Day 70 - Wednesday 8/26

Rock, paper, scissors

Waffling continued as far as whether to evict Steve or John, and talk of making the two of them do rock, paper, scissors on the live show to determine who goes gained a bit more ground - really

As usual on a lockdown day, there was a lot of napping, a lot of eating, a lot of exercising, and not a whole lot else.. Vanessa continued her inquisition rounds about the plan to evict her last week, and she continued to plant anti-Steve seeds doing that.. I suspect she'll want to keep him for her own purposes, but she won't want anyone choosing him over her later on

They ate dinner together again and they cancelled Wednesday night bowling to play Sling Ball again.. they ended the night pretty much set on evicting Johnny (by votes rather than rock, paper, scissors), but there's no guarantee they'll stick with that.. it does seem pretty solid though - solid enough that Vanessa, twins, and Austin told Steve, and Vanessa told Johnny, despite agreeing with all five of the others to wait until tomorrow to warn him

Celebrity Big Brother

Meanwhile there's a new show beginning Thursday as the UK's Celebrity Big Brother kicks off a new season with a UK versus USA theme.. the cast won't be official until the lovely Emma Willis introduces the celebs and semi-famous, but rumors include Tila Tequila, Jenna Jameson, Janice Dickinson, Farrah Abraham, Dina Lohan, Hulk Hogan, as well as the usual crop of British soap, reality, and scandal stars.. Kathy Griffin and Howard Stern were mentioned a lot early on, but I think those rumors have cooled off

BB UK hasn't had feeds for a few years but they run a highlights show and talk show daily, with an extra thirty or sixty minute "live from the house" segment periodically.. outside the UK, you can watch live with Hide My Ass which is a safe, secure, and very easy to set up VPN: just select a UK server, and click "connect"

The premiere is Thursday at 9pm UK time (1pm Pacific/4pm Eastern) on UK Channel 5 website.. they usually do good edits with loads of twists, shenanigans, drama, hissyfits, and comedy

On a personal note

I said good-bye to this little darling today.. she was elderly and had health problems so it wasn't unexpected, but it's never easy.. she was found as a kitten in a plastic bag in a dumpster and was given the name Kismet as a result of her good fortune being found and rescued, and given a series of good homes

We were her fourth home after I inherited her from my dad, where she was his best buddy for his last few years.. you can see she was a clown and a character.. maybe this isn't the appropriate place to commemorate her, but we catladies stick together.. she was a very good little cat, and she'll be missed.. huge thanks and much appreciation to those who have left a note on my Twitter =^..^=

Day 69 - Tuesday 8/25

Another lawsuit

Meg continued to ice her candy pelting injury, and it looked like the bruise might not develop into a black eye but it "left a mark" just the same.. they sat down to discuss a pre-trial settlement, which pelts make welts etc.. they may hold another trial later

The camera came out and they did their posing and duckfacing, and Liz got angry at Austin.. Austin wrote his blog - I have a feeling it'll be more like his nominations speech and less about what's actually going on, but we'll see

Austin and Liz had a little spat and she went to nap downstairs, but he followed her.. they did their flirty slurpy bickering/make out/make up thing and when they left, Johnny surfaced from undercovers in the same room and did a mock pukey motion and noise, echoing many feedsters

They didn't have a trial but they did have family dinner, and they were told there would be no more chocolate pelting.. they played Sling Band, a variation of Pot Ball where they fling comp headbands onto plates.. naturally gametalk carried on here and there, including Johnny and Vanessa again, and he later took his pitch to the twins

Austin, Meg, James figured they should all just do rock-paper-scissors on Thursday rather than voting, or have Johnny and Steve do it to determine who leaves.. I'd love that since live shows definitely need something "unexpected" but it probably won't happen.. as of now, I think Johnny will be the one to go but he's also got a very good chance of coming right back in, depending on what the revival comp is.. also, it's only Tuesday night so don't quote me on that - they're still waffling like mad

It's a tough group to keep up with, even at this late date, so let me try to boil it down to basics: Liz and Julia trust each other, obviously; Liz pretty much trusts Austin and vice versa; Meg and James trust each other; Steve and Johnny don't really trust anyone and no one trusts either of them; Vanessa doesn't trust anyone but thinks most of them trust her.. again, that's as basic as it gets but I think it's fairly accurate, and forms the basis for most of the yapping they do

Day 68 - Monday 8/24

Lions Tigers and gazelles

It was a busy morning for a Monday, set off by Johnny telling Steve he'd talk to Vanessa once more about using her veto.. instead, he told her about last Monday night's agreement between Austin, twins, Johnny, Steve to boot Vanessa - Flashback 8/24 10.23am.. Vanessa took that to Steve and accused him of orchestrating that five-person deal, cussing him out and calling him "motherfucker" - Flashback 8/24 10.51am

Steve then asked Austin if he (Steve) had orchestrated that arrangement, in front of Vanessa, James, and Meg.. Austin replied he didn't know why Steve was "coming at him" in public.. James' face through all that was hilarious, eyes bouncing back and forth like he was watching a tennis match, with a smirk on his face popping up for a second.. later James told Meg how well that had all worked out for them.. by the way, it was all five of them who had agreed to boot Vanessa this week - Flashback 8/18 1.44am (Austin joins a bit later)

Vanessa did not use her veto, and rants carried on after their meeting, notably Vanessa ranting about Steve and twins ranting about Johnny.. in Johnny's save-me speech, he asked Vanessa not to use her veto on him, saying it'd be like asking a lion tiger and a gazelle to hang out and not eat each other, and apparently Vanessa gave Steve a verbal beatdown with her veto speech.. (note they all said lion in their retells but on the 8/26 veto show, it turned out be tiger)

They played Pot Ball and pelted chocolate afterwards, until Meg got one in the face that looked like it might become a black eye.. Johnny approached Vanessa and said if he stays, he'll have to work with her and she'll be his number one, adding they've "done each other dirty a lot," "you're the devil I know," and he'll do whatever dirty work's needed

Later Steve asked to speak with Vanessa, and she started off angry since they disagreed about whether the anti-Vanessa alliance of five was this week or last.. she gave him another verbal beatdown and said she was giving him "life lessons," and Steve took it like he did Jace's, and he apologized to her, which seemed to wind her up more.. emotional blackmail continued when she called over the twins and Austin and said "I just wanted Steve to know, the three of us are voting together, right?" To his credit, Austin piped up at one point and said they were all pretty much in the anti-Vanessa stuff together - up til then, Steve had been taking all the heat for it

LINES OF THE DAY

Wednesday
James: Why don't they just use our good-bye messages from last time?

Johnny: Fruity Pebbles, it's a party in a bowl

Johnny: If it's what they want, I don't see why they'd keep me.. Steve's a lot closer to them than I am
James: ....

Tuesday
Vanessa to Austin/Liz: This is me showing you how much I'm fucking with you guys

Johnny to Vanessa, about twins: What's your read on them, poker player?

Liz: Austin, you want to get into our third fight for the day?
Everyone: Ohhhhhhh!!

Monday
Johnny to Vanessa: I was looking for an alliance at the time, and I was after you

Vanessa: Johnny said there was a five-person alliance - you, Johnny, the twins, and Austin - to get rid of me, true or false?
Steve: That was something that was discussed, true
Vanessa: Whose idea was it? Who orchestrated it?
Steve: Not me
Vanessa: It was you, motherfucker.. they told me it was you, all of them confirmed it was you, wasn't it? It was? You can say good-bye, you ain't got my vote
Vanessa: Was it you? Was it you?
Steve: No
Vanessa: At least have the balls to admit it

Meg: Vanessa, when are we not gonna see that face on you?

Steve: Did I orchestrate that, Austin?
Austin: Kinda.. I don't know why you're coming at me in public

Steve: Why is Vanessa mad at me over John?
Austin: I understand how she starts thinking, she thinks - not that you orchestrated it, you came up to her and were over the top playing phony with her

Steve to us: Selling out your best friend is never fun, but when I walked in, I said 'leave your integrity at the front door' and I meant it

Won: $10,000; Never Not pass; Outback dinner (guest)
She came in with that incredible train/tram story and a good attitude about it, and she called herself 'Basic Becky' which fit well when she talked about recipes, dogs, and her daily tasks and procedures at work. But she proved to be a comp beast and she lived up to her billing as Black Friday Boss when she openly targeted Vanessa. Unfortunately for her, everyone turned tail on that plan and Becky was demoted to the after-Christmas returns desk. She should have gone on a dating show but she gave us some fun with Becky Updates - even Olive Garden got in on that. She can laugh at herself and those ones are always appreciated.

Won: 1 week 6 days knight; 24 hours polishing by Vanessa
She came in as a stuntcast cross-promo opp with Jeff and she was easily the better of that duo, even if she was barely seen for weeks. She had a better grasp of this show and game than he did, and she talked some big talk but didn't get a chance for us to see if she'd put it in action or not. She did her costume week with a good attitude, and she was a good-natured participant in most of their non-game activities. She gave us some behind-the-scenes 'Amazing Race' info which was fun and different. Like Victoria last year, she doesn't need all that fake hair but at least hers stayed in pretty good shape most of the time.

Won: 2,400 battles
She's the type who had Star of the Season potential but she didn't quite make the cut. She was volatile, emotional, controlling, and prone to hissy fits, and she took most things personally. But she was also an unexpected comp beast, especially on the endurance wall, and she wasn't afraid to make 'big moves' even if Vanessa had a heavy hand in most of them. She did her 2,400 battles largely (and surprisingly) without complaint, and she gained some hard-earned respect with that. Her thing with Clay was odd and uncomfortable to watch, and she easily won Death Race 2015 with her curious and unflattering taped-in extensions.

Won: Ireland trip; Outback dinner (guest)
He started badly, calling himself a 'superfan' after being recruited at a basketball game and marathoning a few seasons. He said BB is about making new friends and memories, and he had a problem with lies and backstabs except when he was doing it. He spent most of his time stapled to Shelli and they got a lot of mother/son jokes, but I saw them more as creepy Lannisters, especially when she went on about how like her brother he is. He provided loads of unintentional comedy, weird mouth things and mumbling translations, he peed in HOH shower, and he got out just in time.

Won: 1 week Wackstreet
Another superfan who found out it's easier to play BB from home, he fell into Vanessa's disastrous Renom Roulette wheel and went out earlier than many hoped. He got mouthy about many of them and popped some good funnies, but he laid around most of the time until it was too late. He gave us some of the best reaction faces of all time, especially the night they played squicky truth or dare - he even had a dedicated cam for much of it. He mentioned this site often, usually saying it's 'hard to navigate' so he'll probably never see this.

Won: Nothing
She was erratic and unpredictable, and the random ways she kept them stirred up made for some of the best feeds in ages. And as a bonus, she featured in all the fights, many because the others didn't believe her telling truths. They did buy most of the fibs, and without 'empirical evidence,' but they fell for her wacky gameplay more than twice. She marooned herself in a bed and a dental chair, with some laughs in between, and she got the 2nd ever penalty vote. I enjoyed watching her, and will miss her.

Won: Nothing
I haven't given many empty wheels before their time, and I don't think any of those got them as early as he did. But we've never had such a misogynistic, inappropriate, and unfunny pig before. CBS let him get away clean and that's what it is - I'm just glad to see the back of him.

Won: Power to nullify 3 votes
She wasn't afraid to confront people nor to keep fighting to stay, which was good for us, but didn't help her much. She figured out the twins early but didn't leverage that to her advantage soon or well enough. Her 'game on' fight with Audrey and pantry rant to us were memorable, especially her catch-phrase 'get your life!' She was smart, funny, and volatile. She didn't let us take full advantage of #DaVonneHasADaughter, a hashtag that was too good to be true.

Won: Nothing
He was like a parody of all the former surf boys we've had, with all the worst qualities of asshat hamsters past rolled into one. He verbally beat up on Steve a few times but the primetime version earned him viewer loathing, even if his actoring was lousy. He ranted, streaked, flipped us off, and mostly talked about himself, but he promised to save us all someday through music.

They erroneously said last year that BB16 would have 'the most houseguests ever' but this year they really did, with 17 total after the twins split into separate entities. Now my symmetry for this section is out of whack and I don't know what to put here.

Big Brother 17 FAQ
June 18 was Day 1 move-in. June 24 was CBS premiere, Day 7. Finale will be September 23, Day 98

Feeds are streamed by CBS, and accessible via All Access subscription. Call 888-274-5343 for account help, including cancellation.

CBS shows are Sundays 8pm, Wednesdays 8pm, eviction Thursdays 9pm (Global in Canada).

Big Brother After Dark is on POP (formerly TVGN). It airs Monday, Tuesday 11pm-2am; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday midnight-2am; Thursday 1am-3am. The aired blocks are recorded earlier on the same night.

The CBS app (by CBS Interactive) will play BB air shows and other CBS shows, but not feeds. Use your browser to watch feeds on mobile devices. The same All Access link used to subscribe will lead to the feeds viewing page if you're already signed up.

Liz and Julia had to survive five evictions in order to play separately as individuals, which they did, with Julia officially entering the game on Day 43. They switched places every few days. They had a limited time in Diary to change clothes, adjust their appearance, and exchange info. The non-playing twin was sequestered in a 'house,' possibly the jury house.

BB17 prizes are the same: $500k for the winner and $50k for 2nd place. Stipend for the others is $1,000 per week again, including pre-show hotel and jury sequester. Recruits or those with established pre-season fan bases might get more.

The habitat has 80 HD cameras (up four) and over 100 microphones.

The recorded in-house announcements are the voice of producer Don Wollman.
