It also isn't necessarily about who will win, who should win, who's cute or who's horrid. It's about watching hamsters: who's doing what and why, who's fun and who's dull. In a few hours our annual summer obsession will kick in and we'll hastily decide who we like and don't.. and in a few weeks half of these happy faces will be gone and the rest will be paranoid raving lunatics.. bring it on!I seriously hope all the promised political arguments will have taken place by now - anyone who wants to spend a summer listening to that can watch the news channels.. Elisabeth Hasselbeck might disagree, but mixing politics with reality tv "stars" is not a good idea in my book
They'll know that they're going live tonight (especially when 9pm rolls around for the Showtime show) but even if we have another season of Hamsters Gone Wild, watch the subtext and who's hanging with whom: this is Day 6 for them and chances are the groups & alliances that will last til the end have already formed

Feeds came on at 9pm with Showtime once again.. audio was switched on an hour and 20 minutes laterWe had fishies for a few hours: that was nice to see again - hopefully they'll be there for feed blackouts and not some dopey repetitive graphic again.. the WAY TOO LOUD music is back in place though
When the feeds kicked on, they all screamed (which may have caused the ensuing audio problems), obviously having been worked up into a frenzy for our benefit.. then they settled into their corners, downing coffee and complaining about having to stay up til midnight
They were on best behavior through Showtime, and the first sloppers had it easy: from Tuesday to Sunday, after a week or more of hotel room service.. they waited eagerly for midnight and started cooking everything in sight as it crept close.. they had a surprise post-Showtime booze delivery and toast, then some roamed around and others sat and bitched.. they're still on getting-to-know-you stories - some strategy talk took place, but not a lot of it, and the first potential PR nightmare has already taken place (see Steven)They're already talking about the wrap party, and April & Ollie are already making out in the greenlight - that's a first for first night of feeds, I believe?

In the news department, I've heard from another Hamsterwatcher about Michelle's racy past: apparently she was a "Knockout Girl" at the Foxy Lady in Rhode Island, which equates to "fake boxing between girls, followed by raunchy topless 'wrestling' with guys. There was a real ring and everything" - we've seen her boxing already.. my source also says "I think she may have tried out plain stripping (which involved less contact actually) but I can't say for sure" - so keep your eyes & ears on Michelle to see if she cops to any of this

No casting twists is the best news all month, and I liked the way they moved right along for the premiere, going into noms & veto right away instead of an endless two weeks before an eviction like usual. However, they blew their easy ups by making us wait til Showtime for the feeds and then another 80 minutes on top of that til we could hear them. Kudos for putting quotes around 'mixologist' for 'Memphis' though.. do you think all the pre-show leaks were so they could get a clue from sites about how to edit this mess this time? |
 
I have nothing on her, except she wore a dopey hat most of the evening. Her smoking buddy Brian called her 'Mysterioso' and that sounds about right to me. I want to see some of her championship drinking or something, because her entertainment potential isn't looking real high so far. |
 
Her OCD might have been played up a bit, although she was seen rearranging the fridge and she seemed baffled by the pantry magically restocking itself with bounty. She looked a little grumpy for much of the evening but she seemed chirpy at other times. I don't know what to make of her yet. She & Ollie are already showmancing. |
 
NOMINATEDHe's a surprise second smoker as well as a surprise rebound nom. I wanted to like him but he may be history before we even get to know him. Apparently he messed up his game already by betraying his too-early alliances too soon, and got busted. He seems to be something of a hot-head, bitching out loud to the mirror as he gel'd his hair and eavesdropped on the kitchen crowd: Ollie's name came up a lot during his rant-to-self. |
 
He's laying a lot lower than his pre-show hype led us to believe he would, and I don't have much to go on yet. He looks really, really young, and he did bring a Bible. |
 
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLDWON & USED VETO From what I gather, he & Brian swore something on the sacred Marine motto Semper Fi ('always faithful') and apparently Jerry heard his insta-teamie Brian outing their alliance, or something, so that's how the noms turned around so much. Word on the street is that Brian's a goner, but it's too soon to know for sure. Otherwise the old guy stayed up after he had to, holding up well with the kids, and talking about his fitness regime. Most feedsters seem to like him so far.. I have a feeling he'll do something to change that before long. |

She's irritating a lot of feedsters but she isn't bothering me much, yet. I want to call her Daniele 2.0 - not only does she look remarkably like her, but she even sits in the same way in the same spot at the kitchen counter, watching everyone else work. I'm wondering if BB8 Daniele wormed her way back into Ms. Grodner's heart (not that she ever left it) and begged her way to a second chance without the handicap of a dad she hated in there with her. Overnight update: okay, her laugh is worse than BB9 Sharon's.. she sounds like Flipper! |
 
I don't know why Steven's hating on her so much and in such an ugly way, but we're bound to find out. She cooked a lot, and later brought out her 'bad mom' excuses when Angie asked if she missed her kids, so that's out there now. She said 'any mom would do the same for $500k' - I'm not so sure about that, but I'm still riding on her Hamsterwatch mention so I am on a wait 'n see about her. |
 
Won: Classic CamaroHe shows potential for providing some good unintentional humor for us. He talked about his modeling days for awhile and his former exercise regime, but I'm guessing he might be our designated gainer for the season.. he's already a bit pudgy. I think he's a putz and I am really going to have trouble calling him 'Memphis'. |
 
She doesn't seem very social, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm not sure what to make of her. She & Jessie chatted over the pool table for awhile but there was no chemistry that I could see, and I have a feeling she wasn't inspired to move beyond remedial flirting with him. She perked up some in the greenlight, goofing loudly with April after Ollie took his libido elsewhere. |
 
Other than wearing a dopey hat, he was very under my radar tonight - at least until 3am when he started smacking in bed with April. Earlier Brian started bitching about him, first to the mirror and later to Dan. I don't know what that was about but Ollie seems like one of the less offensive ones - so far anyway - but is the kid who 'just lost his virginity' heading for a broken heart on our feeds? Stay tuned. |
 
NOMINATEDShe's wacky and went through several costume changes in the first hour of feeds. She's also loud, jonesing for some hard booze, and wears a lot of makeup.. mirror feeds could get bad. She's already beat Sheila's short-lived record of being the oldest female hamster, so maybe she should get gone while the getting's good. She's on somebody's mind though: a male voice sleep-shouted 'Renny!' in the wee hours. |
  
He could be sitting real pretty now, but no. He was stuffing chaw in the first hour of feeds, and a half hour after Showtime left, he referred to Libra as 'that colored girl' and moaned how 'she thinks she runs the house'. He said he thinks 200 people watch on the internet and he had a problem with the rich kids out-storying him which was fun but still, he won't live that phrase down. I hope we don't hear worse. |
