Taylor had made his cake and it was saved until midnight and the end of the Have-not week for Dee and Melody. Barrett came downstairs and got some birthday greetings, and a hug from Taylor, but not from Dee. Dee dug into her taco at midnight and ignored Barrett, everyone ate in silence and awkwardness, and she left to shower before they sang the birthday song and dug into the cake. Sure, Dee starved and suffered cold showers all week, and Barrett's a grown man turning 28 and not 8, but she was quite obviously and quite intentionally ignoring him to make her point that he betrayed her this week. It was beyond petty, and highly distasteful, for someone who continually harps on it all being "a game" and not personal. Also last night, Yash made banana bread. Pouring the batter into the baking pan, he held the bowl up high and sang the chant from the Lion King's "Circle of Life" as the batter dripped. Taylor joined in, along with Angela and/or Dee, and they sounded pretty good. What made it notable, and funny to me, was how production comes down so hard for singing, because of royalties, but they let this go through, when Disney notoriously keeps a much tighter rein on their copyrights than most. The banana bread was a hit visually and got lots of praise, which made Drew scowl in the background. Slicing into it and tasting today, it was a hit in every way. Angela started her day by retelling a dream to Dee in great detail, which Dee politely indulged. If Angela survives a vote tonight, it won't be because of anything she did, but she'll likely take credit for it anyway, forever. Drew sucked up to Angela and Devens, like he does, denying any blame for how the week unfolded, and swearing he's still with them and not the rookies, who he swears allegiance to when he's with them. And he sucked up to Dee, who said if she wins the Block Buster, she's going to be the most obnoxious one in there. Angela told Taylor they shouldn't do dishes or clean up for the ungratefuls. Taylor and Yash told Devens he has to win the Block Buster or he's a goner. This is already a lot and I thought I'd be okay to just let it all simmer til the facts happen in the show. But I came home from appointments to find Dee and Barrett talking(!) for the first time in days. She was wiping her eyes and sniffling, he said he's been kind of a jerk this week, and she was his person from the start, but her last HOH altered their relationship. She said in a teeny tiny voice "what really hurt me is you didn't tell me" and she said she wouldn't have taken it personal if he had given her a heads-up about the noms. (She would have.) To paraphrase the convo, Dee basically said he could have done this, he should have done that, but he didn't and he ripped her heart out, and Barrett said "mm-hmm." When she got to "more than anything, I just really missed your friendship this week" I had to shut it off, given I'd just written up the massive birthday snub. Later she told us "this changed my speech because I was gonna shit on everybody."Julie posted her Block Buster preview, which is linked below in Links of the Day. It's a pretty basic-looking 3D puzzle that should go quick unless they all get flustered. Julie's halter top had a trailing leaf pattern and I wondered if that was coincidental or a symbol of solidarity with Barrett since it kind of echoed his tattoos. Probably coincidental, right? (Especially if she heard that very anti-Julie podcast clip of his.) The recaps were lengthy and wasted time on Angela calling out the Drew/Melody nomance and assorted other nonsense, without doing much with the meat of the weekly matter, namely the Dee/Barrett falling out, or Taylor/Yash flipping the votes for an Angela/Dee matchup. Devens won the Block Buster again, Dee announced she's siding with Yash and Taylor when the three of them re-entered the house, and Angela was evicted 3-2, with Drew and Melody the dissenters. Angela went out super extra bubbly (I hope Haley was taking notes for what bubbly looks like), and she told Julie she thought she could have beaten Dee at finals. Julie said next week will be Pressure Cooker veto but the images shown were holding the swords endurance (so that went on the goof tally below), she confirmed next Thursday is double eviction, and she teased a "special eviction episode" coming up at some point. That usually means taped ahead rather than live, which often means blocked feeds for a day to several days. That used to happen for fourth place eviction, but we'll know more as we get there. Dee and Barrett were back on hugging terms, at least for one post-eviction hug, and Melody ranted in the gym as she often does after being on the "wrong side of the vote" evictions, which she often is. She had some valid points again, including the stupidity and futility of keeping both Survivors in there. Barrett joined her for a while to commiserate. Later Drew joined and she ranted at him about all of it, including how much she hates both Survivors, and especially Dee, but now she hates Yash more. Dee talked with Taylor and Yash for a bit, using her scratchiest, tiniest, sniffly voice yet. Angela going out instead of one of the actual threats is of course mostly Dee's doing but Barrett's at fault too for hibernating too many days in HOH and not keeping tabs on the voters while Dee ran amok, and Melody apparently still can't see that listening to Drew is her biggest ongoing problem in this game. So be it. Feeds were down from 7.30pm til just after 11.30pm(!) and Yash won his second HOH. They were in western wear again, and it sounded like the comp was similar to the one where they had to fill up containers from spraying fountains. Previously it was foot sweat for that one, let's hope they adjusted that. They said it was fun, and fun to watch. Yash clowned with the key in the pantry, hyping himself up, and he was joined by Taylor. She said to tell everyone he'd made a verbal agreement not to put up Devens if he won, to cover up his previous Bribe lie about Devens (and Angela) being part of his deal with Dee, and she also said to pick Drew for Have-not to flush his power about that, apparently unaware he has a season Have-not pass and not just one time. We will finally be done with the dumb BB Bribe this week and all the vagueness and open-ended questions about that, whew. It sounded like Taylor and Yash tentatively agreed on Barrett, Drew, Melody noms, with Drew the target. Taylor said they can then move in on Barrett and Melody, and "we got two final fours."I'll catch up Yash's room and plans tomorrow, including if there are still three nominees and Have-nots.
