Day 51 - Friday 8/7

Sloppy buns

Continuing with their voluntary rotation plan, James, Jackie, and Meg moved into the dental office for the week.. their supplement was revealed to be "sloppy joes" - slop on hamburger buns, so effectively hamburger buns

The day was pretty calm leading up to nominations, with a few retells of yesterday's fights as well as Becky's pre-nom talks.. Shelli told Vanessa she was sure she'll be going up, and Vanessa said it'd be one of them, with the other being the backdoor target.. Steve had a solo sit-down chat with us in the pantry, saying he thought Becky's true target is Austin, and that he wanted to "fuckin kill Vanessa" for telling Shelli about Freaks & Geeks.. Becky entertained the dental patients with her patented impersonations of teary Shelli after Vanessa practically convinced her Clay had been playing her, as well as Vanessa's huge but phony revelations act, clutching her green hat all the way

Becky nominated Shelli and Steve, as planned.. Vanessa of course isn't clueless about being the actual target, starting up her loops immediately when Julia said she looked worried, replying "it's just terrible"

In an overnight update and nice catch by @UGotBronx, there was a quick Diary leak of James saying "what, America's Player card?" and a staff voice saying "congratulations" before audio was killed - Flashback 8/7 3.35am.. maybe James was joking, but his time of receiving info cards in there was over by then.. if it is an AP thingy, maybe it was a result of the Final Two poll.. that poll now has two slots on the Goofs Tally below, since Julia was omitted and they didn't reveal results on August 6 at all

The rest of the afternoon and evening remained very quiet, with lots of napping, eating, cleaning, and chit chat.. most of them played celebrity 20 questions for awhile.. Jackie was relieved of her knight suit a day early and did the requisite strip/shun show, shedding her cape, helmet, armor, greaves, and shimmery catsuit.. James made a tinfoil voodoo doll plus noose and left it in Austin and Liz's bed - Liz found it and immediately knew whose handiwork it was.. other than telling Austin she'd "made a boo boo" and mentioned Freaks & Geeks to Shelli, Vanessa laid very low, but that surely won't last much longer

Shelli and Johnny compared notes about The Plan, and discovered Vanessa had asked each for meetings later, saying she's "got information" - I wouldn't want to be in Shelli's shoes if/when Vanessa confronts her about all this.. Johnny had a lengthy talk with Steve, telling him about the Vanessa backdoor plan, that Vanessa's been driving the game, and that the two of them plus Shelli are alone (and they'd pull in Becky if they all survive double eviction).. Johnny dropped a lot of info and it was a hard pill for Steve to swallow because Johnny asked Steve to pick him to play for veto, but Johnny wouldn't use it on him if he wins - Flashback 8/8 1.39am.. afterwards Steve talked to himself/us again, wondering if he should tell Johnny about Freaks & Geeks and/or about SOS.. I suspect Steve thought he could go all the way with Vanessa à la BB3 Danielle and Jason, but that was a very long time ago and much has changed

Day 50 - Thursday 8/6

All the popcorn

They were still running waffle loops about who to evict when the habitat imploded, thanks to Vanessa.. Austin, twins, Steve, Johnny, and even Meg had pretty much finalized on voting out Clay, but Vanessa may not have gotten the memo.. she began by confronting James, opening with "do you have something against me personally?" and they were off - Flashback 8/6 2.20pm

Vanessa gave a roundabout he said/she said about Johnny saying he was going to target her and Shelli, but James isn't playing poker and he called her bluff, insisting on bringing Johnny in to clarify.. the three of them ended up with Clay, where Johnny said he came up with that idea himself, and it got nasty when James told Clay to keep his name out of his mouth, and Clay told him to shut up.. James also wanted to know who's been saying he's been bullying people for votes.. Shelli, Julia, Liz, Becky were eavesdropping from the dental office, and it was solid gold feeds

Vanessa kept haranguing here and crying there, including attempting to inform Clay and Shelli "what's going on here is.." but Clay cut that off with "get out of here!" Johnny informed Steve that he is indeed gunning for Vanessa, saying how she's "in too many things".. Vanessa finally wrapped it up before feeds were cut for their live show rehearsal and primpwork with her loops about Johnny and Clay being related, finally asking them directly if they are indeed related "or gay lovers" - say what?

All of this was almost surely "planned" by Vanessa to ensure Shelli stays, but she went far beyond yesterday's Redirect and Minimize plan to the point of making it indirect and maximized.. I doubt she did herself any favors, but a lot of these hamsters continue to do her bidding like sheep - luckily for us, they aren't all bah-bah'ing for her

But that's not all - we have another endurance comp tonight! They drew numbers 1 through 10, and it sounded like they were told to wear casual comp clothes rather than dressy, but not athletic comp clothes either.. GET YOUR FEEDS! It honestly doesn't get much better than this season, and we're only halfway through.. as always on a Thursday, I'll update Power Status to your left as things happen, and my Twitter of course, and catch up the rest of the page later

Slip 'n slide

Clay was evicted 9-0, and Julie made a few announcements: she told the remaining 11 they are now in jury, but that being evicted to jury house might not be the end of their game (read: Revive-a-Hamster in our future).. she told us next week is a double eviction, adding another notch to the theory I posted here a couple days ago

Then they were sent out to their comp, which was the feedster favorite where they have to skate in soap and/or Crisco or something similar, on an incline.. this time they carried liquid to their jugs in a drippy funnel, and they each had three balls they could fish out.. anyone getting the HOH ball would end the competition, but they also each had a $5,000 ball and a Never Not slop pass ball they could opt for

Becky had a strong lead throughout the comp, and fished out and won the $5,000, the slop pass, and the winning HOH ball at about 1 hour 40 minutes

Shelli had a shorter than expected cry on Meg's shoulder over losing Clay, before heading off to work on her hair.. Vanessa accidentally sprayed the disinfectant they use for the hair clippers on her hair, reminiscent of Aaryn sipping nail polish remover.. the downstairs shower drain clogged (yet another season milestone) - James pulled out a ton of hair from it.. most of them were tired and sore, and they had a welcome pizza delivery

Vanessa cozied up to Becky a bit, and retold a ridiculous "poor me" version of this afternoon's festivities to Jackie and Meg.. she also told Shelli about Freaks & Geeks alliance, and she told Steve that she had, saying she'd done it "by accident" - this was on top of Johnny giving Steve yet more intel about Vanessa's doings

Finally came the hollering and ooh'ing and aah'ing: Becky's letter was from her bestie and roomie Lindsey.. she got a kitty mug, healthier snacks than most, and wine.. she reaffirmed her plan with Meg, James, Jackie to put up Shelli and Steve, with Vanessa as backdoor target, but they'd tell everyone Johnny's the target.. the Have-nots feasted with gusto, and then came the meetings

Becky stuck with the plan for some, but she told Johnny the truth, and told Steve he'll be going up as a pawn but he wasn't her target.. the twins offered a safe future deal they didn't have to, before they heard the (fake) Johnny plan.. Becky was vague with Vanessa obviously, and abrupt, refusing to entertain any talk of deals, and then she told Shelli what the real plan is.. Vanessa already seemed to know something's up, and we know secrets don't stay secrets for long in there.. Friday should be yet another fun feeds day

LINES OF THE DAY

Friday
Steve: We're not here to spend time hanging out in the jury house
James: We're not here to accommodate people's personal needs

Johnny to Steve, about Vanessa: She does these crying fights and they go home, and she did it to me - I'm next.. she's keeping the three sides at war, and she's good with each one of them

Johnny to Steve: I want the blood on my hands [to get Vanessa out], I want that as a bragging point that I did it

Steve to self: Mom, I really need you right now

Thursday
Meg: Honestly I've been trying to stay out of the whole vote situation
Shelli: I know it's an eye for an eye, y'all felt betrayed, I respect that, but I think the amount that it's played back has been a little bit harsh

James: There's a lot of weird talk going on, I just want to make sure I'm not getting blindsided

Vanessa to James:
Do you have something against me personally?
I've stayed the fuck out of it, I'm close to both of them

James: Clay, I advise you to keep my name out of your mouth
Clay: Shut up

Meg to Jackie: James and Clay almost had a fist fight, Vanessa's sobbing in there now, Clay's been caught in like four lies, Johnny Mac's involved somehow

Julie to Clay:
Is this the Real Deal between the two of you?
Do you love her?
Have you ever given up like this in a game before?

Becky: I've worked Black Friday, I know how to deal with Vanessa

Becky: Fuck the house, this is Becky's decision

VTE = Voted to evict

I've got Shelli's 2400 battles sign here because I'm still smarting over the finish of that being withheld from the feeds, and I wanted to commemorate it on the site since it was a big deal as far as season events, however silly. After 20 or so hours of watching her do her assigned rounds, there was no reason at all for them to block the end from us. The fact that she did the task with no hissy fits and virtually no complaints, 48 hours after going to the end on the wall comp, was unexpected and impressive, and it was nice to see something positive from Shelli after her stock had virtually dropped to zero, much like Brittany's had before she completed her 2400 goals last year. They've been really good about not blocking feeds excessively this year, so to block the last ten battles with the rest of habitat cheering her on was doubly disappointing.

EVICTED 9-0
He started badly, calling himself a 'superfan' after being recruited at a basketball game and marathoning a few seasons. He said BB is about making new friends and memories, and he had a problem with lies and backstabs except when he was doing it. He spent most of his time stapled to Shelli and they got a lot of mother/son jokes, but I saw them more as creepy Lannisters, especially when she went on about how like her brother he is. He provided loads of unintentional comedy, weird mouth things and mumbling translations, he peed in HOH shower, and he got out just in time.

Won: 1 week Wackstreet
Another superfan who found out it's easier to play BB from home, he fell into Vanessa's disastrous Renom Roulette wheel and went out earlier than many hoped. He got mouthy about many of them and popped some good funnies, but he laid around most of the time until it was too late. He gave us some of the best reaction faces of all time, especially the night they played squicky truth or dare - he even had a dedicated cam for much of it. He mentioned this site often, usually saying it's 'hard to navigate' so he'll probably never see this.

Won: Nothing
She was erratic and unpredictable, and the random ways she kept them stirred up made for some of the best feeds in ages. And as a bonus, she featured in all the fights, many because the others didn't believe her telling truths. They did buy most of the fibs, and without 'empirical evidence,' but they fell for her wacky gameplay more than twice. She marooned herself in a bed and a dental chair, with some laughs in between, and she got the 2nd ever penalty vote. I enjoyed watching her, and will miss her.

Won: Nothing
I haven't given many empty wheels before their time, and I don't think any of those got them as early as he did. But we've never had such a misogynistic, inappropriate, and unfunny pig before. CBS let him get away clean and that's what it is - I'm just glad to see the back of him.

Won: Power to nullify 3 votes
She wasn't afraid to confront people nor to keep fighting to stay, which was good for us, but didn't help her much. She figured out the twins early but didn't leverage that to her advantage soon or well enough. Her 'game on' fight with Audrey and pantry rant to us were memorable, especially her catch-phrase 'get your life!' She was smart, funny, and volatile. She didn't let us take full advantage of #DaVonneHasADaughter, a hashtag that was too good to be true.

Won: Nothing
He was like a parody of all the former surf boys we've had, with all the worst qualities of asshat hamsters past rolled into one. He verbally beat up on Steve a few times but the primetime version earned him viewer loathing, even if his actoring was lousy. He ranted, streaked, flipped us off, and mostly talked about himself, but he promised to save us all someday through music.

They erroneously said last year that BB16 would have 'the most houseguests ever' but this year they really did, with 17 total after the twins split into separate entities. Now my symmetry for this section is out of whack and I don't know what to put here.

Big Brother 17 FAQ
June 18 was Day 1 move-in. June 24 was CBS premiere, Day 7. Finale will be September 23, Day 98

Feeds are streamed by CBS, and accessible via All Access subscription. Call 888-274-5343 for account help, including cancellation.

CBS shows are Sundays 8pm, Wednesdays 8pm, eviction Thursdays 9pm (Global in Canada).

Big Brother After Dark is on POP (formerly TVGN). It airs Monday, Tuesday 11pm-2am; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday midnight-2am; Thursday 1am-3am. The aired blocks are recorded earlier on the same night.

The CBS app (by CBS Interactive) will play BB air shows and other CBS shows, but not feeds. Use your browser to watch feeds on mobile devices. The same All Access link used to subscribe will lead to the feeds viewing page if you're already signed up.

Liz and Julia had to survive five evictions in order to play separately as individuals, which they did, with Julia officially entering the game on Day 43. They switched places every few days. They had a limited time in Diary to change clothes, adjust their appearance, and exchange info. The non-playing twin was sequestered in a 'house,' possibly the jury house.

BB17 prizes are the same: $500k for the winner and $50k for 2nd place. Stipend for the others is $1,000 per week again, including pre-show hotel and jury sequester. Recruits or those with established pre-season fan bases might get more.

The habitat has 80 HD cameras (up four) and over 100 microphones.

The recorded in-house announcements are the voice of producer Don Wollman.
