Day 8 - Tuesday - July 23, 2024
**The CBS schedule changes to Sundays 9pm, Wednesdays 8pm, Thursdays 8pm starting with this Thursday's show. There will still be delays and adjustments to that as we go (including tomorrow's 9pm veto show possibly delayed for politics), but most of the scheduled delays don't start until late August. I'll keep you posted as we go.
Angela remained in the spotlight. She got a bit paranoid talking with Cam, which T'kor helped calm down, and T'kor later said she was impressed how well Cam handled it. And Angela told us she "knows what's going on" regarding whether Tucker's really anti-Matt or not and other things. And she had a later, long check-in with Chelsie, saying she'd most like to see Matt be gone, along with Makensy and Lisa. Chelsie griped to us about Tucker, including that he put a booger on his pants yesterday and wore the same pants today, and about Angela rolling up on her to say don't talk about her, when the incident in question was a joke. T'kor told Kimo that Matt's confident he'll stay, and she encouraged Kimo to keep talking to people. Lisa and Cam did some morning yoga in the backyard and talked about forming a massage train later with others, and a lot of convos broke out about relationship histories and philosophies, religions, and other next-level get-to-know-you convos.
Most of the afternoon was more general topics convos and chit-chat, which was fine: they and we needed the break from solid chaos. There were also lots and lots of WBRB fishies, which was not fine. Leah made some highly-narrated sushi, which most of them enjoyed. Cameras zoomed in on Lisa when she tried it. I don't think she commented either way, but I was picturing a "needs glitter" thought bubble over her head. Angela met with Kenney to rehash, rationalize, and apologize some more. She said she didn't know what she was doing with the noms and had no guidance, and he said she'd made it clear to everyone she would decide them herself. And he said he'd wanted to team up with Angela and Brooklyn (which they'd apparently discussed), but then Angela killed that by putting him on the block. He said when he mentioned throwing the AI Arena he'd been emotional because it was his daughter's birthday, but he woke up today ready to win it and save himself. And he referenced past players who were there "just to sell their clothes line, or just to get to jury" and said they had some of those in there this season. (I'm pretty sure he's mentioned his Sweet Kenney K products a few times.)
Finally Angela's marathon apology tour and Lisa's IT'S BULLSHIT tour collided as they too did some rehashing of those original nominations. That convo didn't go too well. Neither got hostile but there were definitely some snippy tones from both. Lisa said something about being associated with Angela could hurt her integrity and/or chef business, but feeds cut away from that with a quickness. That's not the first time something potentially volatile or controversial has been cut off. They may be trying to adopt a BB Canada-esque method of scandal and rabies prevention this season. Canada was always way more cautious about everything than USA, and they finally gave up trying to gatekeep everything the hamsters said or did by killing feeds, and replacing them with a couple hours worth of curated content every day. But that only lasted two seasons, and then the show was executed.
Another Lisa pic? Yep. After I'd written the above about preventing scandals and ugliness leaking out, apparently Lisa and Angela got into it again, but it was blocked from feeds. They were down a long time, then came back in tiny bursts before going down again. We saw Angela staring at the spyscreen at one point, then she said "oh, there's Lisa, she's so high and mighty, she never makes mistakes" before feeds went off again. In another glimpse, Brooklyn told T'kor she doesn't want people to go home regretting things or feeling differently about who they are. (No comment on that one because of pre-show revelations about Brooklyn being Aaryn's friend or acquaintance.) In another glimpse, Lisa was attempting damage control in the yard, saying "it's just a lot to receive and handle," and apologizing to Quinn for him being brought into it? He was there in the kitchen again for another one. There were some references about power(s) having been mentioned, maybe because Angela's been so sure Lisa has one and said so? And Chelsie asked Angela how it started, which we weren't allowed to hear, but we came back to hear how it ended as Angela said she had fun calling Lisa Tinkerbell, and telling her "you can go now and sprinkle your fairy dust." She added she should have come up with something better.
Cam, Cedric, Chelsie (CCC) met in HOH to compare notes and discuss week-by-week plans going forward, and they were smart about it. And to wrap up this Lisa-centric episode, Tucker threw her into the pool. She asked him to, apparently for camera time? The nominee who had a meltdown after going on the block, then competed and won veto, and continued with more drama? That's a trifecta of guaranteed camera time! But I'm sure Tucker enjoyed it. A lot. And she suggested wearing a fairy costume tomorrow to spite Angela.
I feel the last few seasons either settled the votes on Mondays after the veto meeting, or they debated them all week. There wasn't a lot of vote talk today, so it's possible this group will revive the Waffle Wednesday tradition and do all that tomorrow. As of now, it seems Kenney or Matt will go, depending who stays on the block, and Kenney would probably go over Matt. But get out your waffle irons or pick up some Eggos just in case.

Day 9 - Wednesday - July 24, 2024
**The CBS schedule changes to Sundays 9pm, Wednesdays 8pm, Thursdays 8pm starting with this Thursday's show. There will still be delays and adjustments to that as we go, but most of the scheduled delays don't start until late August. I'll keep you posted as we go.
Late night had a lot of flirting and showmance-ish talk between Matt and Makensy, who've been adamant they're not a showmance - she's adamant about that anyway. He's adamant about being a good guy and good guys finish last, etc. At one point the cameras kept cutting to Matt when Cedric gave Makensy a piggyback, but he was just chatting away, unbothered, so that's good. I don't think the piggybackers got a "stop that" from BB - maybe whoever was in the control room wasn't here for the Christmas season. 'Nuff said about that. They were told the yard would be closing at 6am. It could stay closed til Saturday night, but I don't know if they were told that part. They'll learn as they go.
This morning brought some reassurances and advice. Quinn told Angela to continue to de-stress, not try to duplicate previous iconic players, and just be herself. Afterwards she said to herself "he's so right, oh my gosh" and she did pretty good. She made a lot of conversational rounds, maybe trying a bit too hard and emphasizing she'll be okay going forward here and there, but baby steps. Rubina said she wasn't sure where she fit in and felt alone in there. Lisa and Leah both peptalked her. Brooklyn and Quinn agreed Matt will go if he remains on the block against either Kenney or Kimo, and Kenney will go if final noms are him versus Matt. (Self-pat on the back for me for predicting that correctly.)
WBRB fishies blocks continued being too frequent, but not as bad or as long as yesterday. We did catch that apparently Angela called Lisa a bitch during yesterday's incident. Lisa arranged a group meditation session and set up a meditation den in the living room, saying if anyone didn't want to participate she'd "totally respect that." Most of them did show up for it, eventually, and Cam led a guided meditation that they all said was refreshing. Later Kenney said he'd never meditated in his life and wasn't about to go in there and fake it.. social game on point. Cedric and Leah planned their reveal that they are the twin twist. Matt and Kenney both did some low key campaigning here and there, but there wasn't a lot of talk or waffling among the voters. Matt's pitches had a very lot more words than Kenney's.
Tucker made self-serve tacos with various toppings for everyone, which they enjoyed. Matt told Makensy and Leah he overheard Brooklyn and Rubina talking game, but not specifics, and he said it sketched him out. Leah seemed shocked to hear it. Angela's shmoozing revved up: she told Kimo she'd absolutely love to see him and Rubina go to the end, adding that of course she'd like to be there with them if it works out that way. And she told Cam and Chelsie she's not really who she's been this week, they'll see, and she expects to go on the block next week no matter who wins it. She also ran a few of her cracked theories, including her certainty that Lisa has a power. Cam told them he has yet to notice when any of the women poop, or fart, adding "women hide it well."
Quinn told us he's been telling all of them he wants HOH but he doesn't, he knows he and Brooklyn are at the bottom of the Pentagon alliance so he's working with her, he's annoyed Cedric's in such a good position when he knows nothing about BB, and it's exhausting to keep explaining stuff to him, and he said his F2 with Joseph was "nonchalant." Lisa and Leah had an intense and lengthy whispery strategy session, agreeing they should ally with T'kor and Quinn, and maybe Cam, or maybe Tucker. A fly was crawling around on Leah for some of it, which she welcomed. They called themselves Moonshine, and wrapped up with a long, elaborate hands routine that was way too long to use if it's an alliance hand signal, especially when voting. Kimo and Quinn talked about BB Canada's cancellation, wondering if it was due to costs or killing feeds, or both. (Most hamsters don't even realize Canada had a BB.)
Lisa gathered everyone to wish her brother happy birthday, which they did. Angela was present but had a grouchy look on her face, and Tucker continued cooking during the festivities. Lisa later presented the pitch to Quinn and T'kor, saying they'd tentatively call it Moonwater rather than Moonshine. Both listened attentively but didn't act eager about the idea, but went along with it because turning down alliance invites is not good BB. Lisa told them not to believe anything that comes out of Angela's mouth about her, that she'd had it in for Lisa since Day 1 and "it's really bad, it's really tacky." Quinn retold his convo from earlier when Angela had asked him for advice, and pointed out she had been doing better and being more sociable today. And Quinn told her most everyone was planning on voting out Matt, which surprised her. I didn't figure Quinn to be our blindside ruiner, and I hope he doesn't make a habit of it. Later Lisa went around canvassing the neighborhood amid various gripes about her behind her back.
Lisa and Makensy did Tinkerbell dances loudly, and glittered the cookies Makensy made. Matt made a marathon pitch to Brooklyn, Lisa, Rubina in the unicorn room, much of it revolving around wanting to avenge his mom by booting Angela in the future. He got to the point where he was acting like she'd taken out his entire family in a bloody massacre. And he downplayed his comp chances, asking what if it's a crochet competition? (That would be new!) Lisa said everyone seems to have forgotten there are still powers floating around - actually people just aren't talking to her about them because most think she has one. They tossed around ideas of what the powers could be, and Matt said he thought one might be taking someone off the block, but he didn't know and didn't know who has it (lie). Lisa said she thought something like that would be too powerful compared to the downgrades the mascots got. Wait til they find out what Quinn's can do.
We're probably still at Matt or Kenney leaving if either's up against Kimo, and Kenney leaving if it's him against Matt. Whoever goes, the game always kicks into gear after the first eviction, when someone is actually gone and they start treating it all like life or death. Good times ahead!

Ratings are based on entertainment value
Noms count: original/renom/twist

Boo for taking away live move-in and first night feeds, but yay for not making us wait 6-7-8 days like some seasons. Boo for having complex twists that we don't even have the details for yet, but yay for the potential that those twists might prevent an early power alliance setting up a season steamroll. Boo for not having mascots in costumes, but yay for that too because it's rough for costumees in the first week. All that equals a resounding neutral, with an added WTF for having a human pretend to be an AI entity. That's so backwards. Mid-week upgrade to ups because the twists are bonkers but new and interesting, and potentially explosive, and because this cast is delivering extremely fun feeds even though most of them aren't extra-entertaining individually. And back to neutral after Sunday's Angela/Matt edits. They were very entertaining but painted Matt as an innocent victim when he'd driven most of them nuts for days, and most everyone out here was calling him Crazy Eyes. It was nice to see the spelling comp return though, and with a nice addition of letter deletion.

Won: TBA
HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0
Angela Murray - 50
Real estate agent Syracuse, UT (orig Long Beach, CA)
Ups for winning the first HOH from the precarious Older Mom casting slot positon, and for making it a sloppy, messy reign. Her Saturday breakfast show was an excellent start to the season for Fun Feeds fans, and it looks like she may come out of it relatively unscathed? We'll see. And she's a uterine cancer survivor so big ups for that! #FuckCancer

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0
Brooklyn Rivera - 34
Business administrator Dallas, TX (orig Covington, GA)
She seems to have some savvy about this game, but I don't know if that's her own or if she got some coaching from friend Aaryn. She and Angela have a moms F2 deal already, but that didn't ultimately work out so great for Helen and Elissa. She was way too perky and enthusiastic about organizing and hosting the talent show, but somebody has to bring the energy and a lot of them aren't. Late upgrade to ups for immediately saying 'no' before Lisa even finished asking if they all want to to a massage train.
|

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 1
Cam Sullivan-Brown - 25
Physical therapist Bowie, MD
I don't see a lot of him but he seems to be in a good position right now, in a solid trio with Cedric and Chelsie, and they're embedded in various bigger alliances. Late upgrade to ups for leading a very savvy strategy session with Cedric and Chelsie, and for leading Lisa's meditation session well and without causing friction with her.
|

Won: Week 1 mascot/can't compete or vote
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0
Cedric Hodges - 21
Former Marine Boise, ID (orig Running Springs, CA)
He's struggling some with feeling emotional and feeling bad about that, but maybe that's his Marine background acting up. Others have been encouraging and supporting him when he feels down and that's good. It's tough to start off in this with no chance of power or even a vote, but it worked out well for both him and Chelsie, and they ended up having a free pass week.
|

Won: Week 1 mascot/can't compete or vote
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0
Chelsie Baham - 27
Nonprofit director Rancho Cucamonga, CA
See Cedric re mascot status. I think she's done more to help herself down the road than Cedric, setting herself up well socially this week when she was in no danger.
|

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0
Joseph Rodriguez - 30
Video store clerk Tampa, FL
He seemed like he was in a prime position at first but then he slipped a bit. But overall I think he knows what he's doing in there and he should go far.
|

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 0
Kenney Kelley - 52
Former undercover cop Boston, MA
His game and people reads are ridiculously bad, and he talks like he knows everything about BB when he clearly doesn't. He might end up providing a lot of unintentional humor if he sticks, but it doesn't seem like he'll stick for long.
|

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 1
Kimo Apaka - 35
Mattress sales rep Hilo, HI
He seems like one of the nicest and most genuine people in there, and it's tough to land on the block immediately for no real reason so it's fair and understandable he's been a bit gloomy here and there. But when asked what his ideal scenario for next week would be, he said 'I don't know, I guess someone who'd protect me?' So it seems he'll be a passive player and will go wherever the flow takes him, which is often deep into the jury phase.
|

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0
Leah Peters - 26
VIP cocktail server Miami, FL (orig Pittsburgh, PA)
She likes to talk, a lot, often about herself, and often with the most random and funny topics. That might get old soon but for now she's bringing the stories and amusement that few others are. And she's our designated 'old tweets' hamster for that fun side game that's become a tradition in recent seasons.
|

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 1/0/0 - HN 0
Lisa Weintraub - 33
Celebrity chef Los Angeles, CA
She was shocked to be the first nominee and made no secret about it, which is a fair reaction, but she ran so many loops and held so many meetings about it, it felt like a bit of entitlement was in place. Then she won the veto so all that was for nothing, but kudos to her for that: it's rare for a woman to win the first one. Midweek upgrade to ups for making another marathon stink after the veto meeting, despite having secured her own safety. Downgrade back to neutral for becoming generally insufferable: it's way too early for that.
|

Won: America's Veto for Weeks 1-4
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0
Makensy Manbeck - 22
Construction project manager Houston, TX
She does nothing for me, but I have a feeling she's going to stick around a long, long time. Props for winning the veto power but wow she shouldn't have told Matt about it. That's going to put her in a very tricky position in a few days when he lands on the block.
|

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/1 - HN 0
Matt Hardeman - 25
Tech sales rep Roswell, GA (orig Loganvilla, GA)
I'm torn here. His first couple days holding court in the pantry and being manic made for great screenshots and gifs, but then he did a 180 and cried because a 50-year-old woman yelled at him, and he reeled himself way in. He's potentially good entertainment in an unintentional way so I'd be okay if he sticks around another week or two, but not much longer.
|

Won: Deep Fake HOH for Weeks 1-4
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 1
Quinn Martin - 25
Nurse recruiter Omaha, NE (orig Lawton, OK)
I think he may be driving the game but he does it very quietly and very subtly so it's hard to be sure. He's probably in the best position at the moment and he seems to know everything that's going on, and there's a lot going on.
|

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0
Rubina Bernabe - 35
Event bartender Los Angeles, CA
I don't see a whole lot of her either - feeds have concentrated a lot on Angela, Matt, Makensy - but her talent show performance 'my talent is something rare, I will be shutting the fuck up' was the best part of the show and easily earns her ups.
|

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0
T'kor Clottey - 23
Crochet business owner Atlanta, GA (orig Chicago, IL/London, UK)
She's repeatedly said she's slow to open up to people but she's getting there, and I like what we're seeing. She's smart, game savvy, and fun, and she's gradually setting herself up to be in a good spot going forward.
|

Won: TBA
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 1
Tucker Des Lauriers - 30
Marketing and sales exec Brooklyn, NY (orig Boston, MA)
Easy ups for spewing the most random and often wrong factoids, for being recklessly loud and open about disliking Lisa and Matt, and for being generally weird and unpredictable. He's repeatedly said he doesn't want to join any alliances, and he's only teamed up solidly with Joseph, and less solidly with Angela. We'll see how that works out for him. If/when he ends up as HOH I think we'll be in for a very wild ride. Bonus props for being a great veto host, especially as he's said he's severely dyslexic and had trouble reading some of the cards. Whether via redos or not, he did a fantastic job.
|

Won: Control of the game
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/0 - HN 0
Ainsley/AInsley - 24
Surf shop worker San Diego, CA
She lost two votes to join as #17 so reverted to her robotic persona aka Artificial Intelligence Network Self-Learning Entity, and became a comp host.
