Daily Feeds Recaps
Day 1 - Wednesday - August 2, 2023
Julie ran the intro packages and brought them to the stage in two groups of eight. She then played the Britney/Danielle/Frankie "oh no we broke it" video for them and for the viewers at home, and she explained the BB Multiverse had four sections: Comicverse, Humiliverse, Scaryverse, Scrambleverse, and that each had a comp setup in the backyard.
She then sent them in, in assigned groups of four, and told them to pick a comp station so that one from each group was at each station. Self-described superfan America was the first to enter, so you have to question that superfan tag once again. Actual superfans know the first in has never won a North American civilian BB (US, Canada or Telemundo). The backyard was covered with parody newspapers with fake BB news and parodies. The best was a headline that read "BB Houseguests Nashville and Halloween marry!" as a spoof on Memphis and Christmas, picking up the fan game of calling her any holiday name except December 25.

Julie told them this first comp was for nominations: the loser of each would go on the block. Scrambleverse comp was Puzzling Headlines, where they had to disassemble a fake headline puzzle and reassemble it in a box: America won and Jared lost. Mecole tripped running for her buzzer (in heels) and pushed it from her knees. Let's hope she's not on crutches/scooter/cane for the next 7 or 8 weeks. Humiliverse comp was Kicking Butt, where they had to pull a ride-type lever to kick themselves in the rear 100 times. Matt won that, and Kirsten was last.

Comicverse comp was GooPocalypse, where they had to properly connect four wires, and get a color explosion if correct. Jag finished first and Felicia was last. Finally the Scaryverse comp was Hold On Fright, where a monster hand from the promo graphics pulled them toward the "Nether Region" and they just had little hand grips to hang on to. Cory was pulled off first so was the fourth nominee, and he disappeared into Nether Region without further explanation, until Sunday's show (but we'll probably find out on feeds later tonight).
Julie told them the biggest surprise was yet to come and we saw "someone" in the kitchen going into the commercial break. When they went inside they found the much-rumored Survivor legend Cirie Fields there to greet them with the traditional move-in champagne. Julie said she is there to play the game as the 17th houseguest. And she told us there will be an HOH on Sunday's show, and that the veto (Wednesday's show) can save one nominee.
Feeds started just a few minutes after they were scheduled, with most of the hamsters herding together and talking a lot, and loudly. A lot of it was get-to-know-you talk, and that included Blue talking about her tattoos. A lot. Cory was back from the Nether Region but wasn't allowed to tell them what that was about. They hadn't done anything about HOH yet and they didn't know what/when/how that would work. Red explained his "chillbilly hat" has a piece of an 1800s barn in it. Izzy knew Jared was Cirie's son but it didn't seem to be open knowledge, and I didn't hear anyone mention Cory having Survivor ties - not out loud, anyway.
Jag taught Reilly to juggle, which she played along with - recall she did a bit of juggling in her intro video. Matt talked about being hearing-impaired and said he can hear some with hearing aids. He has a Deaflympics shoulder tattoo that he'll keep covered since it's a trademarked image. An early named alliance came along already: Jared, Kirsten, Luke, Matt, Reilly are Phalanx Five. (Pardon my eyeroll.) Kirsten apparently has a pork allergy and ate a ham sandwich, but she seemed okay. Izzy told Kirsten she thought Cameron had "a serial killer look" and she later told Jared he had "serial killer vibes." Cory fanboyed to Cirie and asked her about Survivor things, and Jared joined to ask his mom about Survivor things that he surely already knew. Hisam mentioned he was surprised that people were already gaming, but he'd already been gaming himself. Cory griped to Luke about that, saying it was "too soon."
Cory, Hisam, Jared, Luke were Have-nots and moved into the Humiliverse room, where they have to spin a dial to determine the number of ass kicks to give themselves before leaving the room. Cory and Luke volunteered for Have-not, I'm not sure about the others. A lot of tentative bonds seemed to have formed including Cirie/Felicia/Kirsten/Mecole with Cirie/Felicia as a duo within that foursome. Kirsten and Mecole discussed bringing in Jared to that group. Other bonds forming included Izzy/Kirsten, Izzy/Jared, Izzy/Hisam, and Kirsten/Jared. And probably others as well. You know by now I just skim the surface on opening night. (And many other nights as well.) Izzy, Kirsten, and Reilly all seemed to have pretty solid getaround games, and Cory tried but several including Cirie told others they didn't trust him. Jared and Cirie had a pre-bedtime check-in and compared notes, and Jared told her Izzy had figured out he's Cirie's son.
It's only the first day of a hundred, so rest up Hamsterwatchers - we have only just started the new marathon.
IF YOU MISSED what came before, check my previous episode, always linked up top or from my season index, and get the feeds to catch anything you missed with Flashback! Day 2 - Thursday - August 3, 2023
Morning brought breakfast chit-chat and more get-to-know-you convos. Bowie Jane said she'd gotten US citizenship (dual with Australian) relatively recently, so that seems to answer the question of whether US citizenship is still a requirement, and means a USA vs Canada vets season is still unlikely. Unless Canada does it. Hisam and Cirie had a nice chat, though a lot of it was pretty sad as they exchanged COVID work stories (he's a doctor, she's a nurse). Most feedsters are watching Cirie closely and that's a good practice to get into. She's getting around, forming social foundations, and learning what these folks are all about game-wise, without letting on at all that that's her agenda.
Be aware as we go this will be a confusing season because Cirie and Jared, and maybe a couple others, will probably be having a lot of fake alliances and legit-but-temporary side alliances, and that's on top of the usual alliance stew we usually have, especially at the beginning. Visual aids will be coming along from @Dolffica and @89razorskate20 to help us keep everything sorted out - be patient. Also see BB23/TAR Claire Rehfuss's tweet in Lines of the Day below and keep it in mind as we go: Cirie and Jared will always have first loyalty to each other.
Feeds went to adoptable anipals at 11.27am, presumably for their HOH comp or whatever they're doing to determine who gets the big room this week. They came back around 2pm and Reilly had won the first HOH. It sounded like there were multiple comps again, including a puzzle, a hang-glide, and a balance beam. Apparently she'll remove two nominees, and will name a replacement if veto is used. Some of them thought that renom would have to be one of the two she takes off the block, but I don't know if that's confirmed or not. Cirie, Jared, Izzy compared notes - it's open among them now that Izzy knows Cirie/Jared are mother/son. In soapy news, Kirsten implied to Hisam that Reilly had stolen Matt's attention away from her.

Hisam sat down at the LED chessboard to teach Mecole how to play. She seemed to catch on to the various piece movement descriptions faster than most, so she may have already known how to play and was playing it up. Jag and Reilly had a check-in with Jag congratulating her on winning a mostly blood-free HOH, and Felicia pitched Kristen as a don't-save to Reilly because she's been too busy, too soon. Reilly said she agreed, and thanked Felicia for saying so. Reilly got her room at 4.13pm and they all trooped up to see the giant haul of goodies. She didn't get pics or a letter because it's too early and they just left home, but she was excited about peanut butter, canned tuna, and blueberry soup ingredients. Her music was Morgan Wallen, who made headlines a couple years ago, and not the good kind.
Feeds went to adoptable anipals again from 4.37pm to 6.24pm but it wasn't anything major. They'd been put in HOH lockdown and I think the already-broken stove got fixed. Izzy and Jared kicked off separate chaos rounds, each of them making new deals and alliances right and left. Izzy's meetings included Hisam (they agreed to work together) and with Bowie Jane (they agreed to work together, hopefully with Cirie and Felicia). Jared's meetings included Reilly, and the high point of the day for me was when he told her conspiratorially that he had something he'd share with her to prove she could trust him. He was so serious I thought he was about to confess being Cirie's son but no, he said Kirsten had tried to form a group of five "on Day 1" (just last night). Reilly replied "I was in the room with you." Indeed she was and she was one of the five! You could not make it up.
Jared also told Hisam he'd asked Cirie and Felicia if he could call them Momma C and Momma F, so that could help cover if he slips up with Cirie. He wore a bandana for many of his meetings, which didn't help disguise his resemblance to Cirie but if anyone noticed, they didn't mention it. Jared had a length meeting with Reilly, with Blue joining later, and they figured they'd be a good group of six with Cameron, Cory, Hisam. Reilly suggested a group of eight several times so they could have the numbers to steamroll the game. Kirsten's name came up a lot from a lot of people as being too chaotic and busy to keep around, so she might be one of the remaining noms after Reilly pulls off two. Cory's name also came up a lot but per above, Reilly (and Jared) seemed to think he'd be good to keep. So that would leave Felicia, but she and/or Cirie might be able to finesse their way out of that happening. Cirie and Felicia made dinner and they all ate together (Have-nots joined them at the table).
Jag told Reilly they should get together to decide what they want as far as the noms before getting a lot of input from everyone. She'd already gotten a lot of input from many but no matter. She said she'd like to sit with him at the end and he agreed, they shook hands and hugged on it, and claimed themselves ride or die. They didn't discuss it (yet) but as of now, she'll probably pull Jared and Felicia off the block, leaving Cory and Kirsten to fight for veto, with Kirsten the current target for the dreaded first boot position. Cirie checked in with Felicia, with Mecole present, and she explained how female alliances haven't done well historically in BB. They agreed they'd need to get all eight women on board, which would include Reilly of course, and Izzy who's already got alliances all over town, but we'll see how things turn out. Charades broke out around 10.20pm with most of them playing, and that was followed by sardines, and then Simon Says with some of them playing. Reilly announced spa day for tomorrow, waxing strips and nails.
Cory finally had his meeting with Reilly, who said she's tight with and wants to work with Jag (she's told many), and she told Cory he's not her target, and she eventually told him that Kirsten is. He was visibly relieved and they hugged, and he said he thinks of her as his person in there, so far. She responded "aww" - maybe not the response he hoped for. He threw out Cirie's name but later said he's good with her, she said "integrity" a few times, and he told her he's Survivor Zach's brother. When she asked if Rob Has a Podcast is Boston Rob's, Cory said yes. Err, no. Reilly eventually told him her target is Kirsten. Cory pushed for Jared to stay on the block rather than himself, and he tried to get Reilly to commit to an alliance with him. She was diplomatic about that but didn't commit, at least not before I shut them off for the night.
NEW! I'm sending out my daily recaps to my Patreon supporters each night (as long as I don't forget) so they'll be there with the morning emails. And one-time donations of any amount can be made anytime at Ko-fi. Huge thanks to all my donors - I literally could not do this without you! And as always, super big ups and thanks to my Hamsterwatch readers and followers ♥

Ratings - Late Arrivals edition
My ratings will usually be based on entertainment value, but for now, I'll stick to facts and stats - everyone gets free neutrals until they earn ups or downs
Noms count: original/renom/twist

We're starting a month later than usual due to the television writers strike, and the need to fill the fall TV schedule, so we'll run later than usual too: all the way to November 9. That will be Day 100, making this the longest BB USA season ever. We've had a few 99 day seasons in the past, and they were brutal. But finales are usually on Wednesdays and in a few weeks primetime Wednesdays will be filled by Survivor and Amazing Race at 90 minutes each, so we're going that one extra day this time. Let's hope we can make it.
I enjoyed the 25th anniversary special more than I expected to, and it was good to see them throw some things in that aren't always included on the air shows, like a Team Ants segment. It's about time they acknowledged the true champions of the franchise. It was a little jarring to see someone else step through the doors onto the stage, but Nischelle Turner did a great job hosting the special. And unlike Julie, whose patter contributed three pre-season goofs to the tally, all the stats in Nischelle's script were accurate.
I'd kind of expected to step away from BB by now, but here I still am. Most sites like this have gone the way of the dinosaurs, replaced by podcasts and illegal-but-unregulated feeds clips on every social media site. Feeds affiliates aren't allowed to post videos - nobody is, but we have consequences - and combined with many people keeping Paramount Plus year-round, my feeds signups are not great these days. So I'm more grateful than ever to those of you who support me and this site with donations via Ko-fi or Patreon. I may offer some exclusive content to my Patreon donors (maybe sending each day's write-up by email?), so stay tuned for info on that.

America Lopez - 27
Fan applicant
Medical receptionist Brooklyn NY (orig Edinburg, TX)
Says she's watched all 25 seasons, and claims to be a superfan. She plans to lay low, let them underestimate her, and 'play the kitchen strategy' plus the flirting strategy. And she plans to lie about having an Ivy League degree. She could be one to watch.

Brand strategist New York, NY (orig Riverside, CA)
She could be an alternate, her QAs weren't in Diary Room like the others. She plans to job-lie about being a professional strategist, and hopes to play a social game. I'm curious to see her on feeds as her pre-show stuff feels a bit Instagrammy. Hopefully she'll do well. Great hair.

Bowie Jane Ball - 45
Fan applicant
Barrister/DJ Los Angeles, CA (orig Melbourne, Australia)
Apparently she was a barrister (courtroom litigator) while DJing, but is now doing the DJ thing full time? Not sure. She won't tell them about the lawyer part, and also says she'll age-lie and say she's 34. Says she's a 'huge fan' and especially loved BB Australia, but she knows this is a whole different game. She wants to be in both big alliances and small ones.

Cameron Hardin - 34
Fan applicant - Separated, 1 daughter
Stay-at-home dad Eastman, GA
He claims 'superfan' and has applied several times and gotten callbacks for some of those. He hopes to not win too many comps, and plans to build relationships. And he says he has 'a knack for learning people' - all promising traits for BB. He'll let them know he knows some things but won't confess his level of superfandom - my word, not his, if it even is a word.

Cirie Fields - 53
Fan applicant? - Married, 3 sons
Stats to follow
A legendary four-time Survivor player, she was rumored as showing up and when she finally did at the end of the premiere, many exploded with delight. How things will work with son Jared also there remains to be seen. I don't watch Survivor but have heard tales, and I can tell she's a ruthless player when she showed up in the BB kitchen wearing the same outfit she wore to a Traitors post-finale event: she won that show.

Won: Trip to Nether Region
HOH 0 - Veto 0 - Noms 0/0/1 - HN 1
Cory Wurtenberger - 21
Fan applicant
College student Weston, FL
Brother of Survivor Zach Wurtenberger. CBS says Weston but his video says Fort Lauderdale. He's young and a little cocky, so here's hoping he can back that up. He too claims to be a superfan, and said he'll try to win the first HOH, and otherwise will act helpless as far as life-functions like laundry so he won't seem threatening.

Felicia Cannon - 63
Fan applicant - Married, 1 son
Real estate agent Kennesaw, GA (orig Tacoma, WA)
She's the oldest female to play, and the 2nd oldest ever, behind BB10 Jerry. She said she may age-lie and say she's a little younger than she is, and said she won't tell them she's twice-retired (with two pensions.) She knows the importance of building relationships and trust. She seems like a breath of fresh air and someone who will say what's on her mind, and she said she doesn't like clutter or messes, but is expecting them. As she should.

Geriatric physician Seattle, WA (orig Minneapolis, MN)
Sounds like he's a psychiatrist (which is also a physician, so that's technically not a goof). That takes some smarts obviously, and it's always good to have someone in there with medical training for the inevitable injuries. He plans to find a ride-or-die and each of them will form side alliances to play off against each other. Great strategy but could be tricky to put into practice.

Fan applicant - Has a girlfriend
Professional flutist New York, NY
She's new to BB but says she's a 'huge fan', having watched all seasons since January. Let's hope she did good and thorough homework like Taylor did. She says she'll have no life secrets or lies, and plans to start out by observing and lying low. I want to like her - our first classical musician I think? And she's also a visual artist. Yay for creativity! BTW for those asking, both her IG and dot-com use she/her pronouns.

Fan applicant
Truck company owner Omak, WA
He's proud to be the first Sikh Punjabi on the show (the US show anyway - Hira Deol was on Canada's short-lived Season 8). He says he's a huge fan, and knows social game and comp wins when needed are both big factors. He said he'll act a little airheaded and won't tell them he's got a trucking company as well as being a realtor. He plans to tell them he's a substitute teacher and coach, which is true. Busy guy! He might do very well.

Exterminator Norwalk, CT
Son of Survivor Cirie Fields, but he doesn't plan to tell them that. (Cory may recognize him and vice versa, if they do alum or charity events etc - we'll see.) He says he's a big fan but not quite at superfan level, and that he'll try to 'minimize his presence.' He seems fun and engaging, and I think he'll be good feeds, except I'm very concerned for Team Ants: we've never had a professional exterminator in the cast.

Kirsten Elwin - 25
Recruit - Single
Molecular biologist Houston, TX (orig Orlando FL/Dominica)
She immigrated here with her family when she was little and wants to bring it home for them. Canada's had a lot of 1st and 2nd gen hamsters but I think it's kind of rare for the USA franchise. They often have a unique perspective and appreciation of various things so that's something to watch for. She doesn't seem like a huge BB fan but knows the basics. She won't tell them about her brainy science job but will tell them she's a swimsuit designer.

Fan applicant?
Illustrator Weston, FL
Like Cory, CBS says Weston but Luke's QA says Coral Springs. So we started with two from Weston and end up with zero? Confusing. His big planned lie is he won't tell them he's a Sagittarius. Okay. He's raising a lot of Braden/Jace/Girton red flags but he seems personable and could turn out to be the one to break the problematic surfer mold.

Matt Klotz - 27
Fan applicant - Single
Deaflympics gold medalist Baton Rouge, LA (orig Cameron Park, CA)
See Luke: Matt calls himself a 'surfer bro'. I don't know if Deaflympics medalist is a career, but maybe he's a goodwill ambassador for them or similar. He says he's a 'pretty decent fan, watched a couple seasons' but knows he wants to win the first HOH because everyone goes to them to start alliances. He won't tell them he can read lips so that could be very fun for us. I don't know his degree of deafness but he said he's concerned about comps where you have to 'listen a lot.' I'm sure they'll make adjustments to ensure a fair playing field as far as reading them comp rules etc, and hopefully they won't do things like audio trivia to memorize.

Political consultant Upper Marlboro, MD (orig St Louis, MO)
She said she plans to play 'like a politician: gonna shake your hand, kiss your baby, smile in your face, and when you least expect it I'm gonna stab you in the back and take all your money.' Possibly the best answer for this question ever! We'll see if she can pull it off.

Sales Gatlinburg, TN
He calls himself a 'chillbilly' and he seems to enjoy playing up the part. I'm expecting a lot of Jasminesque Diary sayings but mostly I'm curious if he'll be a character or a caricature. He said he's watched all the seasons but also said he used to watch the early ones and then just recently came back to BB. And he said he may not admit to being in sales (moonshine maybe?) because salesmen have a reputation of being conniving.

Bartender Nashville, TN
CBS says Nashville but video said Maine. I don't know. She said she's a 'huge fan' but also said she'll 'bring a certain flavor that's not so commonly seen on here.' Actually she seems very much like several former blond hamsters but hopefully there's more to her than what we've seen. She did say she plans to 'break into her situational awareness' when she gets in the house, and that's a damn solid phrase.
