns of phrase, hair flips, deadly if-looks-could-kill glares, reaction faces deluxe, and occasional belly laughs. Now and then she dropped her game face and gave us a funny, relaxed one instead, and it was always good to see.

Won: 8 days pixel suit; Outback dinner
TEAM CATEGORY 4

He made a rookie mistake by playing too hard and fast, way too early, when he should have laid low and enjoyed the safety that was handed to him. But he played for his life last time, and he was mentored by the sidekick rather than the master. His social game was the best of the bunch till he got in trouble for slapping asses and being mouthy, but he's not a bad guy overall and his exit was a fatal hit for the feeds. Pixels were his third costume, a hamster record. His friendship with Bridgette was fun to watch, with funky movie retells and baking, and every random topic under the sun.

Won: $2,500
TEAM FREAKAZOID

She came in looking and sounding so much like Vanessa it was spooky, but it didn't take long to realize her game was more Audrey-style chaos and sabotage than poker-faced strategy. Paulie's the only one who didn't get that memo but that's Paulie for you. Two weeks in a row she didn't campaign to save herself nearly as much as others campaigned for her, but when she transformed into Free Agent IDGAF Tiffany it was a joy to behold. I'm surprised #They let one of the six stuntcasts go before jury, but it just goes to show the whole thing isn't as rigged as some believe.

Won: Immunity 1st 2 evictions
TEAM UNICORN

She went in saying she'd use behavioral sciences to maneuver her way to the win but she spent most of her time with Bridgette and Natalie who were barely playing BB. Her huge confession to them about being the 'secret nerd' and aspiring mathematician was just silly, and she'll always be remembered for not knowing what 9x9 is. She didn't bring much to the table beyond her abnormally high voice and hair bows, and even the hair bows didn't stick around. She seems like a pleasant enough person but like so many others, she should have gone on a dating show instead.

Won: Nothing
TEAM BIG SISTER

One of the most delusional hamsters ever (and that's saying something), he was convinced he owned the house, he was the messiah of the newbies, the savior, the sanctuary, and the next Mario Lopez. He wore his doggie comp suit for days, but mostly he just wore underpants. His gametalks with Paul and Victor were pure comedy since they had no clue whatsoever how far out of every loop they were, and The Jozea and Paul Talk Show concluded with the two of them roaming the house looking for a camera that worked. Jozea's shtick got old fast for many, but he was feeds gold for trainwreck fans like myself.

Won: $2,500
TEAM FREAKAZOID

I didn't like having to combine an intro with an obit, but that's how the dog biscuit crumbles. He seemed like a fun guy with potential for fun feeds, especially his admission that he'd be 'willing to flirt if necessary' but he also might have gotten into heated political discussions, and BB is not the place for that. He didn't technically get Jodi'd since he got to compete twice, but gone before feeds is never good, and neither is trial by combat. Too bad the token older/regular person/fan got the first boot but young, pretty, hormonal hamsters are all the rage anymore.

Big Brother 18 FAQ
Day 1 Move-in was June 15
Day 8 CBS premiere was June 22
Day 9 Feeds began June 23
Day 99 Finale is September 21

Feeds are streamed by CBS, and Flashback remains accessible via All Access subscription. Call 888-274-5343 for account help, including cancellation.

CBS shows are Sundays 8pm, Wednesdays 8pm, eviction Thursdays 9pm (Global in Canada).

Big Brother After Dark is on POP and airs Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday midnight to 3am, Tuesday 11pm to 3am, Thursday 1am to 3am. The aired blocks are recorded earlier on the same night.

HOH's team members had immunity from nomination all week. Unlike HOH, the Roadkill winner could nominate someone from his/her team.

HOH named the renom if veto was used on one of his/her nominees. If the Roadkill nominee came off, Roadkill winner named the renom.

The CBS app (by CBS Interactive) plays BB air shows and other CBS shows, as well as feeds, or you can use your browser to watch feeds on mobile devices. The same All Access link used to subscribe will lead to the feeds viewing page if you're already signed up.

BB18 prizes are the same: $500k for the winner and $50k for 2nd place. Stipend for the others is $1,000 per week again, including pre-show hotel and jury sequester. Siblings might and veterans definitely get more.

The habitat has 87 HD cameras (up seven) and over 100 microphones.

The recorded in-house announcements are the voice of producer Don Wollman. He and Julie Chen are the only staffers who have been there since Big Brother 1.
