Day 61 - Sunday - September 5, 2021

Overnight was busy, again. Xavier and Derek ranted for a long time about Tiffany, and getting her out next as seventh place, before Cookout makes it to six. (I don't think they'd do that, I suspect it's mostly Xavier planting anti-Tiffany seeds with Derek for when they get to six, but we'll see.) Tiffany joined them and they over-complicated what to tell Claire for why she'll be going up as renom tomorrow. There were also various discussions about making Alyssa's vote 3-2 rather than 4-1, but Xavier caught wind of that and did not like it. And Kyland was Tiffany's sleepover guest, and they cuddled up together all night with maybe a bit of something else. Morning brought scurrying and retells all over town, with a lot of tension building up, mostly due to Tiffany wanting to give Claire a version of the Cookout truth (but labeling it as individual deals she'd made) and Xavier not wanting anything disclosed (so Alyssa wouldn't realize he'd betrayed her).

Scrambling, whispering, meetings carried on at a frantic pace. Tiffany told Xavier she was trying to remember the elaborate story they concocted last night so she can be convincing when she tells Claire, and she said she's terrible at lying. Azah pitched a plan to Xavier of making a fake F5 with Alyssa, who got annoyed after they stayed up all night concocting the elaborate plan, and he said nobody knows Alyssa like he does and she'll be mad to learn about Cookout, and he said "y'all figure out what you want to do this week and I'll be on board" - ha! Xavier then ranted to Derek about Azah wanting to come clean, and saying that's what everyone wants. Xavier said he "views it" as that being what Azah and Tiffany want (but Azah specifically said she didn't know what everyone wants, but that's what she and Tiffany want). Xavier then paced and told himself/us "if they want to do that then vote me out now, and I'll deal with all that shit in jury." Followup check-ins included Tiffany/Hannah, Xavier/Kyland, Tiffany/Hannah/Kyland, and Xavier/Azah again, where he apologized for not letting her speak earlier. Both Alyssa and Claire were oblivious to all the chaos surrounding them, or at least both acted like they were oblivious to it.

Comings and goings finally left Tiffany and Claire alone in HOH - go 3.28pm for the Flashback. Tiffany began by saying her target was Alyssa and she didn't have any deals with Xavier, and "my personal preference was I don't want to be the person to send out Azah, Chaddha, X, Kyland, Big D, I don't want to sit them next to each other" and "I have to put you up." Claire said "they're just gonna vote me out, Big D, Alyssa, Ky are gonna vote me out." Tiffany teared up and said "I love you to death" and "I never wanted to be the one to send you home." Claire asked if Tiffany was in an alliance with them and Tiffany said "no.. I have my own personal feelings about how I wanted to play this game." Claire then broke down in hard sobs.

Azah peeked in, saw them hugging and sobbing, and quietly left. Claire told Tiffany she has to do what she has to do, and "it's okay," and eventually they laughed a bit. Claire said she'll be sad but she'll be okay, and she will recover. She said "they may all be laughing, oh Tiffany's gonna send out her best ally, but you have to stick to your guts, you have to stick to what you said, and I respect that." (Remember Claire suspected Cookout weeks ago, I'm sure she knows, without needing the actual words, especially since Tiffany gave her the roster.) Tiffay stressed to Claire that the friendship is real and will endure, and Claire said she won't hold this against her. And Claire confessed she lives in Manhattan and not Queens.

Tiffany told Kyland that she'd told Claire she'll be the renom, and later Claire also told him. He acted surprised, and asked "what's her rationale, her plan, her deal?" Claire said she thought "it's somewhat personal" and said Tiffany didn't want to put "you or Chaddha or Big D or Azah" next to Xavier, adding that she understood that, and that she thought it's something Tiffany told herself before the game. Kyland asked "like Da'Vonne?" and Claire said yes. Kyland later told Hannah that Claire knew, and he told Xavier, and Tiffany also told Hannah, who also acted surprised. Hannah, Xavier, Alyssa did Hot Takes with Hannah and Hannah's zings for everyone were better than what the real zings sounded like. The selfie camera came out and they did their fake interviews for that.

Evening was relatively quiet: dinner, chit-chat, some gametalk for next and future weeks plus plans for post-season get-togethers, and Claire rebounded and chatted with Tiffany. Last year they were given pizza, booze, and music for a Labor Day party and they didn't get booze tonight like many Sundays, so that seems like a strong possibility for tomorrow evening. (That was the night of Bayleigh and Da'Vonne versus Christmas and that glare of hers - I doubt anything like that will happen this year.)

Day 60 - Saturday - September 4, 2021

Azah, Derek, Hannah were picked to play veto with Tiffany, Alyssa, Xavier. A little later, Alyssa came in crying to Azah and Derek that she's the only slopper playing, and she hates slop, and everything was awful. A little later still, Xavier had a lengthy rant at Azah that this week's target was supposed to be Claire, Kyland and Tiffany HOHs were selfish, he's the only one who's had to sacrifice, and Cookouts were all "I don't want my person to go". At one point Azah burst out laughing, saying his facial expressions were funny. Many of us burst out laughing because he's the one who doesn't want his person to go. Then Xavier ranted to/with Derek for awhile, but he finally said "let's see how the veto goes and then we go from there" - which is all he can do at this point anyway.

Feeds went down at 1.45pm and came back two and a half hours later. They'd had their zings, and they did a variation of the tiny veto comp that Da'Vonne won last year. It was hard to tell at first who won since nobody was wearing the necklace and they were comparing their performances, but Alyssa had a tiny veto bracelet, as she had won. Tiffany said her hands were shaking trying to work the tweezers, and Kyland said it had been a nailbiter to watch. Xavier told Azah and Derek he was working on a plan (possibly to get Alyssa to use it on him), and Alyssa told Xavier the only people who could go up in her place would be Azah, Derek, Kyland, and maybe they could get Azah and Derek to appeal to Tiffany to put up Kyland. (Clearly Alyssa's still blissfully unaware of Cookout, as Claire's the only option if Tiffany stays loyal to the six.) Hannah and Tiffany also talked about getting Alyssa to use it on Xavier, otherwise Tiffany would have to tell Claire the truth. Xavier and Derek were griping up a storm about Tiffany and talking like she'd already put them up against each other, but Hannah joined and told her Tiffany was trying to decide what and how to tell Claire.

Angry psst-pssting continued all over town, not to mention a lot of over-complicating. Finally Xavier met with Tiffany, and she confirmed she'd told Claire she'd like either Alyssa or Xavier to go. She got out her strategy chess pieces and laid out every combo of renom, and said she'll tell Claire that Xavier would stay against anyone except her/Claire. He said he's sorry Tiffany was in this position, and she said she'd put herself in the position, but she's loyal to Cookout. She asked that she not go on the block against Alyssa next week since she has to send out her own partner/pawn, and he said "we'll take that into consideration."

Zings were Azah's crush on Xavier, Xavier's crush on Whitney(?) plus he's arrogant, Hannah's irrelevant and bor-zing, Tiffany's old, Claire's Bigfoot, Derek's "leaving a mark.. in the toilet," Kyland's was "shut the fuck up," Alyssa's from the Sunshine State but in there she's kind of dim, and she asked what that meant.

Azah was embarrassed by her zing, and Xavier swore to her he'd never said in Diary that he wouldn't date her (maybe that was included in the zing), and she kept her distance afterwards even though he was trying to get back in her good graces. But she still had a cuddle session with him later (resulting in a new tragic movie poster). They talked game of course, including Azah saying Tiffany had to hit the block at some point because she had comp wins but Azah only had no nominations on her resumé. Hannah had told Tiffany she'd try to make Alyssa think it's her idea to renom Claire, and then they'd try to make a fake F4 with Tiffany/Hannah/Alyssa/Xavier. So Hannah talked to Alyssa in the hammock to work around to that. Alyssa believed Kyland was the house target and would be the renom but Hannah threw a thousand scenarios at her, including the two of them partnering up as both would be singles (if Xavier goes, which he won't), against a house of duos. And Alyssa told Hannah about the Monarchy, which was her and Xavier plus SarahB and Kyland.

Ratings - I Have Questions edition

Ratings to follow eventually, based on entertainment value

Noms count: original/renom

1) I assumed they didn't get the middle and tiny size tables last year due to COVID protocols, and the fact that it took three staffers to take apart the giant table, on BB18 at least. Yet here we are a year later with COVID still acting up, and they moved the middle size table in. Great! That's a milestone and a season tradition. But why did they get last year's middle size table?

2) So often things have slipped out on feeds that shouldn't, and I always wondered why they didn't have a 7-second delay on feeds, like live TV does. I'm wondering if they put something like that in place this year since not nearly as many problematic or incriminating things, or staffer sightings and the like, have slipped out to feeds as usual. Granted, this cast is overall WAY less problematic than usual, but there's also a very lot of no-fishies WBRB breaks for no apparent reason. Maybe there are reasons but we just aren't seeing or hearing it, whether it's something the hamsters say or staff talking to them or whatever. For instance, the other night there was no indication of either Hannah's bad hammock dump or the oven fire before feeds went down for those events.

3) September 16 show was always going to be two hours but did they have a triple planned for that night, and then changed that to two doubles September 9 and 16? Most everyone wanted to see Cookout celebrate getting to F6, and to then start turning on each other, and going from 7 to 4 in the quick chaos of a triple would have robbed us of that. It's not all that easy to switch those things up considering the number of comps and crews required, but I'm glad they did.

4) Regardless if they changed that or not, what are they going to do for the second hour on September 16? And why did they add not one but two Friday shows September 17 and 24? Both were relatively recent adds to the schedule. For that matter, what are they going to do on all those shows? We're going to Final Four on September 16, and there are five shows between then and finale. Figure two for fourth place cycle and eviction (or three if they really stretch it out), and one for season review, that still leaves two (or one) shows to be filled with something. Wouldn't it be nice if they went back to evicting third place before finale, letting them deliberate with the jury (as jurors are supposed to do), and letting us have the delicious finalists' fallout on feeds after jury questioning?

3rd juror - 8th evicted - Day 58

This year's 'quirky girl,' she was one of many with a job/life lie, adjusting her drug testing/testifying to administrative assistant, but it ticked off some when she began griping about quitting her job to be there, because they'd all put their lives on hold. She won a paint splatter/memory Wildcard and a balance beam HOH, and she thought she was a badass villain by backdooring DerekX, but she was just doing Kyland's bidding. Tiffany gunned for her for weeks and that gave us moments like 'mistakenly' calling SB a sloth during a group animal game, and her 'fuck Sarah Beth and I said that shit' #FSBAISTS was an instant classic. SarahB spent much of her time laying around, usually entwined with Kyland.

Won: BB$200; 24 hr Lord of Latrine

HOH 1 - Veto 2 - Noms 0/1 - HN 2
TEAM ACES

2nd juror - 7th evicted - Day 51

He'd only seen two seasons and he didn't do much homework to know he'd signed up for a dirty game, but he was a quick study and saved himself with veto after being the probable first out. Then he won the following veto as well as an HOH, and he was a legitimate 'comp beast' threat. He was maneuvered into backdooring the other comp threat, Christian, on that HOH, and then SarahB was maneuvered into doing the same to him two weeks later. Again, homework might have helped. But he was well liked by most everyone in there and out here, he was a superb Lord of the Latrine and cockroach dancer, and he laughed a lot, something that's often missing on feeds.

Won: BB$100; Week 1 safety

HOH 0 - Veto 1 - Noms 3/1 - HN 1
TEAM JOKERS

1st juror - 6th evicted - Day 44

She went on the block four times, and she ranted, cried, and was a pretty bad sport about it. She only played the game around noms and voting times, so she didn't understand she kept going OTB because she didn't bother to find out what was going on, or to create allies beyond her Jokers team/roomies. The fact she was up against Cookout didn't help her any, but she could have done a lot more than she did, and she blamed her exit on a broken deal that was never struck. She rapped for Julie, and won a hard-fought veto, and broke in on Alyssa/Christian sexytime in HOH. She seemed to be playing a character much of the time, and she contributed a lot to their many skits and songs.

Won: Week 1 Wildcard + safety; Week 3 safety

HOH 1 - Veto 2 - Noms 0/1 - HN 2
TEAM KINGS Captain

5th evicted - Day 37

It was tricky to tell him apart from Travis at first, which wasn't helped by Christian changing his hair once or twice a day, and he often sounded like Victor Arroyo when he spoke. But that passed and soon it was easy to tell Christian was the loud one who was super-glued to Alyssa most of the time. He was sometimes fun and seems like a good guy, but he made no secret of his physical abilities, including doing six backflip/burpie combos in a row one day, just because he could. Those abilities were largely what got him the boot, since he also proved he could put them into action, even when he didn't need to.

Won: Nothing

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1
TEAM ACES Captain

4th evicted - Day 30

Apparently she spent a few hours on Twitter and she selected one of my tweets to complain about being villainized, slut shamed, and hated. My tweet was factual, with a touch of snark, but none of that stuff. Maybe she forgot what she signed up for, and I'm sure she's having a tough re-entry, but after having hate for her flung into my mentions every day (as all updaters get, for each of them) to then get called out publicly for what I didn't do, I'll just go with Mariah's 'I don't know her.'

Won: Nothing

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 1
TEAM ACES

3rd evicted - Day 23

At cast reveal I thought international flight attendant would mean great people skills, but no. He came in boasting of charm but it didn't last long. His talk about girls and dating, and his behavior towards several women in there, were problematic and bound to get worse if he'd stayed. He was happy to be Frenchie's lieutenant for the chaotic first week but then Brent turned on him and practically denied ever being with him. He had zero self-awareness about all this and the edits skewered him as they did Frenchie, proving once again if you do clownery, you'll get the clown music.

Won: Nothing

HOH 1 - Veto 0 - Noms 1/0 - HN 0
TEAM JOKERS Captain

2nd evicted - Day 16

Cast reveal brought controversy plus a major Cody/Derrick mixup, and the feeds opened to him announcing he wouldn't put up a woman or minority, but then he put up Alyssa and Kyland, and it was downhill from there. He did everything a feedster should know not to do: shouting in Diary, talking in cliches, Bomb Squadding, pandering, power-tripping, mistaking BB history items, grandstanding, begging for a viewer save, and threatening to quit. Still, all that gave us a wild ride and super-chaotic first week of feeds that we'd never be able to piece together if we hadn't seen it unfold.

Won: Nothing

HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/1 - HN 0
TEAM QUEENS

1st evicted - Day 9

I barely know who he was. He dressed in drag (and looked okay doing so), he gave Kyland a birthday lap dance, took his shirt off for his nominee speech, and complained to Julie that white guys with abs are targets. And he didn't do much to prevent his eviction. That's all I got. Aloha.
