Day 52 - Thursday - September 5, 2024
Last night they had a series of at least 40 quick and detailed videos spread over several hours. Pooch and Lisa were featured in two of them, and others had references to Fessy and his Hamazon Swine, Kenney's sauce or sausage, Young Cedric, Nether Gorgon, and the old nomination key wheel. It sounded like most had random extras/actors and some videos repeated, with variations. At first they all studied together, like dopes, but eventually they started to scatter into smaller groups, and a few even went off on their own to try to memorize everything. T'kor set up a little Q-tip study area.
There was a lot of pre-show waffling about the vote today, as has become usual this season, and they often don't settle it until just before the show. Actually not even then: we haven't had a unanimous vote yet. Angela paused for a little solo cry in the pantry on her way to the ironing board, either upset about losing any of the three nominees, or maybe second-guessing her promise to Leah to vote how she wants. Leah was leaning towards keeping Joseph this morning, if he stays on the block, and Angela would probably prefer him gone (along with the current majority). Julie posted another AI Arena preview: it's the one where they have to use their bodies to untangle a rope to get it to reach to the target.
Julie opened the show with a reference to Ainsley's curse, explaining all six evictees to date had voted no to her being their 17th roomie on move-in night. Recap segments included Joseph's conscience striking him down, resulting in him making amends to Angela, Joseph and Quinn simping for Leah, and the awkward and weird Chelsie/Cam/Makensy triangle and head petting. Then Julie lined up her gladiator roster for the AI Arena, and they were off.

The Arena comp was called Bandwidth Boosters, and Rubina won. She got huge hugs and congrats as the three made their way back inside and Julie gave them their weekly "time to strategize" reminder. Both Joseph and Kimo were emotional in the nominee chairs and in their speeches, with Joseph a bit more controlled. Joseph was evicted 4-3, with Cam, Leah, Angela the votes to evict Kimo. And with that, Ainsley's revenge curse was broken since Joseph voted yes to her joining them. Quinn's face fell like Frankie's hearing the BB16 AFP vote when Julie announced the results.
Joseph went out in relatively good spirits, though he seemed a bit stunned. Julie trolled him a bit, reminding him he'd said he was playing like Dr Will and throwing comps, but Joseph said "it's Big Brother" and wished the rest of them a good game. I think he'll get everything cleared up for him in his QAs and/or when he gets home, and I think he'll be okay. Julie told us, with Joseph still present, that the remainders had made the jury phase, and that next week's episodes will be as usual. Ainsley then told the rest of them in the house that they'd made jury (meaning an additional six weeks of guaranteed $tipend pay), and that AI Arena was over and they'll go back to two nominees per usual. The credits rolled over Quinn crying into Rubina's neck and coming up for air with his glasses fogged over. I'm surprised but pleased to have called another vote, especially since my attention to game and vote talks dropped exponentially this week.
Feeds came back for a few before going down again for their HOH comp. Chelsie and Makensy said Kimo's impassioned speech had changed their minds (though I don't think Chelsie ever truly deviated from planning to evict Joseph). T'kor told us "the best case scenario happened" which isn't surprising, since she's the leader of a very solid, surviving trio. It's mind-boggling the rest of them let that happen, with a jury of seven, but here we are.
Chelsie won the HOH comp, which was about the 40 detail videos they saw last night. She won on a four-way tiebreaker against Cam, Kimo, Makensy that was a time estimate "without going over." Makensy was closest but went over. Chelsie said she tried to throw it by going low at 47 minutes for something she thought probably ran at least an hour. (I have to wonder about that: if she wanted to throw it you'd think she would have guessed high.)
Preliminary one-on-ones started with Cam. Chelsie told him she was thinking Angela, Kimo noms but she figured Quinn, Leah were the likeliest to target her. Cam said Leah would probably be the easiest renom if needed, and they ran a few loops that were complicated by their (her) personal issues, in my opinion. She said she thought Cam would keep Leah over her eventually, and he responded "you are drunk!" Cam said he still hopes the two of them plus T'kor are the final three. Chelsie told Kimo he deserves to be in jury and she was glad she voted in his favor. Angela told Chelsie she doesn't want to go up as a pawn again, and others haven't hit the block at all but she hoped Chelsie will protect Leah. (That would only leave T'kor.) And Angela said she doesn't want to go to jury because she wants her grandchildren to be able to keep seeing her on TV three times a week. Chelsie told Makensy, Rubina, Quinn separately they're all safe, saying she'll put up Angela, and she told Quinn it'll be Kimo as well. Quinn shmoozed hard by saying the alum Chelsie reminds him of is Danielle Reyes. Chelsie told Leah she'd heard Leah planned to keep Cam over her when they were on the block together, and that sent Leah down a winding tangent of loops and retells and under-bus-throwing. Chelsie finally told Leah her Angela/Kimo plan (with no mention of renom).
Kimo told Angela he was nervous about going up and Angela said "there's no way" (oops) adding Chelsie "just voted to keep you" (oops again: that's not the same as voting out Joseph). Leah ate some Campbell's soup cold out of the can. Chelsie got her room around midnight, with pics of her siblings, clothes and cosmetics, loads of food and snacks, and her music is Justin Timberlake. I missed her booze for the tally below but will hope to catch that at some point. She read her letter from sister Kennedy, and everyone went back downstairs for s'mores. Recall supplies for those were delivered at the end of Labor Day, and they decided to wait until Kimo and Makensy finished their Have-not week. Nothing was said about HNs this week, so we'll assume there aren't any (and hopefully that nonsense is done for the season). T'kor and Chelsie went back to HOH, and Chelsie told her she wants to protect her, Rubina, and Kimo. And she said she was considering Angela, and repeated what Angela said about people who hadn't been on the block while asking to protect Leah, leaving T'kor. Chelsie said she was thinking Angela and Kimo, adding Kimo has a good chance to win veto and if he wins it, she'd break a tie to send Angela to jury. T'kor said "that's solid." Chelsie asked T'kor to reassure Kimo he's not her target at all, and she said she'd put up Leah if Kimo comes off the block, or Quinn.

Day 53 - Friday - September 6, 2024
Chelsie told everyone last night her noms would be Angela and Kimo (and T'kor told Kimo), but a few rerun meetings were held this morning. Quinn continued his streak of spilling every secret by telling Kimo and T'kor separately that Joseph was a "superfan." He complained to Kimo about having been left out of some game info like Five Pointz, and Kimo apologized, saying he wasn't the best at communication in there(!) Quinn told T'kor that Joseph's watched even more BB than him, saying he (Quinn) started "in the BB community" for BB23, but Joseph started for BB15, adding "back then the community aspect was way less polished." What does that even mean? And is it true the self-described uber superfan Quinn only found the show three years ago? He does know a lot of prior seasons' characters and the like, but if he binged the entire franchise in such a relatively short time rather than with an overall perspective of the times each happened, it could explain a lot. Also, it came out last night that T'kor knows BB23 Joseph.
Expert floater that she is, Leah parked herself in HOH this morning to chat, talk Bible class with Chelsie and Makensy, and do her makeup. At one point they watched Angela pacing around the dining room table on the spyscreen, and sitting in her angry chair, and they said "she wants to be watched." Angela muttered to herself at one point that she was "clearing rooms" again, likely (correctly) suspecting she was about to hit the block yet again because people were avoiding her. A bit later most were in the kitchen and Angela asked if Chelsie was holding one-on-ones? She got talk-blocked by committee as one after another chimed in to say Chelsie was chilling in her room, she had a migraine, she was having some alone time, and the clincher, "all of them are really good about boundaries." Ouch. Cam said he wanted to do some activity, maybe make some clothes, but they don't have scissors or bleach. If he sticks around, they'll probably get tie-dye kits in a few more weeks.
Angela finally arranged to meet with Chelsie, who said she doesn't want Angela to go home but she has "very slim pickings." Angela said "no you don't," adding if Chelsie's not aligned with anyone as she says, she has a lot of options. Chelsie said Angela's name was thrown out by most of them, and Angela rehashed back to Week 1, she stood up to a man, and Quinn, and been on the block every week, etc. Chelsie said she wasn't putting up Angela because it was the easiest way out for her (despite Chelsie telling everyone that last night), and Angela reminded her they had an agreement not to put each other up. They went back and forth, Angela putting up a good fight and Chelsie returning a good shmooze, and eventually Angela said "go ahead, put me up, I will win the veto." Angela had an even bigger/tearier reaction hearing she'd be up with Kimo, but Chelsie told her she had an even bigger target in mind for renom. Chelsie then met with Kimo to tell him the bad news he'd already heard from T'kor, and he basically said okay. Cam and Makensy struck a deal that she'll cut his hair and he'll do her makeup on Thursday. She asked for a makeup test run before then, and he agreed. Angela sat in her angry chair for a bit before joining Kimo to add another tragic movie poster to that ever-growing series. And Chelsie ranted to the HOH cameras about Angela.
Adoptable anipals glitched when feeds went down for noms, and were replaced by a Technical Difficulties screen I don't recall ever seeing before, with pre-season music. Feeds tried to come back an hour or so later but only lasted a second or two before glitching out again. But all was calm in that peek so I went ahead and updated the noms as Angela and Kimo here, since they seemed more than firmly locked in. It's extremely hot in SoCal today with a lot of power outages, and while the habitat facilities have backup power, the feeds signal goes through a lot of switching stops before it gets to us. Today's problem could be weather-related, or not.
Feeds finally returned around 7pm and everyone was in HOH. It turned out their a/c went out along with the kitchen appliances, so it probably was weather-related due to the oppressive heat this week. I'd guess the backup generators prioritize TV-producing equipment over comfort for a handful of people in a part-time fake house, but that's just a guess. The a/c came back and they got food delivery from Fatburgers which everyone enjoyed together. There was no verbal confirmation of the noms but there was nothing to indicate any changes from the plan they'd all been notified about, so we'll assume Angela hit the block for her fifth time and Kimo for his third. (It was later confirmed they were indeed on the block.) After eating, they settled in the living room to play word games.
Leah gave a lengthy how-to-live-life talk to a group, and Rubina later griped to T'kor about Leah's talk marathons, and not being able to get a word in. Chelsie picked up a non-mic and gave us a chisme session, saying some people were a little too comfortable and the Petty LaBelle in her would like to shake them up. She griped about Angela and their pre-noms meeting, and she griped about Cam and Makensy's PDAs, and said she had no idea who she'd put up if a renom is needed. She said she misses Brooklyn, as well as Tucker as a man and his energy, but not in the game. That led to a preaching session, with Bible, and advice to couples about feelings of jealousy. (That would have been a good time to flash to side-eye cat, but feedmasters missed the opportunity.) Quinn and Leah had a gametalk with Leah saying she didn't feel safe in the game as only Quinn would protect her, and Quinn said if Cam or Makensy win the next HOH they should try to get them to turn against Chelsie. They were joined by Makensy and did some days studying. Cam, Kimo, Rubina, T'kor did face masks.

7th evicted - Day 52
He brought a lot of unintentional comedy as he deluded himself about his power and influence, and he proclaimed himself 'star of the show' in one solo talk to himself/us. To his credit, his intentional comedy was every bit as good, although his dry sense of humor wasn't appreciated by some. He had a BB birthday that helped him settle in better socially, and he became the eighth hamster to get 24 hours in solitary. Three of those won their seasons but not this time. Joseph had extra chatty, holographic mini-Matt for company, and he said later he used his toilet tent for extracurricular purposes. He apologized to Angela after being brutally honest about her game, and he acknowledged he had some self-work to do about his 'mean streak.' I'll miss him, and wish him nothing but the best. Props to his siblings and friends for running the best hamster-adjacent socials we've ever seen.

6th evicted - Day 45
He demolished two AI Arenas and was the first pre-juror to win three vetos in a row(!), along with an HOH. All that plus his boasting made him most everyone's target but he seemed to relish that spot (along with puzzles and biscuits). He was a welcome change from the usual 'comp beast' type, often showing compassion and empathy, and shedding tears over missing his min pin Ziggi. He fell in love with Rubina, and was often loud, sometimes obnoxious, frequently funny, and he usually owned whatever room he was in, including Diary. His gameplay was reckless and unpredictable, nearly always leaving chaos in his wake. He was that extremely rare breed of hamster: a hard gamer, often a good one (sometimes horrible), while being entertaining. He will be missed.

5th evicted - Day 38
She brought us a number of classic shockfaces for various blindsides, and she said 'this doesn't quite feel like Big Brother' when she was on the block and on her way out. I beg to differ. She confessed her sports dancer secret to Quinn (who told several), her Mrs America secret to Chelsie (who didn't), but I don't think she told anyone she's friends with Aaryn. Thanks to Cam, she provided a fun Michael Jackson side game out here for her last couple weeks. She never tired of saying she wanted a married mother to win this season, so I guess we can assume she'll be rooting from home for Angela.

Former Marine Boise, ID (orig Running Springs, CA)
4th evicted - Day 31
He prepped by watching analysis clips and didn't see any full seasons so he had an unusual balance of BB lore and knowledge. He was a good sport about being sidelined Week 1 and he used that time well, becoming well-liked by all of them. 'Young Cedric' was an ongoing, evolving skit and his own elaborate life stories usually had them and us in stitches. Between expecting volunteers for the block and painting himself into a no-win corner between his various alliances, his HOH was a disaster. Then he volunteered to be a pawn the following week and learned the meaning of 'pawns go home.' He was funny, genuine, wise and mature beyond his years, and he'll be missed.

3rd evicted - Day 24
He adopted Matt and lost him fast, then he won a veto, and the rest of the time he said he wanted to quit. He rallied a bit at the end when he teamed up with Cedric and Tucker, adding Cam when he walked in on them, but that got blown up immediately. He mostly sat by himself and shouted out his family, or he complained to others about missing them, so they sent him back to them.

Celebrity chef Los Angeles, CA
2nd evicted - Day 17
She's a legit chef/caterer and ran that into the ground, along with sprinkling edible glitter on everyone's food whether they wanted it or not. Tucker's rants about her were an early highlight, and she crumbled after Angela mocked her walk and called her a twit. Props for winning the first veto (rare for a woman), but she wasn't cut out for this setting. Most of that was simply being a bad roommate: she made (and wasted) food they didn't want, dabbed non-consensual essential oil on her roomies' pillows, propped filthy feet on food surfaces, and she never tired of telling everyone what a special and unique person she was.

1st evicted - Day 10
He filled the pretty boy/brojock casting slot perfectly but didn't like Angela pointing that out openly and immediately. He was adamant about not being 'that guy' and to his credit, he did talk a lot against toxic masculinity. He cried after Angela yelled at him, but went out in high spirits with ginormous smiles for Julie.

THE REAL SHOW IS THE FEEDS

BB1 thru BB25 plus Celebs and OTT, and loads of other shows and movies, plus originals

GAME TWISTS
-First and second move-in groups of eight voted against letting Ainsley join as 17th player, and each group played comps based on their votes.
-Losers Cedric, Chelsie were Week 1 mascots: couldn't compete for HOH or veto, couldn't vote, could be nominated.
-Makensy won America's Veto: once in first four weeks, she can remove someone from the block and viewers will instant-vote the replacement. She used it Week 3 after she went up as veto renom.
-Quinn won Deep Fake HOH: once in first four weeks, the HOH's AI avatar will announce noms Quinn secretly picked, and he can spread misinfo and rumors via that fake avatar. He used it Week 4 to take over Angela's 2nd HOH (everyone knew about it).
-Weeks 1 thru 7: HOH picked three nominees, and veto renom if applicable. The three competed live in AI Arena before the vote, and the winner came off the block.
-Week 6: Viewer vote to pick someone for AI Instigator (Tucker), who could spread rumors via others' AI avatars. A second vote determined how much cash he won ($20k).
