I just realized that the U.S. edition of Big Brother reminds me of summertime at a small, local TV station-- where summer Interns are allowed to goof and gaffe there way through a season with very little viewership (while all the "professional" high-priced talent is off vacationing).
Big Brother's like that for me... Always a bastard stepchild to pro's like Survivor or Amazing Race. Either that, or the whole damn show is just staffed by those insane CORPORATE MONKEYS seen on those hilarious careerbuilder.com commercials! ![]() What does Big Brother REALLY remind you of? I haven't seen the careebuilder monkeys yet, but it might not be coincidence that the first thing seen on the feeds this season were trunk monkeys ![]()

Big Brother is very similar to a lot of psychological experiments where people are taken out of their comfort zone and removed from all the things that distract them from introspection.
Organizational Development groups in large corporations participate in these sometimes and they are enlightening. I have participated in one that lasted for 10 days. We were not allowed to be in a group with anyone we knew--strangers all. It is staggering to find that not only do you start to lose touch with the real world but that, as a group, you are collectively predictable. We were told that Tuesday was "kill the leader" day and they gave us the afternoon off. They had learned over the years exactly what the group mentality would lead to, and on day 3 apparently it was to turn on the leader of the experiment. All in all, some people got WAY too inside their own heads (Amber?) and some people figured out how to bully the group (DICK?) even when he didn't know exactly what he wanted. That's why I always say they are "rats in a maze". Because they are, and the only thing that would make it better, would be if there was no DR and they had to figure it out themselves. Of course, someone would probably get hurt,LOL, so prob not a good idea for tv. |
