As threatened, I'm going to try to keep the site going after BB8, with the forum & chatroom open, to look at other 24/7 feeds, web shows, live cams, etc - there are more and more of them all the time.. I'll work on getting things re-arranged and organized for this shift of focus as we go

One of the best is the National Geographic WildCam Africa at a man-made watering hole called Pete's Pond, now in its third year.. following is a write-up I did about it for a blog a couple years ago along with a few screencaps.. it's a truly fascinating cam to sit and watch, or to just leave running in the background to remind us all these other creatures are sharing our earth even as we get caught up in the day to day trappings of our lives

This is the mack daddy of webcams. It's a man-made watering hole in Botswana, Africa built by Pete Le Roux to give the animals a place to gather and drink where they'd be safe from poachers. National Geographic has given us a live stream of it that runs 24/7 and it'll blow your mind.

The sanctuary built by Le Roux has not only revived the wildlife populations but has made them thrive. The numbers of creatures you'll see (and hear) are astounding, only outdone by the variety. Launch this one and you got your own wildlife documentary running on your desktop, and you never know who might show up next or what they might do.

Read more about the site, the cam, and the animals at National Geographic. You can also launch the cam direct by pasting this URL into your RealPlayer: rtsp://rx-wes-sea159.rbn.com:554/farm/pull/tx-rbn-sea05:1259/encoder/ngm/ngm/live/live.rm (click File, Open)

It will go dark in mid-December when the monsoons come to the area, but they've had reruns off the feeds in the past (which are as good as live, really). Different types of day bring different activity, and they even have night vision
